Update #95 - Switch Patch news and more

Guys, I'm not clairvoyant so I won't pretend to understand all the motivations behind the way information is being relayed to the public. Perhaps (hopefully?) it's part of a solid plan that's to be unfurled in the near future. As it stands, it just seems incredibly tonedeaf and uncomfortably awkward. I play on PS4, so I have the privilege of being the most stable experience (except PC). That said, it really is bad form to tout cosmetic crap and nerfs when a sizable portion of your fanbase can't even properly play the game. This isn't about transparency; it's just really bad public relations. Regardless of whether team A is working on stability and team B is working on extras, it just doesn't sit right with people who channeled their hopes, expectations, and dollars towards the dream of a new Igavania only to encounter crashes, glitches, and undelivered content.

I'm sorry to say it, but when I first got to experience Bloodstained, I thought, "How refreshing, to see that after all this time, certain game developers still understand what made us love these genres to begin with." Clearly fans agreed, as the reception for BS was generally quite good. Fast forward only a few weeks and I'm thinking "Are these even the same guys?" It seems incredible that they have enough awareness of their audience and confidence in their vision to create a game like BS, but then do the exact opposite going forward.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Getting even small regular updates on how work is progressing would be very good and reassuring for us Switch players who can't wait for the game to finally be the way it should be. I have faith that the developers are working hard, and the level of transparency is better than for most other developers, but why can't we get more frequent updates? Even just small community posts about what sort of trouble you've run into during patching or what you're working on would be highly appreciated. Just give us something to tide us over, so people don't lose hope and give up on the project.

Quite possible. Of course pin-pointing who did what is unnecessary, especially for the public, but knowing about screw ups that delay the patch is important for us. If I'll have to wait a month or two extra instead of just a few weeks I want to know. Even if it's not fun to report on setbacks, for transparency's sake I believe it is important.

I had to search around for this, and while it does feel nice to finally have an update, it is confusing to me that it's not on this forum too. Why keep updates like this hidden on Twitter? Shouldn't the official forums know about it too?

I think they've been communicating a lot better than most other developers, but lately they have been a bit too cryptic and posting things in weird places instead of having a clear and easy-to-find way of giving us updates. Since the Switch version is in such dire need of updates I think it would help the company's image to be even more active and transparent.

At this point tha patch has been submitted and its up to Nintendo to release it, right? Any updates addressing critical stuff would ofc be welcome.

Nope, that's the update everyone's been talking about. It was supposed to be on the week of the 15th and all they ended up saying is it'd take longer. Think I had even spotted something about it won't be until early August for that patch, but without them updating anyone on things, hard to tell.

I'm ok the balance patch. I just hope you include bug fixes along with it.
The game still has some bugs, even on the PS4.
