One feature I felt became obsolete very quickly was the man who would grow plants if you gave him seeds.
As far as I know the only three seed types are corn, rice and potato.
So here is my suggestion:
Using alchemy you could break down certain food material using Alkahest to make seeds that the farmer could plant.
Like breaking down a strawberry and getting strawberry seeds. (I actually tried to do this ingame because it just made sense in my mind and was disappointed when it was not possible =P )
Here is a list of items that could possibly be broken down for seeds:
Ambrosia (Magical plant, maybe some quest will have to be completed before you can plant magical plants)
Apple (ordinary plant, no quest required to plant)
Black pepper (exotic plant, maybe another quest for exotic plants?)
Cacao bean (exotic plant)
cinnamon (exotic plant)
Fey leaf (magical plant, yield also gives moco leeks and moco oil) (maybe have him complain once grown about why in the world you would want those kinds of murderous plants )
Fall leaf (magical plant, yield also gives fey leaves, moco leeks and moco oil) ( Once grown: Maybe have a one-time event where the area be overrun by giant moco while the farmer is panicking XD )
Garlic (ordinary plant)
And maybe add:
Grain seeds (ordinary) (grain can be transmuted into flour)
Soy bean seeds (exotic) (soy beans can be transmuted into soy sauce and Miso)
Seeds for new types of plants not yet in the game (Hey I can hope )
A magical watch that tells you when your crops are ready to harvest. (or just some may to tell without having to check manually)
A way to get more farm plots (even just having two would be really great, with all the new seeds it would be really obnoxious only being able to plant one seed at a time)
I think this would be a good idea as it would reduce the grind of some food material, especially those only found in chests.
But what are you guys thoughts?

If you want to be completionist about it you could also have rice, corn and potato's be able to be broken down into their respective seeds.
Plant classification is only my personal opinion, many could be classified differently.
