I suppose I'm stealing Pure Miriam 's thunder here somewhat, but over on the Discord we've been talking about the new Bitsummit footage we were shown recently.
Here's a vid of IGA playing it with Ben Judd translating:
And here's a vid of the same area with just Japanese commentary:
It's the same tower area with Valac we've seen before, but there are a few little things to note--we get to see a Fairy familiar in action, and Miriam's got a nice, stylish mask. A few things that struck me:
1: The game looks really, really good. I try to keep it in check, but my hype is rekindled...the lighting, the smoothness of the movement, the detail on the terrain (I love the pillars, gears, and torches) all look like SoTN's back in business.
2: They seem to have taken away that annoying red low health border, yay! Alas, it still seems like Valac doesn't have much of a hit indicator...
3: As morbid as it sounds, I was impressed to see in the second video that Miriam apparently has a particular death animation for fire--as you can see, rather than just being knocked back and bleeding out, she stands still as she's charred, and then drops to her knees. That's a minor sort of detail you'd find in SotN, where Alucard (and Maria, in the PSP version) had different animations depending on if they were burned, electrocuted, or frozen when they died. Very impressive!
So, check it out, guys! And tell me if you see any other nifty things. I can't read Japanese but this list of enemies seems intriguing...

I'd SOO love to watch all that right now but I have to restrain myself. I want to see no more of it before I actually get to play through the game.

Clear I think Karabos might be Calibus, yeah. Not the icon next to its name, and the shards next to all the others. I think they list what shards drop from the enemy, so if there's a little fairy icon next to Calibus, I assume Calibus is our fairy familiar

I wonder why there was so much stuttering in the first video. In the switch trailer you can see the frame drops, but on the previous PS4/pc video it looked smoothed.

I wonder why there was so much stuttering in the first video. In the switch trailer you can see the frame drops, but on the previous PS4/pc video it looked smoothed. I'm not sure if it was just a poor upload or youtube messing up or something. When I watched it earlier it went really weird when I tried to set it to fullscreen, so I think it may be a youtube glitch or something.

Daaaamn, why you had to tag me? SO MUCH to comment, i'm going to take a long time to analyze all this! But anyways...here goes: THE FAIRY
From what i understand, the Pink Fairy Familiar can attack enemies with some kind of very weak magic that appears to give them some kind of status effect, although i couldn't get what really happened to them when they were affected, and she can also heal using itens, but i don't really know when she decides to do that. She also points secret places, you can see when she suddenly stops close to a wall, says something and just stand there, probably a wall to be broken. FROM GARDEN OF SILENCE TO TOWER OF TWIN DRAGONS
You can see the fairies here, the enemies from where you get the familiar shard. Not only that, but this scenario looks like Garden of Silence, so, my guess is that Garden of Silence connects to the Tower of Twin Dragons. WEIRD BATS and BONE THROWING
At this scene, Miriam summons some different-looking bats to attack. These aren't the same as the demo bats and i do remember the design of a weird-looking bat being presented before. Considering the list of enemies (where that shows up in the videos?) shows it as "bat" i'm guessing either the first bat got axed, or they changed it, or something like that, because it doesn't look like the demo bat. Miriam also throws a huge bone here, probably from Bone Morte shard. GIMMICK MECHANISM
Here, we can see some kind of mechanism that can be manipulated with Miriam's hand, much like Galleon's Minerva door. At first, they said that the door on Galleon was there just to make the player used to spinning Miriam's hand around but it seems they also made some gimmicks with that. It is a nice move. THE MENU
When IGA goes to the menu, we can see Miriam wearing some kind of gorgeous party mask, that save has more than 2 hours and 21% completion. POISON RESIST SHARD
IGA picks up the Poison Resist Shard, from a toad enemy. THE SHARD MENU
Three things stands out at the Shard Menu: First, the Familiar Shard actually shows the familiar icon, instead of the colored shard icon, so, it is easier to identify what familiar is it. Second: IGA has two Skill Shards ON. We know that one is Double Jump but i wonder what is the other? Probably the Shortcut Skill Shard. Third: The shard types names here are the old version, for some odd reason. We were told that the names changed (Trigger became Conjure, Effective became Manipulative and Enchant became Passive). Weird... THE SHIELD OUTSIDER
This enemy (Shield Outsider, i think) was designed by a Backer. His Shard conjures a shield that Miriam can spin around to defend herself. JEWELS AND SHARD CRAFTING
By the commentary, it seems that Shard crafting will be more focused on using jewels than anything else. BACKER PORTRAIT HAS A SHARD
The backer portrait actually has a shard. I wonder how it works, because we didn't get to see it. IGA DIES
And, IGA himself, dies at the Valac boss, as to show how hard it is. I really liked this footage, although this is the same scenario we saw before. I know nothing of japanese, so i can't help identify anything, but that was fun to watch. That's all folks!

From what little I understand of Japanese kana, that is the Shortcut shard, yes (Sho-to-ka-to). And I'd wager they changed the bats around from the beta we played, especially since high-level bats were a little OP for miriam, just launching wave after wave of them. Now they seem to release either three bats in a wave or a very large bat boi.

I could not really get a clear look at what the fairy looked like, but I did see it both healing and attacking, which is really nice.
Fairy was always my fave in Sotn.

watching IGA play his own game was very fun and entertaining. i was getting nervous and a little excited every time his health dropped below 100 but he did pretty good until valac absolutely destroyed him. the game really looks better and way more interesting when the person playing is not a journalist.

is there a highquality larger/closeup image of what the fairy looks like? really hard to see in this footage. I really like how it heals and attacks instead of just heals.

