So in the interest of brevity, I just want to say the game is much better than the previous beta (kudos to the team for a marked improvement ), but still needs some tweaks, as outlined below.
Movement
Movement feels light and somewhat floaty. Miriam starts of slow and then speeds up, which looks natural, but may be too slow for gameplay. Still, it is much better than the last beta. I was unable to do many precise jumps before that I am able to do now. Which leads me to...
Animation
The turn animation is too slow. She takes forever to turn around, which becomes evident when you are attacked from behind and then hit, even though you are turning to attempt to strike first. Other animations are great, although I agree the effect of getting a shard is very disruptive. Miriam's open mouth during speaking scenes are really awkward, as are the dramatic poses that seem mistimed between cut scenes. I get they are going for dramatic, but they so far are not lining up properly.
UI
This needs some work, particularly in item/weapon selection, inventory management, buying things and the gathering of quests. There is no classification of speed for the weapons before buying or equipping items. For example, the spear is slower than the short sword, which is slower than the dagger. I get I should discover the nuances of each weapon (in particular the arc and hitbox), that's half the fun of this game, but not knowing ahead of time how fast a swing is makes many items a frustrating sequence of trial and error and wasted purchases. As for inventory, I should know immediately without going into another menu whether I have an item in that slot to use (perhaps a ding noise and being unable to drill down would be a faster alternative?). In the store, I should be able to buy (select to buy) more than one distinct item at a time (not multiples, i.e. a dagger and 10 pieces of bronze). It makes buying materials or items a chore when I have to keep going back in and hearing someone's greeting when I want to buy multiple things. Quests are so annoying; I want to shout at the screen every time I talk to the lady that offers quests.
Quests
This character needs work. Her voice is so annoying and her vehemence borders on absurd for every phrase she speaks. In addition, it would be extremely helpful to know, either in a menu or a notification, when a quest is able to be turned in. Maybe this is coming, but it is currently tedious to go all the way back to the Village and discover that you have one more Dullahammer to beat to get the last quest turned in. If I have to micromanage quests, I would rather just not do them, and that defeats the purpose.
Music
The music is starting to come together. Others have posted this before, but what happened in the Village? It seems like a bug, but often there is no music at all, or it suddenly stops and does not pick up again.
Thank you for allowing our input and giving us a chance to contribute - I am looking forward to the release with enthusiasm!
