I don't see people discussing this yet, but I've been wondering (hopefully a remote possibility)....
....What if Bloodstained became Epic Store-exclusive (Heaven forbid) right before launch this Summer? What would all of you think?
As a backer for the steam PC version, I would be pretty pissed, since I've already invested quite an amount in Steam, and I really don't feel like installing another store application just to play Bloodstained...What are your opinions on this?

Ritual of the Night already has a "Coming Soon" page on Steam and GOG, so I don't think we have to worry about that.

If they thought the backlash from cancelling Mac / Linux and other promised platforms wasn't all that bad they should try this and see the ****storm it would generate.

I just can't see it happening in this case. People've been waiting for four years for this game, and they know that. Metro also doesn't have Kickstarter backers to answer to, if I understand correctly. The fact that we're this close to launch and they haven't even mentioned the Epic Store at all also says quite a lot. I think it'd be nice if the Epic Store got Ritual of the Night alongside the other stores, since Epic apparently pays the game developers better, but an exclusivity deal seems functionally impossible at this point.

I don't see it happening, but (on a purely hypothetical standpoint) I wouldn't support ArtPlay or Iga-san ever again in that case. Platforms cancellation are one thing, the debacle on the Mac/Linux question is another thing (one that I'm still and will probably forever be disappointed about) but this would really be a big, massive drop that spilled the glass and shattered it completely.
But I don't think it's a problem at all nor would I remotely suspect such a thing. I may be disappointed at some things this project did lately to the point that my enthusiasm is not that big anymore, but I still have a good opinion of the team overall and the people behind Bloodstained.

hiroakihsu I think the chances of this happening are essentially non-existential. This move would be neither in our best interest nor in 505 Games best interest. Past decisions by 505 and Art Play may have given people the impression that they don't care about fans but I'm sure that most of the controversial choices they made didn't come lightly and were absolutely necessary for this game to move forward. The only viable business alternative they had (other than borrowing money, risking bankrupting the company and everyone's source of employment) would be to run another Kickstarter and I don't think anyone would have wanted it to come to that.

I think after the Metro debacle it's extremely unlikely that Artplay and whomever would gamble with any sort of exclusivity deal, in particuler since they need to push out as many copies of the game as possible not just make as much money as possible.

Well they just announced a bunch more games becoming epic store exclusives (Control, The Outer Worlds, Ashen
The Division 2, etc)...I just hope this isn't becoming a trend...
