Im not surprised. Stores break street days all the time. This has nothing to do with 505 for once, they do have to get copies into the stores to make sure its available on release day after all, so the fact that retailers have the necessary stock is not a problem on its own. The actual problem is that you cant stop every dime-a-dozen corner electronics store in the world from breaking street dates and embargoes just to get that sweet profit a little earlier. I simply advise a lot of caution in this final week, there WILL be leaks, there WILL be spoilers, its unavoidable. I would also say its reasonable to think that major review sites like IGN and Destructoid have the game, or at least review code, so really, expecting backers to get the game before EVERYONE is a little silly. 505 is gonna make sure Gamespot gets their copy so their reviews can go up. Granted thus far "The Public" was specified so Im not calling anyone here out specifically, but I know there will be asinine outrage that backers didnt get the game before "literally" everyone else in other communities. mobilevil the game itself is shipping ahead of the other backer rewards to make sure, to the best of the team's capabilities, the game arrives on release day to avoid the Curse of the Moon debacle where the public got to buy the game days before we got our codes. That's the goal, but obviously once they ship it, its up to your regional mail services to get it to you in a timely fashion. As for the Day 1 Patch, as much as they annoy me, I expect its the various backer modes like Boss Rush Mode that were promised on day 1. In fact, wasnt it only a couple updates ago we were told those modes would be a day 1 download?

That means that the patch may be included into the initial client. It includes all the polishing devs have done after the physical copies had been distributed.

As far as we know (which we were aware of this example), it's just this small store in Chinatown, New York City. Please be advised for all, this is passing on something from Angel-Corlux, the brand manager from the publisher - there is a very large "day zero" patch for RotN that is necessary for the game to be in its best playable and stable state, of about 5-6 gb. If you do acquire the game somehow with street date breaking retailers etc, it is advised you not play, review etc until the release patch is available for a true impression of the game experience. You all may recall the bug Iga was talking about in the last update from him. This would address that and similar things, mostly beyond what we know, with a content update that's about 1/4 of the launch size of the game. And yes, they are being dealt with by 505. *EDIT* - Just chatted with Angel on the Kickstarter page. According to him this is one independent retailer who has broken the street date. You guys should trust/believe me more The above information in my post is all from him, and still, as far as we know, store x1. It shouldn't be a huge blowup of spoilers. Apparently this place does this kind of thing quite often.

I remember completing, editing, and re-reading all 80 pages of my dissertation for my Master's (it ain't no thesis, but it's no walk in the damned park with a kid and a job) having it printed and bound... only to realize a better way to make every point and having to go back to the printers again.
They want a good product. Which would you be more pissed about? No patch and constant crashes, or care taken that takes a little time to make sure you enjoy the experience you have? Are we on a tight schedule for fun?
Perspective, folks. Perspective.

Since my post, I've heard/seen a few other isolated examples of stores popping up. It's a thing that happens, unfortunately, but far from what we could say is some epidemic going around. I/we have never been so closely involved with a game's launch before, so I think that for some of us exaggerates the spectacle of it. The publisher will do what needs to be done. Also, since I don't believe this was posted here yet: From Angel-Corlux on Reddit Unfortunately we can't control retailers that break street date (but can and do take appropriate action privately) Just an FYI to anyone able to get their hands on a copy early: we have a very big day zero/one patch that's going to be fixing / improving / and adding a lot of stuff to the game. Playing it before launch on June 18 when the patch will be available will mean your first playthrough of the game will be significantly less enjoyable. Everything from balance, bugs, performance and more is included in the patch.

purifyweirdshard - I believed you, I was just under the impression that vendors were legally bound to date agreements as a condition of sale. Angel was very prompt to clarify the situation. I really don't envy him or Question; it's nonsense like this that is outside their control, but as the primary contacts between company and fans, they're responsible for putting out any potential fires irrespective of who started them.

But I'm not sure, I guess I could ask around for more reasons as to why the game was released this early. I think backer impatience might have had a hand in it too--people were starting to get really tired of waiting. I personally would have gone for a release in July or August for the reasons you state, but looking at the general attitude of the fandom, people might have started calling for IGA's blood if he waited that long, and not in a good way!

