Arsenical Thanks for tagging me. Damn...DAMN! HYPE HAS OFFICIALLY RETURNED. I have SO MUCH to talk about this, this post, i'm sure, will be damn long but i'm going to do it. I'VE BEEN SUMMONED FROM HELL ITSELF to do this and...okay, let's go. This wll be a bit different from my usual analysis, because i have a ton of things to say. First, i'm going to talk a bit about the trailer and what it revealed to us, on a frame-by-frame with screenshots. THE TELEPORT ROOM
Since the reveal on 2018, when someone was able to find a suspicious room in the Demo, we wall knew that the teleport rooms would make a comeback and here it is. A huge stained portrait that breaks in pieces and lets Miriam traverse the Castle by going inside a black vortex. That's a nice touch, it fits the overall theme of the game and i must say i really like the "space / void / stars" look above the portrait, it gives a dimensional look that fits well with the room purpose. THE CARRIAGE
I'm really puzzled by this. This carriage has some kind of demon horse, or unicorn and a man (a man?) as it's driver but not only that, it's just for a split second, but you can see that Miriam is inside, as if she is being carried from one place to the other. It's hard to think what this mean. Maybe there is a place on Garden of Silence (this IS Garden of Silence, right?) where there is a carriage to move you around, like the ferryman on Symphony of the Night. Maybe this is actually a Shard, that let's you summon the carriage to move you around (that would be neat). Anyways, it's a really interesting idea, and i'm looking forwad to see what this actually means. THE GEAR ROOM
Here, we can see a room that looks like a Clock Tower of some sort. We have a Buer enemy and a demon that looks something egyptian. This scene is pretty quick, but the gears look nice. Not much to say about this one. THE SWORD OF LIGHT
There is a Were-wolf kind enemy down below and another monster up there. The most interesting thing about this scene is definitely the sword Miriam is using. Some kind of Sword of Light with, either a really huge range or some beautiful lightning effect, as it can be seen on the gif above. Don't know if this is a special attack of this magic sword of if it is is default move, but either way, it looks awsesome. It reminded me a bit of some swords from Symphony of the Night. THE BEE, THE FIRE AND THE GOLDEN STAIRS
This particular scene is beautiful for a lot of reasons. First, the fire shard (Morte Cannon Shard renewed?) looks awesome, but not only that. Th bee enemy is basic, but take a good look at the scenario and it's depth. You have golden staircases, well-lit by yellowish candles, the first layer on the background has a large hall that goes to another corridor with arc structures. That's a lot of details for a particular area and the whole golden-like art here looks stunning. THE LASER TELEPORT PROGRESSION SHARD
This is obviously a progression-shard that let's you "draw" a line towards crawl spaces in order to reach the other side. A creative way to limit the player's progress. I imagine the puzzle and gimmick mechanics that you can create and made up with this. THE KILLER BARBER CORRIDOR
Here we can see the Killer Barber enemy, Miriam wearing some funny/fiery looking boots and using Buer Familiar. The corridor itself looks familiar, in shape, to some corridors we've seen in old demos and that's a bit weird. This "up / down" shape seems to be a bit overused and i hope i'm wrong. THE WERE-WOLF DEMON
This is still part of the Gear Room / Clock-Tower region and we can see a Were-wolf like enemy. This creature looks like a IGA classic. A towering enemy that is not very strong. IGA really likes that and i'm sure we will see more enemies like this one. GOING DOWN
There is nothing happening here, just Miriam going down, but i need to talk a bit about this room. This room is very detailed. Above, you can see what it looks like some kind of hatch, so, maybe you need to open that hatch to reach this area. On the left, the passage seems blocked by a wall. The towerd in the middle has lamps and if you look at it's sides, you can see a corridor on the background and this corridor has a layer with plataforms. Again, a lot of details for this area and i'm impressed how much work they spent on doing that. THE IMPALED DEMON
We've seen this area before. It's the room at the entrance that has a impaled demon and a pool of blood underneath. It looks darker, but there is some details in the background (right below) that looks redder. A interesting contrast. THE SPEEDING SHARD
Clock Tower again, i believe. This corridor goes on a spin, while Miriam is using a shard that let's her run in fast speed. It is a obvious reminiscent of the famed Black Panther Soul from Aria/Dawn of Sorrow that let Soma traverse the castle in a fast speed while damaging enemies. THE ELEVATOR
