Great find! Very happy to hear this. Simon's Quest is still one of my favorites. Rough around the edges or not, it's just plain memorable. Still one of the eeriest-feeling entries, too, despite being only 8-bit. Oddly, based on the comments on the link, people still aren't willing to give something like Castlevania 64's Villa the same credit. But both Symphony of the Night and stuff like Castlevania 64's Villa were considered legit to me because of the legacy of Simon's Quest, so IGA's right about how it eased some fans in. (I bet the MSX2 Vampire Killer was helpful to other fans.) Curious that more of Simon's Quest's design philosophy never found its way into the IGAvanias--an interconnected 2D countryside with towns/dungeons, puzzles, (and death pits).
