Bloodstained Ritual of the Night now has a listing in the "coming soon" section in the European Switch eShop. I have a question about it. In this listing, it says "Required for Use - Internet connection" imgur.com/a/nPjjEm3I am concerned about this. This is not a game that should require always-online. I had a look at Super Mario Maker 2's store page for comparison - a game that DOES require always-online for most functions, yet this message did not appear on that page. So what does this message mean? |

Bloodstained will have online multiplayer function as been a part of the game, this has been part of the project since the Kickstarter, I would imagine that this is what is being referenced.

If this means that our physical copies are incomplete without an internet connection... what's the point, besides having a dummy case? I'm sure they couldn't possibly have fucked up this bad. A clarification would be nice.

I’m pretty sure that’s a mistake. My Mexican eShop page (set to English btw) says internet is indeed required but only to access the online features. The wording is definitely different to what OP said it appears for him.
Also use your logic, people. This game is releasing in GOG. If this game was suddenly going to pull a fast one on us and release an online only game as DRM would you think they’d have a version for GOG? Or Switch (a system that’s virtually impossible to keep online when on the go)?
Im 99% sure and willing to bet you anything that that is nothing bad but a botched description and a consuming mistake but that’s it.
PS: i just checked my North American PSN Store and it says too the same spiel about it needing online collection to access the online features same as my eShop. Relax people.