The classic elevator, a element on Symphony of the Night and Harmony of Dissonance, not very used after these games, for some unknown reason. Not much to say, besides being a nice touch. THE LAVA
Man, this lava looks bright, as it should be. This whole place looks like a huge cavern, most probably underground. The enemy Miriam is facing looks some kind of Morte-like enemy, i don't know if it is a Morte Bone that is shining due to the lava or some kind of enemy we didn't seen before. Miriam is holding a new Sword that is hard to tell if has any special property. THE BACKER PORTRAITS
I'm wondering if they switched the backer portraits, from the entrance to the Clock Tower region. Why the keep spinning is also beyond me. Maybe they actually have a reason, besides filling up the kickstarter promise? That would be neat. CRAFTING
The crafting screen has a lot of information that i don't need to describe here. A list of weapons (Toradar, Culverin, Betelgeuse, Varethragna, Adrasteia...) and ingredients. Right after it, we can see Miriam using a newly crafted weapon. FIRE DEMON-LIKE SHARD
Here, we can see Miriam using another fire attack that looks like Morte Cannon Shard but it isn't. Miriam summoned some kind of Dog Head that shoots flame. This corridor looks like the "up / down" corridor from above, so maybe it is the same region. SABNOCK AND A EVIL-LOOKING ARMOR
Sabnock (whose i hope it's shard, that didn't work on the demo, works now lol) and a evil-looking armor with a menacing weapon. The room looks like the entrance, so i believe the entrance was revamped and new enemies were added. Miriam is using Plume Parma shard. DOUBLE-JUMP
Double Jump (a skill shard) being used on the Clock Tower region. It's a beautiful little effect, where it seems Miriam grows some kind of colored shard or fairy wings (or both?). I wonder how (if) Miriam will fly, if she has such ability. THE DRAGON
A classic dark dragon with purpe-like flames. An obvious boss (if this is an enemy, i would be surprised). VALEFOR
Valefor, a boss from Curse of the Moon, shows up on Ritual of the Night. Although there is some criticism to his look, i think he looks okay, but i would like to see him inside a gold-filled room like he is on Curse. And what the hell are this weird green field with glyphs and those bright spikes (??) at it's room on the celling? THE CHAINED DOG HEAD
This Dog Head, chained somewhere, chases Miriam. For some reason, i feel like this is some kind of puzzle situation, where you need to figure it out how to flee from this area or something. I also believe that the Fire Shard where Miriam summons a dog head (up above) may be from this guy. THE DEMON CAT
This demon cat looks suspiciously like the one-eyed cat portrait from 2018 demo. I have a feeling this is the pet of a backer that was turned into a enemy or boss. That was one of the promises on kickstarter. It looks funny! VALAC
This is obviously Valac, a boss from curse of the moon. This weird-looking jaw that can be fused to turn into a single creature looks even weirder on 3d, in a good way. Also, it actually has some kind of human-like huge tongue-skeleton below it's second jaw, what a bizarre and creative design. I really liked it and it is obvious that he is the boss of the Clock tower region. Maybe we fight him while going up and down the tower? that would be awesome. GEBEL AND GREMORY
Gremory gained new colors and both her and Gebel looks different and better detailed. It's nice to see this scene again, further reinforcing that Gremory really looks like Gebel's "Death" of some sort. BLOODLESS
Bloodless suffered some small changes, and i like how she looks. Not much to say, and her face looks cute! MIRIAM AND ZANGETSU
Miriam and Zangetsu traversing the castle together, using Zangetsu's arm chain. That looks neat and i'm SURE this will be enough material for shipping lol INVERT
"Invert!" Ah, IGA, you naughty boy! Since 2015 that people ask if the game will have a inverted castle and he didn't said a thing, just saying he would prefer not to comment about it. And now they show THIS? A room where you can invert the whole castle? I believe "Invert" is some kind of progression Shard (maybe a Skill Shard) that you can only use at these rooms. (I don't believe you can use it anywhere, but if you can, that would REALLY SURPRISE ME). That's such a creative idea, a twist to what we could expect from a inverted castle. A really nice touch! You got us! FINISHING COMMENTS
The Hype is back. The graphics looks WAY better than 2018 Demo, colorful but dark, with deep layerrs but not confusing. Enemies looks neat, the whole castle structure looks interesting and we can see a lot of depth and details. I know there is still criticism to be done, but i'm happy with what i'm seeing. Thank you IGA, for bringing this genre back to us. I hope Bloodstained turns into a franchise. IGAVANIA IS BACK FOLKS! That's all folks!

