Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night has six familiars. They are: SILVER KNIGHT The original Familiar, chosen back in 2015 at a voting process for backers and non-backers. His first name was just "Familiar Armor". It is usually the first Familiar you get in the game and his focus is mostly on attacking and parrying.
CARABOSSE
The familiar is found quite early on and she is the only familiar that can heal, using potions made specifically for her. She can also attack, although her attacks are rather weak and sings! BUER Buer is an attack familiar that is most probably at the "weird" list. It must be granted that he is the only one you can have some kind of control by boucing him around the map. As it evolves, it gains fire ability. DULLAHAMMER HEAD The first familiar revealed in the game, back in the 2017 demo. It starts rather weak but it quickly levels up and you can summon more and more of them until they swarm the screeen. BLOODBRINGER The classic Sword Familiar makes a comeback with Bloodbringer. Stat-swise, it is the strongest familiar in the game. DANTALION Dantalion is a unique familiar because it's main power (although it can also attack) is using a STR boost that really makes a difference on Miriam. Vote who you think it is the best familiar of the game and COMMENT about all of them!
That's all folks!

Fairy is quite useless, i believe, since the ways to heal yourself, or resist status, are numerous and can be raised quite highly (resists, passives, etc).
The book attacks rarely. Its buff isn't something spectacular. Boring like a book, really.
Sword is nice, even if slow and tricky to use. I am currently trying to max it (if i remember correctly, at 99 level, people claimed you can have both it as a weapon, with pretty high attack too and as a familiar out there, simultaneously at the same time; or something)
Dullahammer heads are interesting. My favorite "hunter" of tricky enemies, such as elementals who go off screen and work like "piranhas", to slowly bite away on dangerous opponents (especially usefeul during farming Demon Lords, for hearts). Nerfing those is going to suck big time... Actually, only inconveniencing those who use them at specific situations, not those who have them up all the time, or those dumbeffs who "can't resist using them always, thinking they are OP" or something...
Buer is nice in overcrowded places and as an extra layer of "fun". Kicking it on enemies, using it like "playing ball" or trying to immitate something outta Super Mario, plus it gaining extra attacks later on (firebreath), are all making a great package, our of it. 11/10 fun! Not my favorite, though...
And the Silver Knight... My favorite. Exactly as all "rare" things, only it managed to impress me... You max it only during a second playthrough. And is special... Protecting you occasionally from enemy hits... Wielding a spear (i like this weapon, especially for the person it reminds us all of), using attacks of Light (perfect against demons) to impale enemies and most importantly... Reminding me personally of a very special person, that i couldn't "protect" and ultimately, "lost". This is my trusted sidekick.

<checks list> Pure Miriam , the lack of Goofball on this list is not shameless, it is shameFUL. I'm sure XombieMike would agree.

I am disappointed in you for leaving off Carabosse's best attribute. She can point out where secrets are. Given that you can get Carabosse much earlier than you can Detective's Eye, that alone can make for a considerable reason to use her over any other familiar when exploring. It's also worth noting that, firstly, her potions come in all three varieties that yours do and use separate item stacks, allowing you to double how much of each type you can use. Secondly, though, it's not just potions. She can also automatically cure status effects through Fairy Panacea, and unlike the player, never fails to notice an effect. Plus, having someone else to be your medic is just convenient, removing the need to go fiddling with menus all the time, or interrupt the action to use a shortcut.

I would also add that the Buer Familiar has an additional effect related to the bouncing you mentioned, Pure Miriam . You can jump-kick it. The familiar will also jump on its own to follow you, so you can conceivably get about double height of your double jump long before getting Invert and High Jump. There are a few spots I can't get to even with the Double Jump that bouncing off Buer has gotten me into. As such, I would call it a utility familiar rather than just "weird" and far more useful in early game. And now, the protestors.

They couldn't include a familiar that didn't win the "familiar poll" sent out to backers, out of respect for how the Silver Knight won it. That said, yeah I half-expected to see Goofball show up in some capacity, just not as a familiar.

Awww! Instead of cosmetics, why don't they use their artists and assets, to create wonderful things like THE, Goofball, instead?!??!!? For me... Instabuy!

I wouldn't begrudge seeing the familiars that didn't win show up as paid DLC.

What was the familiar that was voted in during the final hours of the campaign? Can’t remember which was that.
Also; Buer sucks and I wished Bloodbringer’s yells weren’t as frequent or loud because it gets annoying. So probably Silver Knight is the best.

There was a poll by the development team for the fans, to determine which of these got in the game. The other three are nowhere to be seen.

Carabosse quickly grew as my favorite familiar. The fairies in this game interest me greatly from having 4 arms.
I also like how she points out breakable walls/ceilings/floors to you. It helped in looking for the harder to find breakable tiles. The way she sits on Miriam's shoulder is also adorable along with how she sings when Miriam plays the piano.

Guess it's time for my clear azure sky blue text SILVER KNIGHTVery cool and useful all throughout. Later in the game I found this familiar to be really good, especially with relatively-stationary enemies. Oh, and the parrying it does is super cool. This familiar got my vote.CARABOSSEHer healing abilities and wall detection are really awesome and quite welcome in certain times. My preference for familiars are those that can deal good damage, and this familiar just doesn't seem to cut it. She is really cute and is a great singer though.BUERTo be quite honest, I thought this was a really weird familiar. Never really used it that much during my first gameplay. I'll shamefully admit that I didn't know about its flaming breath until this thread lol. I am inclined to giving this familiar some gameplay time and see how it is romping about the areas with it.DULLAHAMMER HEADThis has been my second-most used familiar. Really neat to have a handful of them attacking enemies for you once leveled and powered up high. Really handy to have in an area with a bazillion enemies everywhere. BLOODBRINGERI'll admit that I obtained the Bloodbringer familiar after beating the game and going through my last save for stuff I missed. Haven't had a lot of time to get totally comfortable with this familiar, unfortunately. It definitely does give the impression of a modestly enhanced version of the sword familiar from SotN in both attack movements and overall looks. Its coolness factor is up there with Silver Knight.DANTALIONSeems quite limited in ability, but I can definitely count on getting a nice attack buff whenever it's summoned. And I'll also admit that I haven't used this familiar much. Maybe in due time this familiar will be more beneficial the more I have it with me in-game.

And I guess the reaper and alt-faerie can come along as well.

If Bloodstained begets a sequel, using the axed content from current Bloodstained, is a must! They say even entire enemy species and areas were botched, down the road of development! I want a Goofball too! Where do i get my Goodball?

Silver Knight is flashy but impractical.
Carabosse is a life saver and sings.
Buer is useless and blocks my projectiles.
Dullahammer Head is great for Nightmare mode.
Bloodbringer is underwhelming even at level 99.
Dantalion and his strength buff is godly.
Overall I'd say Carabosse is best girl familiar. With Dantalion coming in at a close second.
