I feel like there might be more familiars besides the fairy, dullahan head, and portal knight, what would you guys personally want to see? And also, do you think Bloodstained's familiars will be as in-depth as Symphony of the Night or more like Order of ecclesia/Sorrow games, where they're simply extra dps?

I fairly expect it to be for the most part like SotN and a tiny little bit like OoE/AoS/DoS, if not totally 100% like SotN from the get-go.

I fairly expect it to be for the most part like SotN and a tiny little bit like OoE/AoS/DoS, if not totally 100% like SotN from the get-go. I actually disagree and am surprised to be doing so. I believe that the game will actually be more challenging in the outset and building towards powerful items. I also think cheese items will not be so overwhelmingly cheesirrific.
I'm looking forward to seeing more balanced levels of ludicrous power that you may actually need to survive the bosses towards the end. I also think that since the Soul system from AoS is being strongly channeled here that we will see the lessons IGA's learned from his other games in here, but in a refined usage.
We'll just have to see.

Mr. Welldone Thank you for you reply and I apologize for my late one. Long day at work today. All this might actually make sense, so here goes My view is that out of all outcomes, the very best worst case for familiars would be keeping it as traditionally "SotN-esque" as possible, especially around the beginning of Miriam's main scenario / gameplay. The growing Bloodstained IP should welcome some sort of healthy divergence from past Igavanias, or a gameplay structure that can be one-to-one with a previous Iga title but ramped up to acceptable extremes, or even something like a continuation of where Iga left off from with OoE. So with all that in mind, "SotN-esqueness" in Bloodstained really is just a single element within a set of attributes that make up Bloodstained, not as what Bloodstained literally is as an end in itself. Familiars can be just as "helpful" as they were in SotN, and they can be literally saviors as how I think they'll mostly be throughout Bloodstained gameplay. Maybe depending on circumstances, familiars can function as better gatekeepers and a few notches above the devil familiar that just presses the switch. What I'm trying to say is that I'm expecting fresh new experiences, and each will somehow remind me of an old Igavania title, roughly 90% or so between SotN and the AoS/DoS games. And the further along I play through the main scenario, the better the gameplay experiences get. But the most common element that I feel will always be present while playing Bloodstained 1 is the feeling of playing a SotN title. I need to go to bed

I'm personally kind of hoping that there is a Devil familiar like in SotN, I loved how he actually gained new moves as he leveled up and how proper he was; Also hoping that the fairy familiar has a personality like in SotN, I'm kind of bummed out that she didn't keep her kickstarter art design, really thought that was cute.

I voted SOTN-style familiars, but I hope that maybe there's even more to them!