they complain about the trailer being released first in the Nintendo Direct, a complete non-issue So, the game got announced first for a platform that wasn't even in the original Kickstarter, after having four other original platforms cancelled, and you don't see why some backers might have a teensy-weensy problem with that?
Bullshit. Everyone got the trailer at the same time and no, the game did not got announced “first” for a platform that wasn’t in the original Kickstarter. The game got announced in 2015, remember? It’s just that this particular trailer got broadcasted first for the 500,000 people who watched this live in the Nintendo Direct. Who cares it wasn’t sent to backers first? Not me! Even if that was the case, Iga’s Official YouTube channel would’ve uploaded the video there for everyone to see anyway. Seriously people complain about everything. You could give a bag of gold to someone in the internet and they’ll whine that the bag is too heavy.

So you fail to give the backers a proper release date once again and just give them a vague release windows of "Summer 2019". And on top of that the trailer was released on a Nintendo Direct instead of the backers getting it first. Way to go 505 Games / ArtPlay, your incompetence knows no bounds and it's clear that your priorities don't lie with the backers. Now let's talk about the graphics. They look subpar, to say the least. I just did a side by side comparison of this trailer with the 2016 demo footage and that still looks far better. So what I can take from this is that the final product will look worse than it's first ever demo. Whatever happened to that promise of making the game look better after the 2018 demo fiasco? This game used to be a day one purchase for me, but ever since the delay and the platform cancellations I lost a lot of respect for the devs / publishers and lost almost all interest in the game. I might pick it up in the future when it's heavily discounted on Steam and something tells me that this might happen sooner than later. But like a wise japanese philosopher would say: "It's better than nothing™". Cry me a fucking river! Had they sent us the trailer via a backer email they would’ve need to upload the video to YouTube anyways and they always did so publicly for anyone to see, not just backers. Instantly after the video aired in the Direct a proper trailer got released on Iga’s channel as well as Nintendo, PlayStation, and Xbox’ channels. You’re just looking for anything to whine about and it’s getting tiring.

Pure Miriam Y'know, if it's one thing out of all of this that I'm most excited for (and the whole trailer was awesome from beginning to end)... It's the simple possibility that this "sword of light" could be Vajra, the lightning-sword of Indra ("god of lightning, thunder, rain, & rivers" in Hindu mythology). Its name means both "diamond" and "thunderbolt" in Sanskrit. It seems obvious to me from the visuals that it's a lightning-element weapon, but I'd have to take a good look at the weapon's hilt (the "vajra" ceremonial tool looks like this).

One thing I haven't seen people mention is that in the trailer it looked like a rapier weapon had a combo of attacks that ended in a rapid flurry of thrusts. Were weapon types given combos?

Wally I'm not sure about combos, but IGA did confirm a while back that some weapons will have special-input attacks (just like past Castlevania games he's produced).

Okay, so, not only we have a trailer, we also have TWO Direct Nintendo videos with other footage of the game (posted above). OF COURSE i couldn't let this slip, so, here goes: THE LIBRARY
This looks like a library, shelves and shelves and shelves of books and a great work of lightning up there on the celling. The shining rays really gave a outstanding look to the whole scenery. THE CLOCK TOWER, AGAIN
More of the Clock Tower (they really loved this scenario, didn't they?) with a flying enemy. Not much to say. THE "VAMPIRE"
Okay, that colored me surprised. I remember the "mysterious man" character, that had nothing but a silhouete and now we have this (that i guess it is him). It looks like a vampire and he is talking with Miriam as if he isn't human, so, i'm calling him "The Vampire" for now, since we don't know who he is yet. The way he looks and poses looks a bit like Gebel, almost as if they have the same model, just heavily modified. THE CARRIAGE AND MIRIAM
Here it is, the confirmation that Miriam actually rides this carriage and it is used to break part of the Garden of Silence scenario. More and more i'm feeling as if this carriage is like the ferryman on SOTN or a shard that summons it (although, now, i think the shard theory is less likely). GEARS...AGAIN
More of the now, already famed Clock Tower scenario. Man, i think they worked so hard on this one that they REALLY wanted to show it off! THE STURDY ENEMY
A hard looking enemy (guess where? The Clock Tower region) with a huge, menacing shield that takes little damage. I believe it most probably has an easier way to kill it, with some specific weapon or magic. THE SPEAR SPECIAL ATTACK
Miriam is using a spear and doing a special attack against the Were-wolf enemy. Looks neat. THE GUARD SHARD
Here (yes, at the Clock Tower area again) Miriam summons some kind of Shard that looks like the head of a dog that protects her from attacks. Although the effect is different, those dog heads that keep showing up reminds me of the "Custos" Glyphs from Order of Ecclesia. Three magic powers you needed to unlock the last area of the game and all of them worked by summoning dog heads. INVERT CAN BE USED ANYWHERE
We can see "Invert!" (That now, I'M SURE it is a Shard) being used anywhere. This looks like the entrance corridor. That is REALLY interesting, imagine the possibilities of being able to spin the castle around anywhere (or at most places?). Enemies change? They simply fall down? There are enemies on the celling already? THE SHELVES
Several shelves of books falling down to form a path, probably activated by a switch of some sort. Neat. THE GREEN DRAGON
This Dragon looks like another one that was shown before, but the other was red / purple. So, that means there are more dragon-like enemies of different colors? QUEST GIVER
A villager, most probably a quest giver, finding Miriam's "decorations" to be weird. Most of these villagers look quite generic and i'm sure they are like that so the main characters can stand out. CUSTOMIZATION
Here it is folks, the promised character customization. You can change Miriam's colors (skin, hair, clothes), hairstyle and more! THE PORTRAIT ENEMIES
The backer portraits can be seen here, and Miriam is actually fightning against one? So, that means the backer portraits are ENEMIES? Damn, if that's true, imagine how these backers may feel by being turned into enemies of this game. That's REALLY AWESOME! ALSO, CRISSAEGRIM IS IN THE HOUSE, IT IS BACK FOLKS (as this Green Fast Sword)! THE NEW VILLAGE
The village was redesigned. It looks way more menacing and sinister with all this red light to it. And it looks way better too. MORE AND MORE AND MORE GEARS
Do i need to say anything? THE PINK FAIRY FAMILIAR
Not only, this room is quite funny, Miriam is sitting down and suddenly some kind of large spear pokes at her ass ( lol ) but Miriam has a pink fairy familiar here, that is resting on her shoulder THE LASER GUN
BEWARE THE LASER GUN! Galamoth I remember you talking about the Vajra before.I really loved that weapon and i'm waiting for it to come back and yes, it looks like it.

