According to Konami's Exhibitor Directory for this year's E3, it seems they'll be announcing both a new Action/Adventure game as well as some sort of compilation (both multi-platform). Some, including Derrick Bitner of GameXplain, are thinking the latter might be a Castlevania compilation, similar to CAPCOM's recent Mega Man Legacy Collection series. How would you feel if this happened? Personally, I would be excited at the chance to finally play the acclaimed Aria of Sorrow (good ol' fluffy coat boy always seemed pretty swell). The ability to play the Japanese version of each game, like in the recent Mega Man compilations, would also be excellent. Having access to the more forgiving Famicom Disk System version of Dracula's Curse would mean I might actually beat Dracula's Curse at some point within my lifetime. Considering the recent announcement of Grimoire of Souls, with all the characters having their original, non-rebooted looks, it seems like Konami has at least some interest in bringing the series back. A slightly cynical part of me feels that, if Konami does this, it would only be out of a desire to capitalize on the hype surrounding Bloodstained's approaching release. However, if one good game makes people want to put other good games out there, I can't bring myself to find it too objectionable. |

I have my emulators, so no need, thank you. Besides, there is no chance that niche oldies will be included, like my favorite, Sega Saturn, Japanese Sotn. Or the Wii beat em up. Etc.

I doubt there will ever be a DS compilation/rerelease, they would need to remake the game parts that use the touch screen (The seals in Dawn, the Sisters mode in Portrait) unless they planned on releasing it on the 3DS but I can't help but think Nintendo would have gotten Konami to do that a long time ago if they were interested, still with Bloodstained coming out they could be banking on that renewed interest.

It's not like Bloodstained can't claim to not be taking advantage of Castlevania love so it would only be fair, hell this may lead to Konami making a "REAL" Castlevania game even.

a compilation for PC would be a must. I would love to play all Castlevanias on PC, with some high definition filters and whatnot.

Aria of Sorrow is a damn classic. To me, the game is superior to Symphony of the Night in some aspects. And the most important part of it, is the fact that this game created the "take powers from enemies" system, where Soma can get souls from enemies and use such souls as powers, called Soul Dominance.
IGA himself considers Soul Dominance "the best magic system" his team ever created, to the point he basically tried to follow that formula at other games, Dawn of Sorrow had a updated version of the system, Portrait of Ruin had skills and magics from enemies and at the scenario, Order of Ecclesia had somehow a similar system and so on...
And that was the reason for Bloodstained Shard System.

yeah I've been saying LoS collection and MGSurvive ;p But anyway, more seriously I think it's possibly this, from an older rumor: www.nintendolife.com/news/2018/01/rumour_konami_is_bringing_its_wiiware_rebirth_series_to_switchFirst circulated late Dec/early Jan, but that's one site that talks about it. I think this is both a good and very probable scenario, and the "4th ReBirth" game could very well be a Castlevania. It'd be pretty funny though if it was CV3 after Bloodstained basically already beat them to it. That's what I WANTED them to do for years, but of course never have. |

A compilation of all the handheld Igavania games (plus a few classicvanias) is the only way Konami's getting my money.

Normally I would be excited for a compilation like that but I've replayed the games so much I don't even know if I want that. I was hoping for a compilation for the ps2 games remastered for a very long time but since they didn't do it I ended up replaying Curse of Darkness recently again.

You're safe on Dawn there because as someone mentioned, doing a compilation would basically have to exclude the DS games because of their features...unless it was some wacky mobile port I guess. Heh...heh?
A rumor is that the collection includes SotN and "classic" Castlevania games.
