I have a Question . The local co-op option is only avaliable for the pstv and not the other two vita models, right? I cannot fathom how it would work on a handheld vita, but the pstv seems like the perfect fit for local co-op. Also, does Armature Studio have someone on this forum to answer questions about the vita version? Thank you for your time, Question !

As an owner of PSTV, I would still like to hear more about this...
Especially since I'm not sure Armature is still being part of the picture. In update #18 they pledged support for the PSTV:
/posts/1254965
"PlayStation TV - We’ll also make sure that the game is fully playable on the PS TV. "
That was in 2015.
However, a recent tweet alarmed me:
Bloodstained: RotN (tweet of 16 May 2018)
"No development or QA efforts are being put into Vita TV compatibility, only Vita itself, so we cannot confirm that it will run unaided. Many games do run just fine, but it's not something we can guarantee."
I really hope they do work on this though, as my only Vita system is a PSTV. Perhaps we should buy one and send it to the team for some development & QA research? (I'm being serious here)

I might suggest looking into whitelisting options on the PSTV if yours is compatible. NOT PIRACY mind you, but Anti-Blacklist. Because the PSTV blocks a lot of perfectly valid games for no reason, and I feel like that's a fair enough change to make to the system.
That way you can actually play the games you purchased. Though sadly you may have to wait till the end of the year for the option to become available to you.

For now I'm just staying positive. Curse of the Moon works fine on my PSTV, so I'm in a good mood

People, you can make any PS Vita game bootable on PSTV with any firmware, no Henkaku required: 1- Download and install QCMA: codestation.github.io/qcma/2- Download and install PSVIMGTOOLS-FRONTEND: github.com/SilicaAndPina/psvimgtools-frontend/releases3- Remove your memory card from your PSTV 4- Link your PSTV with your PC using QCMA and the backup option in your PSTV 5- Backup the internal PSTV storage to your PC (it will be very fast) 6- Using PSVIMGTOOLS-FRONTEND, load your PSTV backup and patch the Whitelist option 7- Restore that backup on your PSTV, turn it off, insert back your memory card and Voilà!! Note, I said bootable, not playable, if the game requires motion controls, camera or touch screen, the game will be either hard to play or unplayable.

Yeah, I know there's that trick, but honestly the two hardware are very close and Armature pledged support for PS TV in 2015, so I'm crossing fingers for official support.

My conclusion after many months of research on the subject is that this entier compatibility issue is more about business than anything else. Some sources tell me that an extra fee is required for a PSTV "licence", others tellme that this is because 3rd parties don't want consumers to buy a cheaper version of the game to play on their TVS, they want them to pay for the full console price or double-dip if the want both the TV and handheld experience and some source told me that it's both those reasons.

I just want to know about the couch co-op, obviously for the pstv as it would be really impractical to do on the handheld variants of the ps vita.

Ya, but the local co-op is probably just for the console versions, 3DS and Vita probably need to play local wireless (or LAN for PSTV). I know that the PSTV can support more than 1 DualShock 3/4, but that's just for PS1 games or PS4 Remote Play, don't think there's such a thing as a co-op Vita game on the same PSTV system.

The quote about PSTV development listed above was in regards to a CotM question. Ritual is still being developed with PSTV in mind. I don't know how it ties into the local co-op stretch goal.

yeah, demiurgos is right. Several developers actually cared, and I can count on top of my head Curses n Chaos, Guacamelee, Crypt of Necrodancer, Spelunky and Risk of Rain. Not half bad!
Edit: Question, you made my day. Wait probably month. Won't get a better news this June!

Why wouldn’t indies count? Skullgirls 2nd Encore uses it, Nidhögg and Towerfall among others. If indie developers are able to pull it off, it shouldn’t really be a matter for the bigger dev houses to make it happen... or am I wrong? I believe not.

With all due respect to indie game makers, if a big publisher (Capcom for example) would have used it back in the days for it's physical released, it would have been more mainstream. Hell, big publishers even used that feature for the Super GameBoy on the SNES, so it's sad that it has not been utilized for the PSTV outside of the indie scene after the system was canned.
