Songs that give you the feels

Try not to cry after watching the movie.

Tori Amos: Hey Jupiter. We were listening to it in the car on the way to dinner last night. My youngest daughter is visiting us from Wisconsin. There's a part of the song where it sort of sounds like Tori is almost crying. I guess it was enough to send the little one over the edge. She started crying because she doesn't want to go back home next week. I don't think I can ever listen to this again without thinking of that.

There are some songs in life associated by rough times. It totally ruins them for me. It could be years later, but if I hear certain songs that were popular when something bad was going on it just digs up stuff I don't want to think about.

On the positive side though, there are songs I associate with the happiest times of my life, or the positive parts of the tough times. Sometimes I think we have a much deeper capacity for feeling pain than joy. This is probably for the best, as pain is not good for survival so we should avoid it. I just hope that we can appreciate the blessings we do have, because humans also have an infinite capacity to take things for granted.

So let's not to forget to have some bizarre celebrations in life. Thus I give you this:



This song is from a band I got to know during a very rough time in life, and yet I loved it anyway. I shared it with my kids, and even made a  video of them with that as the song. The pictures are of the three of us on our own for the first time in life learning to have fun and to squeeze every ounce of quality out of every precious minute we would have together. This was in 2009 and the quality is crap, but I will share anyway. Video Link

"Snow Rain" from Nanoha As (the original TV version). Alas it seems that every version of it on youtube that wasn't a cover or from movie was taken down so no links for me to post :/

It is amazing how the tempo of this song changes from joyful to melancholy.

For a song that gives me goosebumps almost every time I hear this from GotS:SAC.  I just get so hyped and excited by this tune.  I only wish they had had an opportunity to use the whole song somewhere in the series.
