Based on official art of Johannes he wears glasses. However, an art depicting characters from the past was published, you know this one:  We don't know who is actually who on the last week official art (characters in the past): Miriam is obvious, but who is Gebel and who is Johannes? The guy to the left has Johannes glasses and is taller than the right one (backed by the story Johannes is an alchemist already and Gebel is an orphan just like Miriam). However, their haircuts are inverted in the original game artwork, so according to the haircuts Gebel is a person on the left. Also the color gamma of their casual clothes match their original gamma much more if Gebel is indeed to the left. For me it was a no brainer the order is Johannes - Miriam - Gebel, yet I went into argument with my friend and her points (listed above, haircuts and clothes) were taken. I have asked the same question into the art section and people there are sure the order is Gebel-Miriam-Johannes. That means Johannes at the moment (old one) wears the glasses once worn by Gebel (this is definitely the same pair or the copy of it). What could lead to it besides the desire to keep a memento of his old friend? I'd like to hear your ideas. |

For me, the order from left to right is Gebel-Miriam-Johannes because of their jawline, hairstyle and the background roses color (red for Gebel, Blue for Miriam)

Well, now that I look closer, I think I was wrong! Despite the color of green being associated with Johannes and red for Gebel, I think they are actually swapped here. So now I think Johannes is on the left. So weird... I didn't even notice Miriam had the curse at this point. I guess she was already a bad ass fighter here too? Hell, I don't know anymore. I keep flip flopping on this now... this is driving me kinda nuts.  |

XombieMike Look at their hair-styles, though. If you ask me, I'm still 100% convinced that the one in red on the left is Gebel, and Johannes is on the right. Their hair is too similar to their earlier concept-art images.

I'm not going to deny the possibility. I'd like to see the height of each character compared to each other, too. (Assuming the development team has even decided on something so specific yet...we all know Miriam is the shortest of the three, apparently.) Because I'm still so convinced that Gebel's the one in red in the "past" concept-art, I'd say Gebel is the tallest of the three. |

Seems pretty obvious which is which in that art *shrug* I'm going to laugh when half way through Bloodstained, Johannes takes his glasses off, slicks back his hair and reveals himself to be the TRUE VILLAIN  |

So many questions asked: 1. After Gebel become cursed, Is Johannes wearing Gebel's glasses? 2. After Gebel become cursed, Is Johannes wearing Gebel's clothes? 3. Do Gebel and Johannes switched their haircuts? Anyways, I guess it's #1 Johannes probably wears Gebel's glasses. So the order is Gebel Miriam Johannes. The pic also suggest that Miriam got the crystal curse before Gebel o.o (unless there is some kind of plot twist lol) |

We are certainly NOT all in agreement. I'm still leaning the opposite way of which I originally thought. I took the clothing colors and styles to govern who is who, but if I look a the facial features and glasses I think Johannes is the blond dude on the left.
I confess that I don't really like Johannes character design on the KickStarter's main page. This pic makes him look like I did as a teen though, and I like that look a lot better for him.

I have 3 thoughts on it, artist oversight due to time constraint like with her hair, working off an earlier sketch where gebel wore glasses and johannes didnt (or neither had glasses and it was a later addition), or it could be plotpoint
Anyway, Left is gebel (look at face sketch 2), and right is johannes (face sketch 3), theyre nearly identical, probably from the same sketch on the master sheet
Personally i like the idea that they are gebels reading glasses, and johannes found/was given them and wears them to remember his friend by
