But...yeah guys, this is/was rough for me. Like, it negatively affected my experience enough to where I didn't enjoy the game as much and it's harder to be here and stay involved. Yes, it was pretty much that serious lol. Netflix CV already left a bit of a wound and this more or less re-opened it, but at least as far as we know/hope she's just a bad apple. I have to hold out for eventually some good/positive exorcist characters.

the best villain IGA has written. Even so, even if she's playable in Boss Revenge, I'm not touching her. sigh. She had to be evil, it wasn't to be. To be more clear, I had a feeling all along this was what was coming - I'd seen the datamine pics of her face, so I at least knew she was hiding being a shardbinder. I'd hoped she had better reasons. The reasons *could* have been worse, at least

But besides all that, neither of them are going to be the 3rd playable character, and that was the main point of debate so neener on that still bro

tbh i saw it coming. IGA games are so predictable. at first i though she was going to test you or try to stop you from entering an unholy place or use demonic power to achieve something risky. but the moment i found her arguing with Alfred it was obvious that she was up to something evil.

sorry Brent. at least she is still pretty cool, but i don't think she was better than Master Barlowe.

To be fair purifyweirdshard I thought Johannes was the bad guy all along (the one mentioned in the bookcase journals). Now that his name is cleared of any wrongdoing, I would like him to be the third character.

Why? He's the only one who stuck by Miriam through thick and thin throughout the entirety of the game and is on good terms with every other major non-demon character. If he does get the nomination, I hope he would play similarly to Alfred in Curse of the Moon (weak physically but has a powerful skillset to balances his flaws).

Actually, that's something that bugs me. Throughout the game, the journals seem to be setting up the implication that Alfred is the author, with Johannes as the most likely candidate for the friend who put Miriam to sleep (and hid it from Miriam for his own reasons). We know that Alfred didn't write the journals, however. The fact that he is explicitly identified as the mysterious "friend" makes that clear. If he didn't write them, then who did?

I feel like at some point in development, Johannes being revealed to be the person responsible for the ritual was planned. It might have just been for added character depth, or it might have been to set him up as a villain either in place of, or in addition to our current penultimate boss. At least, having only two alchemists known to have survived, and flipping their roles, would be narratively convenient. It would also have made the fact that Johannes always prominently carries a journal foreshadowing for him being the person meticulously logging everything in journal entries, and explained why he was so close with the shardbinders as a junior alchemist. Not to mention that Johannes never fights, but we always see him carrying a whip. If he was intended to be a boss, then his being able to fight but pretending he can't would make sense.

At least, that's my take on it.

I think the unnamed alchemist will be talked about more in the theoretical prequel in my head. There's quite a bit about the "10 years ago" events that we haven't seen/aren't fully explained yet, and it's one of two games I think they could do next - the other being a sequel. I'll put up my thoughts on all that via a video (or at least put up the doc I wrote) about it fairly soon.

I never considered Johannes for that. If it was him, I think it'd be hard to hide the truth (and hide himself from Gebel for that matter). I didn't think it was Alfred either, though, because that seemed too obvious. Confirmation was when the writer mentioned his old friend was studying how to "slow things down", since Johannes mentioned that in the shop as well.

All joking aside, the game is a solid experience that, even and especially after beating it, I am glad way waaay more is coming for it. I've had to play it between business trips (on another one right now) but I cannot wait to play it more, do an NG+ OP as FAWK and then maybe give Nightmare a go.

I'm glad for the folks that supported this game. It's easily one of my favorite games ever made.