There may be a Morte carrying a bazooka on his strongest shoulder I believe 015 is "Plume Parma", the winged pig-like enemy that bursts when defeated. 019 "Zagan" sounds like it's going to be one of the Ars Goetia demons, directly named after "President" Zagan (usually depicted as a "griffin-winged bull"). 012 is actually Sabnock (I do believe that's how its name was spelled in the demos).

#1: Okay is it just me or does the JP version of the gameplay seem a bit more upgraded?
#2: The shield shard ability sounds like it would be a lifesaver against bosses with a penchant for ranged spam and it seems like Miriam at some point in the game will be able to summon bats, neat.
#3: I think the fairy around 11:45-ish in the first video was pointing out a breakable wall, it looks like they're going full SotN with familiars or the fairy is one of the more detailed ones.
#4: Wow that fire death animation is surprisingly disturbing, doubly so with the scream.
Overall looks pretty great! Not much else for me to say that hasn't been repeated.

Thank you for the corrections Galamoth ! I updated my list at the second post of this thread where I originally made the table. Also I cross-referenced from a few wikis to double-check and sure enough you have been 100% on the dot. I still have unfortunately never had the chance to play any of the PC demos and I gave myself only 10 minutes before posting to just guessing and taking long shots at what all the kana were referring to. I thought "Savnuck" since for some reason I then remembered fighting Savnucks in one of the NES Dragon Warrior titles gunlord500 Though you might be absolutely right and all, I actually get the sense that Calibus is actually either the Knight Familiar or some other familiar of the Demon class. When I think "Calibus" I think of the movie Clash of the Titans

#1: Okay is it just me or does the JP version of the gameplay seem a bit more upgraded? It does seem, but it is also odd, because they still use the old Shard names (it was revealed that Trigger became Conjure, Effective became Manipulative and Enchant became Passive.#2: The shield shard ability sounds like it would be a lifesaver against bosses with a penchant for ranged spam and it seems like Miriam at some point in the game will be able to summon bats, neat. The Summon Bat Shard was revealed at the 2018 Demo, but both the bats and the shard was a bit different. It was overpowerd, where you summoned one bat that flew straight-line and by leveling it, you could summon a lot of them, all at a straight-line. It seems they changed it to more bats flying at different directions and they also adapted the bat's look to be more menacing and more in par with the bat they showed us some time ago.#3: I think the fairy around 11:45-ish in the first video was pointing out a breakable wall, it looks like they're going full SotN with familiars or the fairy is one of the more detailed ones. I also think that. It seems the fairy has three powers: she can attack enemies with something that seems to give a unknown status effect, she can heal Miriam using items (the conditions for that is unclear) and she stops close to a wall and says something, probably trying to tell Miriam that there is a secret there. She also sits down on Miriam's shoulder if the player is idle long enough.#4: Wow that fire death animation is surprisingly disturbing, doubly so with the scream. Loved it too, it is a cool detail!Overall looks pretty great! Not much else for me to say that hasn't been repeated.

Nice video find! Very informative. Saw a bunch of interesting stuff in it. Sorry if I'm just regurgitating known things, I haven't always kept up with the latest.
I especially found this tidbit too be highly interesting: The book IGA looks at in towards the end describes a new special skill with this text.
Helm Breaker With a leap forward, slash down while aiming for the head
Weapons: Honebamitoshiro Kajiki (Swordfish)
I'm guessing this is a Katana skill? The Honebamitoshiro is a famous Naginata that was remade into a Wakisashi from what I can find, so I guess it could also be a spear or possiby a short sword.
I find it really interesting that the skill lists specific weapons here. I guess that indicates that skills will be weapon specific, and not weapon type-specific as I believed before.
I was very pleased to see that it now says in the menu what will happen when you level up a shard. Some interesting stuff in the shard menu overall.
He's using an effective shard called basically Kraftwerk (I know, but that's the only reference I can find for that specific use of kana), which says that it can grab and move specific objects. I'm assuming it's this blue thing he's using he's using at the start. I wonder what button that is bound to. It has an mp cost of 2/s, so I guess it will be a hold move where you pick something up and walk around with it. It's marked as a "hold type" with grade up causing it to also damage enemies.
Aiming Shield gives a larges protective range on grade up.
There's a new directional shard in the list called "Heretical Grinder" which holds continously spinning blades in the held direction. Blades get larger with grade up.
INT-enhance shard is interesting, as the grade up says "Chanting speed increased". What chanting speed? It doesn't seem like the INT up shard itself has a casting time, and we've not seen anything with casting time that I know of. Maybe that will be a subcategory of some trigger types, that requires some casting time to use?
Throw bone grows larger with grade up.
I was also really interested in the fact that summon bat can throw out multiple bats OR 1 big one. IGA comments with a bit of surprise when the big one appears, so I guess it's a low percentage probability thing? Could this imply that some shards will have alternate or hidden super-versions? Maybe that become more frequent with increased rank? No idea, but it seems cool.

Clear Actually, カラボス is not "Calibus" - it's " Carabosse" Don't hesitate to google the original name. Also 006 is not "Dullahan", it's "Dullahammer". Regarding the translation of オードッグ - all I see is a nickname "O-Dog". I have no idea what this enemy can be.
