I visited my first "castle" on a school field trip around 5th grade (about 10 years ago). It was the Castillo de San Marcos. We had a guide to tell us what each rooms did, the history of the castle, how it was built and all of that cool stuff. It was memorable because all of that information helped me picture myself into that time period. The 2nd castle-ish place I've visited was the Chichen Itza. It was nice to see something cool and beautiful built by my ancestors. So what cool memorable forts/temples/castles have you been to in life?

None. I live in Canada, which is devoid of any castles, and I've never been able to go on a vacation.... Someone hold me! *runs away sobbing*

That would be a cool place to visit for sure, but Quebec is far away, and technically I still wouldn't really call it a castle since it was not really made for defense in mind at all with all glass windows everywhere. I imagine the walls aren't built to take a beating either. The shape is still pretty though.

Castle; a magnificent and imposing mansion, especially one that is the home or former home of a member of the nobility.
Tell me it's not the definition of Castlevania: The home of DRACULA.

The use of the term castle varies a lot, but I was mostly talking about older buildings that may have had religious use or meant for battle. These days the castles don't really need to be built for war anymore, but instead to impress, so the term in this topic can be used more loosely I guess I should change the topic to: "What cool old architectural buildings/structure have you visited"? I could count the Disney Castle as one, but I didn't find it as interesting.

There's no Castle here in Brazil, though there is some fortress. It's a shame ._.

Even broad definitions of being an old building kinda disqualify Canadian 'castles' imo since this is in fact 'the new world'.
As for Ciel, I feel your pain! Though you have raining spiders! Surely that counts for something =P

I actually visited a "Castle" (relatively small) near my own neighborhood down in Maryland, once. It's in the National Park Seminary area of Forest Glen. Unfortunately, I can't find the pictures of my own that I know I took of the castle, so here's some alternative images: I think this fountain is still there. I do believe this inner part is renovated. There's even a Japanese-style pagoda nearby.
