The moment you get the underwater shard, you don't really need it any more aside from accessing the next area. Wouldn't it have been really really cool if there was an optional "deep ocean" area?
Maybe there would be a breakable floor in the Galleon Minerva, that led to a large, optional scary deep sea area with strange tentacled creatures and spooky water spirits, and lots of sunken treasures to plunder.
The far west side of the map containing JUST the Galleon feels a bit lopsided, when you compare to the far east side, which contains the Alchemy Lab, Den of Behemoths and Glacial Tomb.
A secret deep sea would be a way of adding more content to the left side of the map, a reason for the Minerva's warp room to exist, and a cool optional area, which this game is sorely lacking in.

Yes, Agreed. Im not sure if it is safe to talk about the Datamined info that was taken from the 2018 demo, but the enemy list has a few enemy names that were not present in game, and one of them is Focalor. The turtle like demon that appeared as a boss in Curse of the moon.
if we ever get dlc expansions maybe there is a chance we get something like that. its easy to see that they didn't put many resources towards the bestiary but part of me believes theres something more. there are a lot of the Solomon demons that were left out and the datamining mentions a few of them. mmm what is going to happen next? i really need the high level superdungeon with absurdly powerful enemies and rare loot.

Regarding Focalor, in the "story flow" part of the datamines it looked like he was supposed to be an intended fight taking place at about the same time you'd be having to go down to the Forbidden Underground Waterway anyways, so I think he was originally supposed to drop the first water traversal shard and got cut. But regarding OP I fully agree. I look forward to eventually paying money for some DLC area in the future so I can get some kind of optional challenging area.

it also mentions an area called "Creature Isolation Facility" that sounds like a superdungeon but im going to bet its another name for Glacial Tomb.
also, still sad about the blue Ninja being named Harrier instead of Sonic like in the datamining. the reference is still easy to catch but its not the same.

I mean, Valefor seems wildly out of place with where he is in the game. I can see him as sort of a mid-boss in Hall of Termination though. There are actually quite a bit of enemies in CotM that aren't in RotN now that you mention it. The "reskin" of Dullahammer that's a miniboss in stage 9 sticks out to me as well. I guarantee you that the "regular" enemies at least will be used in additional modes down the road, because I don't see roguelite and chaos mode bringing in the crowds if there's nothing new to offer.
There was Creature Isolation Facility and Hall of Transference that were in the datamines. Hall of Transference had flags that connected it to the red moon room so whatever those two were, they eventually turned into Den of Behemoths and Glacial tomb. As I've mentioned elsewhere I'm not really a fan of either of those areas so I'm curious as to what they originally were supposed to look like

Backer artbook spoilers Rather than Valefor being shoved into the Den of Behemoths it's sorta the other way around. The backer artbook reveals that the Den of Behemoths was originally meant to be a casino. I assume time restraints turned it into the giant garden we got now and they didn't bother to move Valefor as he was probably already done. Non-spoiler: Valefor actually isn't the one out of place, it's the area he's in that is.

I agree with needing more water areas, but I don't think that they should have been optional. It would have been pretty cool if this was a progression step to get to the Inferno Cave. Move it over more so it connects to the ocean floor through some kind of sea cave. Maybe make it so you don't actually beat Vepar at the beginning, just drive her off. Later on, when you get Hammer Knuckle from the Glutton Train, add some big obstacles it can smash, leading you to eventually smashing an area on the Minerva and getting access to the ocean. The sea caves proper are cut off by an area where you need Deep Sinker. Add a bubble effect throughout the area to indicate underwater volcanic activity. Then, at the end of the caves, you rematch Vepar on her own turf, and get into the Inferno Cave. Maybe extend it a little too, so that one side connects to the ocean, and the other to the Forbidden Underground Waterway. I mean, Valefor seems wildly out of place with where he is in the game. I can see him as sort of a mid-boss in Hall of Termination though. Backer artbook spoilers Rather than Valefor being shoved into the Den of Behemoths it's sorta the other way around. Non-spoiler: Valefor actually isn't the one out of place, it's the area he's in that is. Actually, it could be both. They might have had the boss done, but not the area, and moved it to an area that was done. Maybe the Den of Behemoths and Glacial Tomb were always intended to be Gremory's domain, but only that. The two areas serving as otherworldly "mirror-verse" counterparts to the regular parts of the map connected to Gremory's pocket dimension. It may be that it was meant as a side track to get the last movement power, after which you'd have access to the true final area...which "Hall of Incarnation" sounds like it would be. Plus, there's the Rainbow Elemental enemy, described as "The ultimate elemental. It shines with all the colors of the rainbow.", which certainly sounds like an omni-element enemy you'd find in the "True Final Endgame" area...as opposed to just Ice Elementals.

Why not just get an equivalent to an Inverted Castle be made and get the enemies and bosses that were from the Curse of the Moon games, along with some more new enemies, bosses, Shards, Items, Armor, etc. be able to be obtained, and then put all of that into the game? Would it not be a far better, as well as also far more obvious, solution instead?
