Well it's that time of year where all the game companies come together with fans for the next 4 days (or so) to show off their new releases for the next year. So what games are you hoping will get announced, what surprises do you think will be unveiled, and is Konami actually gonna announce a new game (or a new compilation of games) on Tuesday night?
Me personally I'm looking forward to seeing more about Man of Medan, Bayonetta 3, Battletoads, Luigi's Mansion 3, & Streets of Rage 4 and I'm hoping that the oft rumored Resident Evil 3 Remake will get announced/shown off as well as the rumored Parasite Eve remake. As far as surprises go I will be absolutely shocked if Konami announces a new game that isn't PES or a compilation of older games (which is what I think will happen, probably a Castlevania Anniversary Collection 2 or a Metal Gear Anniversary Collection) and I'm definitely curious as to what both Limited Run Games & Square Enix have up their sleeves.

Seems like there has been several really big leaks already for Banda Namco games. 3 in particular. The entire internet has blown up over it. Every online news site, blog site, forum, and everything else in between is talking about it.
I want a release date for Code Vein, and hopefully it's not more than two months away at most.

Did you get to play the Code Vein Network Test? I was able to and it managed to sell me on the game, now I can't wait to buy it when it releases! The music is also top notch, love it. I'm personally excited to see what Microsoft does as their Presentations have slowly caught my attention over the years. But my highlights usually don't show up till Nintendo e3 direct because I'm a Nintendophile. Also I'm hoping for Bayonetta 3, The wonderful 101 on Switch, Nioh 2 trailer and, hopefully, Sekiro DLC. Other than that hoping for announcements that at least catch my eye especially from Nintendo(again. Nintendophile) Though I am hoping for something the Tales of Arise rumor, that looked interesting.

Yeah I mean another trailer that show a bit more gameplay mechanics and maybe the hud. The first one simply felt like it highlighted the cool parts to me.

I think we have an idea of what will be shown in terms of stuff like Luigi's Mansion 3 and such...and I get the feeling Animal Crossing for Switch will have a trailer but be delayed till 2020...so, with all that in mind, I'm just going to throw out things I'd like to see, even if there's no chance of them happening. I have interest in all these things, but some are higher than others... Higher-New 3D Castlevania that builds off of Castlevania 64 and Legacy of Darkness and features the game elements dropped during development from those titles. -New 2D Castlevania that takes the map structure of Dracula's Curse with gameplay built up from Super Castlevania IV. -New 3D Zelda that is based on Breath of the Wild but has a much more meaningful structure to it with key items. i.e. Do this, and not this. -Hybrid Heaven 2 by Konami -A sequel to the 3D Bionic Commando from 2009 from Capcom -New Mega Man or Mega Man X that's full 3D, correcting the problems with Mega Man X7. -New Metroid that's 3rd-person 3D in the vein of Zelda: Breath of the Wild -Reveal of rumored "Switch Lite" and "Switch Pro" consoles.
Middle -3D Kirby equivalent to Mario 64 -3D Kid Icarus equivalent to Zelda: Ocarina of Time -New Strider from Capcom -New Metal Gear by Konami that isn't a weird spinoff. (A remake of the MSX2 games might be acceptable, too.) -New Ghosts N Goblins from Capcom (or else a console port collection of the Gold Knights mini-series or the franchise as a whole) -New 3D Bomberman adventure in the vein of Bomberman 64 and/or Bomberman Hero -New Mega Man X -Castlevania Anniversary Collection 2 -Pikmin 4
Lower-New Banjo Kazooie that isn't some odd spinoff -New HD 2D Metroid -New Wave Race -New F-Zero -New Pilot Wings
-Mario Maker 2 adds Super Mario Land 2 mode -Winback 3 by Koei -Spy-Fiction 2 by Access Games -New Contra by Konami -Disaster: Day of Crisis Wii U North American eshop access

The only thing is Kid Icarus is supposed to be more like Metroid or Zelda than Star Fox or Sin and Punishment. So I hope a future Kid Icarus would be less of a spinoff and more of a mainline entry. Something more like (but better than) this fan project:

You know I honestly think the uprising formula works better with kid Icarus, though if it was something like the original setup with uprising-style gameplay. I wouldn't complain.