Are people really blaming Iga/505 for retailers breaking street dates? Are you people for real? Were you born yesterday? I'm actually amazed it took this long for the first retailers to break street date since a week is not much. I remember Kingdom Hearts 3 getting its street date broken for like more than a month.
And no, this is not on the developer or publisher. This is a sad thing that happens all the time especially with independent mom & pop shops, not so much in the big retailers.

Aztec That's the entitlement of some now. The only way 505 could have had more or less complete control over when everyone got their copy would have been if they had kept the game strictly digital, but a huge chunk of the audience wanted the physical option, many of those never thought nor are currently aware it seems that one of the problems of physical copies is getting your copy to your physical location to use! There no way that doing this simultaneously for everyone on the same day and hour is realistically possible, from what we've seen though they are trying to get as many out on the day of or as close too, that they can. They also wanted the entire game to be on one disc, (something that I did hope for but have accepted that it wasn't gonna be that way when I found out) I don't like everything about modern gaming but I understand enough to know that somethings just aren't realistic expectations anymore, and that picking one game that never asked to the exception to those practices and punish it and the makers for their frustration over modern practices is petty and vitriolic. Even if this game had stayed digital, platforms like Sony, and Nintendo, update at different times in different locations, we saw when Curse of the Moon came out that getting a digital Japanese copy was the quickest way to get a copy. But with physical copies everything has to be in its place days at least in advance. At no point did anyone ever promise or suggest that backers would get the game before anyone else, would I have complained if we had... of course not, but no one is "entitled" to get the game before anyone else. The combination of arrogance and ignorance is contemptible in those that think along these lines. Alot of this is just dogpiling a top of previous legitimate and mostly imagined offences... they are looking for anything to lash out about and tear down as much as they can because someone else is going to get to play a superboss or they didn't spend the absolute least amount of money possible in their investment... or some other grave offence to their petty grievance the sad part is the few that actually do have legitimate complaints and concerns get drowned out by the wailing petty keyboard warriors. For our part we can choose to not engage nor allow those that are tearing shit down for the sake of pissing in everyone's face to dictate the mood of the event, we can listen for the legitimate complaints help them find some sort of satisfactory solution where possible and accept that things don't always work out when they don't, and keep on enjoying the event.

This is not a Blodostained only problem. I advice you to lay low on the inter webs until then. Just a week to go!

How the hell did these stores get their stock so early, and just start selling them with no repercussions like this?
Two questions I really want answers for.
I'm not going to hate on anyone, make childish threats, or other suck kickstarter comments like stupidity, but this really does sting.

It's a huge pain in the butt, @bloodymiri I agree. I actually went out in person and asked Walmart and Gamestops in my area if they had the game and they said no. I could understand if it was just JnL making an oopsie but from what I've heard, it seems like there are leaks all over the place. This is infuriating, and believe me, Angel is much angrier than I am, this is giving him a metric ****-ton of work to do. I don't know how it could have happened.

He was prob lying, but one of the two streamers said he got his from Bestbuy. Either he is lying, or he has a friend who is about to lose his or her job.
I do not envy Angel, but I do hope whoever did it finds his head rolling down the corporate hallway.

I'm not going to hate on anyone, make childish threats, or other suck kickstarter comments like stupidity, but this really does sting. That's to be expected. Unfortunately (or fortunately in some rare cases) people break the rules all the time. The stores got their stock early because that's just how logistics work. 505 probably has sent the cargo very early to guarantee that everyone has the game ready to sell at launch day without issues. It's better for everyone this way, better safe than sorry. Imagine yourself as a store owner at launch day and you still don't have the game at stock. A lot of customers are going to come only to buy it, and you're forced to say that the cargo is late. You are going to lose those sales (the publisher as well of course) and probably even some of those customers because your store is forever going to be known as "the store that doesn't have the games at launch". It hurts the publisher and the storefront at the same time. That's why they always dispatch everything months in advance just to be sure that everyone get their stock ready.

It's seems obvious to me that it's not appreciated among most of the members active here, so I'll try to stay away from posting. I'm currently only able to generate bitterness and snide comments. I'll be back once I have something more heart-warming to say.
