strange world? Make that “strange country”. That double standard with violence vs sex is very much an American thing. Europe is much more open towards sex. Hell, for the longest time it was super difficult to sell games with any sort of violence in Germany until relatively recent. That’s why NES games like Contra and N64 games like Turok had to change the enemies to robots and remove any trace of blood if they wanted to be allowed in store shelves.

And if you think about it a regular person is way way way more probable to experience sex in their lives than it is to kill another human in their lifetimes. Why America sees killing in media easier to swallow than a pair of exposed nipples is too complicated a discussion for me to try and address here but suffice to say yes, it is bullshit.

PS: i remember I was watching a few years ago some sort of crime/forensic documentary show on either Discovery Channel or TLC or one of those where they were straight up showing dismembered bodies and detached extremities decaying and shit in all their gory glory but if one of those bodies happened to be female lo and behold the blurry dot on screen to censor the nipples on the torsos. I found that both hilarious and depressing.