I was waiting on that classic Pure Miriam breakdown post and he never dissapoints! That sword of light looks badass, I cant wait to see some of the other weapons, its clear there are a ton.
EDIT: I also want to say, Mana's box art is incredible! I was already excited since I backed the game high enough to get the Ayame Kojima box art as well but wow, I did not expect the team would actually let Mana do the main art herself. Well done!

ReySol Sorry, just saw your comment now, no worries, thanks! BloodyTears92 no worries, many did due to the name. It wasn't so long ago i decided to put my gender on the profile haha. This AMAZING piece of artwork from Mana reveals more than it seems. At Miriam's left shoulder, we can see: Buer (Familiar), some kind of Skull, Dullahammer Head (Familiar), The Pink Fairy (Familiar that shows up on these videos). At Miriam's head, we can see something that looks like a Winged demon. At the Sword's blade, close to Gebel's reflection, we can see: A demon with an eye inside of it's mouth and below it, a dog that really looks like Gieremund (that wasn't a Familiar Shard, but a Conjur Shard). Maybe these are all Familiars (and Gieremund's Shard change it's type) or maybe they are mixed, Familiars and summons (from other Shard types).

The other thing I really don`t like is the dog head, I hope it is there just this one time in the game. I think this dog is ugly and disgusting and would prefer a more menacing kind of devilish dog/wolf. Careful, ReySol . The other thing I really don`t like is the dog head, I hope it is there just this one time in the game. I think this dog is ugly and disgusting and would prefer a more menacing kind of devilish dog/wolf. Careful, ReySol . For me, dogs are much more disgusting than spiders, I believe everyone has some animals that they see this way.

HAVE YOU PLAYED HOLLOW KNIGHT? EVERYONE LOVES HOLLOW KNIGHT! HOLLOW KNIGHT. HOLLOW KNIGHT! HOLLOW KNIIIIIIIIGHT! Yeah. Hollow Knight is a thing for some people. I personally don't like it. Do I think Hollow Knight is a terrible game? Nope. It's just not a game for me. Is Bloodstained the most gorgeous game there ever was? Nah. But I didn't want that. I wanted the successor to Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and everything here says I'm getting *more* than that. Shwing! The ONE THING I'm not getting is a nice Alfred from the looks of it. Dammit. I wanted Alfred to be playable and likeable, not a shifty neckbeard who can also turn your internal organs into hot, hot death. Do you see what I did, eru? I had an opinion and didn't need to belittle others or even any of the games mentioned to make it.

Hey PM, EXCELLENT analysis, your breakdown makes things look even better than the trailer did because it's easier to focus on details that way. Great work. More excited now than I was...
Some thoughts: yeah the "Coachman" is a character that was mentioned/featured in an update, I believe the voice acting one, so I think you're on target that he's essentially a new ferryman.
The laser teleporting ability I'm betting is the shard of CotM's stage 7 boss, "Bathin", who is probably the boss of the RotN library area.

Opinions are like assholes. Everybody has one and most of them stink. From everything we've seen Bloodstained has very low quality textures, unless they have 4k textures hidden for release, that's a fact, not opinion.
High quality textures = good Low quality textures = bad Bloodstained =
Textures alone don't make great looking game, it's combination of them, animations, lightning etc. I'm not saying Hollow knight is best looking metroidvania ever, but it does what it wants extremely well, that trailer is absolutely amazing, everything fits and nothing pops out. Bloodstained trailer is just giant "meh", the only way to improve the experience is to watch it on smallest screen possible, fullscreen on 1440 makes me want to kill myself. Here's cherry picked one
Feel free to think it's belittling of me to say anyone who thinks that looks good has no taste.
Edit: I dare you to find me something similar in that hollow knight trailer.
