I'm not even talking about the walking and attacking and such, just the basic idle and talking animations look pretty dumb. Miriam's talking animation in particular is especially bad: it looks like she's unhinging her jaw and sticking her tongue out half the time, though hers isn't the only one that's goofy. The idle animations also look really over-exaggerated and silly, which is especially noticeable during conversations. Johannes's is probably the worst offender in this regard. Also, not sure if anyone's noticed this, but half of the book Gebel is holding clips into his body during his normal standing pose, which is impossible not to notice once you've seen it. I would either adjust the position of his hand or have him close the book to address this.

Yeah the animation work is one of the things that bummed me out about it that I didn't think would be an issue based on the first demo. Some of the enemies feel really stiff and slow.....and a lot of the death animations enemies just kinda slump over or bounce on the ground and vanish into specks.

She and Johnnes mouths and faces seemed older. I thought it was just a thing until I saw Anne and Dominique. Am I the only one in thinking that there is something wrong with Anne's face?

In short:
- NPC cutscenes lipsync need to match the english language and japanese.
- Face expressions need work.
- Lightning need work.
- More frames during action cutscenes are needed for a fluid transcendance from one stand to another.
- When using the shard-attack Dullahammer head as an example in mid-air but get canceled when direct hit onto an enemy before the shard-attack have made its animation fully may result in Miriam dropping down or become knocked back, with a jumping pose stuck on objects on the floor. Clearly a bug about animation vs objects (like those stone ones on the Silent Garden platforms after getting hit by a Plume Flying Pig.

I didn't know whether to laugh or cringe when I saw that. She yells in agony, and then turns to the camera with this blank N64-looking face, as if the voice file and the animation were made by 2 departments at 2 different times. The shard plunging into her looks great though!

I strongly feel they should get rid of the talking animations for dialog scenes and replace them with static portraits. Not only is this extremely common (Persona uses them, Shantae games use them) but it's what the Castlevania games used, and Bloodstained is obviously trying to mimic those. It would also be easier to implement than tuning the animations for both English and Japanese. That's time and effort that would be better applied to polishing up other parts of the game. Plus, we'd get more great Mana art out of it.
Miriam's running animation doesn't seem to loop properly to me. There's a slight stutter that makes it look like she has a limp. I don't remember that in the original demo and don't know why they changed it. Also somebody please fix the animation of that dude running away from the monster in the very beginning. It looks like something out of Team America.

Disagree on static portraits. They should fix Miriam's slack jawed look, but otherwise I found it nice.
