So is the thing in august the beta testing? Cuz I heard that was the alpha. So does that mean we get to play the game early but the beta work happens at a later date? Nobody knows this yet... |

I played the first version. So I guess Alpha then? I have no idea when Alpha goes Beta. And is Vanilla Omega then? Or are there never Omega since games can have DLC?

Good eyes Enkeria i didn't noticed all of that. ABout Alpha, beta and such, just a small light. These things are called millestones. They are generally divided like this: FIRST PLAYABLE: nothing more than the major gameplay elements and a very crude preview of what the game will be. This is also called Pre-Alpha. You can consider that small video of IGA killing Decarabias before kickstarter ending to be "first playable". Nothing more than a feel of how the game will work out. ALPHA: Alpha is when key gameplay elements are implemented and assets are ready. Alpha is something that is completely playable and most of how the game will look and feel can be seen at alpha stage. It is normally at this point that real beta testing starts. E3 2016 DEMO was an Alpha stage of the game. BETA: Beta is when the game is complete. At this stage, the game is complete and has no game-breaking bugs that could hinder the game from being shippable and playable. You can't do much at this stage besides adjustments and bug fixing. When a Demo Beta is released for testing purposes, the Beta is normally closed (areas are locked and such) not because they aren't complete, but because that is a Demo. The game is probably completely finished at this point. GOLD MASTER: Gold master is the final game's build. The "zero patient" copy that will be used for master production of the game. Beta is more like, the devs believe it is ready, and need just the polish. Like, all the assets are in the game, menues and such. During beta people can say, they hate the menu, for example, then after adding to a list of things they want to fix, they ship it anyway, and fix it like patches. I guess. |