Kid Icarus! I think Kid Icarus is about exploration on the ground and flight/shmup mechanics in the air. This is obvious in Uprising and subtle in the NES title. I played through Uprising once and beaten it, and I played through the NES game many times and even the FDS version. In the NES game, the only time Pit is in the air is at the final stage, flying with all 3 sacred items equipped, ready to fight Medusa and rescue Palutena in the process. So in the NES game, it was 90% ground and 10% air. It already felt too much like playing a Metroid game but with adjusted mechanics. It is also known that both NES Kid Icarus and NES Metroid used the same "2D platform development scheme" which explains why they are similar in some ways off the bat. Like for one, the Komayto enemies in Kid Icarus look like Metroids from Metroid. In Uprising, I felt it was roughly 50% ground-based combat and 50% air attack. I don't recall ever being completely overwhelmed by too much of one type of game play or the other. With all this in mind, looking back I feel it was a healthy mix of game play. The only major learning curve was the controls which is really not a factor in the big picture. OwloftheNight98 I agree. I think if there will be a successor to Kid Icarus Uprising, the successor should essentially continue where Uprising left off. What I think all this should entail is the following: Nintendo should bring back most if not all of the crew responsible for Uprising (which includes Sakurai I believe?), including any of the following if they do genuinely exist: prototype designs, game play mechanics proposed that then were rejected, learning experiences from the entire duration of Uprising's development, and other ideas the dev team had. Start work with a solid baseline and see how things pan out for a "Project Uprising 2". RichterB Thank you for sharing this! Regarding the fan-made game, it can definitely work as representing ground-based combat and exploration for a future title. It would be a step back from where Uprising has been going if this was the only kind of game play. I will admit though that the game looks good

Clear , OwloftheNight98 Just a question, because I haven't gotten around to playing Uprising yet because I didn't have a 3DS when it came out and I was wary of the game design: Does Uprising actually have exploration and finding upgrades/items, or is it just a ground brawler and sky shooter? Uprising always looked like a spinoff to me, because it looked like it was 100% action. I'm not saying you can't have the improvements of Uprising, but I just want there to be substance with exploration and such. i.e. if Zelda was just Link's Crossbow Training, I wouldn't be interested, because that's not reaching the franchise's potential, IMO.

RichterBI will first preface that I played Uprising a little after the time it came out for the 3DS, which is somewhere between 2012 and 2013, so I will be going by whatever I can remember. Uprising's ground sections were mostly combat and had simple exploration incentives, such as hearts that can serve a similar purpose as from the NES game, and food items. These items would be tucked inside treasure chests within the land areas that may not be easy/quick to reach unless some exploring is done. I remember a ground level with a castle (in ruins?) and I carefully moved around the perimeter outside of enemy vision to get a certain treasure. I don't recall obtaining weapons from these chests out in the field. Anyone can feel free to correct me. I think weapons primarily, if not only, came from the Fiend's Cauldron where the more hearts are placed in the cauldron, the more difficult the next stage gets but with a greater or more rare weapon/item prize as a result of completion. So really my use of the word "exploration" is relative. Uprising is definitely not at RotN's or even SotN's level of exploration, but at least it's something compared to the NES game. And that is precisely where that fan-made video comes into play when discussing some Kid Icarus future title. I still believe it shouldn't lose the general structure of Uprising. But what I think it should have to set itself apart from Uprising is exploration at the level of the fan-made game plus a little more. Better yet, add another dimension of complexity by introducing some exploration incentives up in the air. Pit can do more up there than just blow stuff up and chat with Palutena at the same time.

RichterB I'm kinda in the same boat as Clear in that I last played the game back in 2012/2013 so my memory of the game is kinda fuzzy, but I do remember there being an element of light exploration in the ground stages with each one having a few hidden treasure chests. I also remember that playing the game for more than 5 mins was painful (and being really pissed that the game's devs didn't include a Circle Pad Pro control option), even when using the special stand that came with the game, that it used AR cards (I believe Club Nintendo even had a special pack of AR cards you could get) for a battle arena mode (which I think I still have a few even though I got rid of the game as soon as I beat the game's story mode) , that it had a f*** ton of "Challenges" to do outside of the main story, and that it had an fairly in depth "weapons" system where there were like 9 types of weapons which could be upgraded or merged to create more powerful versions of weapons.

RichterB, ClearUprising had paths that offshoot to dead ends with vehicles, one-use items and even weapons that you could get, sometimes by defeating enemy waves, and sometimes those same paths were alternate routes through the same level, they would also provide you with fun banter that you would miss otherwise. Clear, yes there were special treasurefish enemies that you could kill at certain points in the level to get extra weapons without just reaching the end, you just needed to beat the level, you also gained them from treasure chest sprawled throughout the stage. You could miss these fish if you weren't paying close attention so there was an incentive to go off the beaten path at least. I agree on the upping level design while also keeping the fast-paced combat to feel like an old/new Kid Icarus hybrid, also what you did mean by gameplay ideas that were made then cut? I'm curious about that.

OwloftheNight98When I mention cut content I meant to say that if, during the development phase of Uprising and before creating the master image, there happened to be any good ideas that the public may not be aware of that were cut for any reason to revisit these abandoned ideas for an Uprising sequel. I don't know any more than the average consumer regarding Nintendo development. I didn't mean to imply that there was anything cut. I however am aware that, in general, within a software development community, there are things that highly likely happen behind closed doors like random ideas tried that result in an undesired effect, ideas or plans done ahead of time that were to be for sure integrated to a product but then eventually scrapped but not forgotten, and so on and so forth I should actually correct my wording from my previous post now that you mention this. I don't want to be continuing sending any wrong signals to our community and guests. Thanks!
