Purchased a second wireless XBox 360 controller to get that little device to be able to play Steam games with ease... and wow! Dust: An Elysian Tale, Shantae the Pirate's Curse and Tales of Zestiria play so smoothly. I am now ready for the day Bloodstained is available! Also bought the superb Suikoden I+II as well as the two Tales fighting games for my PSP.
I better stop buying stuff for a little while. ^^

I had a frustrating experience at work, but when I was done for the day I got all packed up and ready for a fun time at PAX South! Even went out and bought some last-minute snacks to share with my hotel roommates.

Even went out and bought some last-minute snacks to share with my hotel roommates. We all have our crappy moments, getting away of them to find pure fun is also part of the deal. Have loads of fun there!

I had a good first day of PAX South (and the day before that). I'll probably write a longer version when I'm more awake/alert.
Day 0 -Arrived in SA and explored the convention center until I realized I was being mistaken for an Enforcer and wasn't supposed to be walking around in certain areas. -Joined a group of cool people for dinner, we all tried joining the pre-PAX bar crawl, decided to do one of our own, and a few people joined us!
Day 1 -Arrived 4 hrs early to get into the expo hall and play Zelda: BotW on Switch. I was one of the first in line, but still had to wait an hour to play because media had priority. -Bought a shirt from Fangamer's booth and met Steve, his wife, and some other members of the Fangamer crew. They are all cool and super great people. -Explored the expo hall -Played Dauntless (Free-to-play western version of Monster Hunter focusing on boss battles) -Discovered a group of Overwatch cosplayers doing their own photoshoot in a hotel lobby, hung out, watched everything happen, and met people. It was well-organized, there were professional photographers, and I was quite impressed by the whole thing. -Got dinner at Kimura Ramen, the place I went to last year -Saw the Late Night Dub Fight panel. It was hilarious. -GOT TO MEET JERRY HOLKINS (Mike Gabe) FROM PENNY ARCADE AND CO-CREATOR OF PAX in a hotel lobby as I was trying to get from one point to another and thanked him for his work on the webcomic and the convention! -Hung out with a different cool group from yesterday for two hours and became part of a PAX entourage

Goob's been busy, hope you keep having a great time. I've just been in the process of getting things finally straightened out from the move last June. May pop on here off and on, until I can get up and running and start catching up on ideas and what I've missed for months. Hope you all have been as well as you can.

Going to contribute to the InDemand version of the Indivisible kickstarter... It's their Slacker Backer equivalent. A game I wished for a while too! ...And done!!

PAX Day 2 -Saw the panel where Mike and Jerry (Tycho and Gabe) made a new Penny Arcade comic strip and just hung out, told stories, and answered questions while just being themselves in front of a full three-floor audience. This could've been considered performance art. I loved every second of it. -Went around to the some of the PAX XP stations to unlock a story and win a prize by scanning my badge -Realized the hat I wore went missing, scrambled around re-tracing my steps trying to find it, and a PAX Enforcer found it near the end of the day. -Saw the "Hidden Gems" panel. One panelist talked about "Shadow of Destiny", which I was familiar with, and hearing them talk about it felt like knowing the punchline to a joke while still feeling a sense of anticipation because you want to see everyone else's reaction. -Played Freedom Planet 2, Attack on Kitten, and Dreadnought -Witnessed 50 Team Skull cosplayers riding down an escalator in the main hall while chanting "TEAM SKULL" over and over. It was great. -Saw the "Movies with Mikey" panel -Hung out in a hotel lobby and played board games until 1 am
Day 3 -Played Rime, Earthfall, Battle Sloths, Atlas Reactor, Hyper Universe, Tower 57, the Specter Knight add-on for Shovel Knight, Sausage Sports Club, and Forsaken Castle. -Saw the "My Favorite Terrible Game" panel -Finished getting my badge scanned at all the PAX XP stations and got the prize for completing it: a nice keychain and a short story. -Bought a copy of the Earthbound Legends of Localization book from Fangamer as a last day "treat yo self!" big merch purchase. It is incredibly nice and I don't think I can describe how happy I am with it. Five minutes later I decided I wanted to pick up a copy of the Legend of Zelda Localization book, but the booth was all sold out of them (which is probably a good thing since it means people are interested in and enjoying it). But I had another idea... -Bought a copy of The Flintstones: The Rescue of Dino and Hoppy from a vendor because I used to rent the game from a grocery store as a kid but never actually owned it, and also because of I'm a fan of the whole 7 Grand Dad/Siivagunner thing that spawned from it. -As I beat my last game demo, Forsaken Castle, I got a message saying "Thanks for coming to PAX and thanks for playing!" right as the convention center PA system played an announcement saying it was time for the expo hall to close.
I couldn't think of a better way to end the whole experience.
...Until I remembered that the real PAX (or any other good gaming, anime, comic, or sci-fi convention) is the friends you make along the way. So I spent the rest of the evening playing card and roleplaying games with people in a hotel lobby, showing off my Legends of Localization book to some other Earthbound fans, and talking with people I met during the event, hours after it officially ended.

I have been trying a few demos of games on Steam lately. Today, it was Fortune Summoners. It is a very cute game that seems to take the most inspiration from Ys III (which I never played, btw). And so, I play it* until Arche, the protagonist, goes to class. I then quit fullscreen mode for some reason and get back to it... The result is hilarious. It's all garbled. The following screenshot is worth a thousand words... Enjoy! Bonus points if you manage to see that there are words in the mix. Please just don't overdo it. Ms. Sophia: Does everyone underst and? Arche: Umm... Dear Teacher, is no an acceptable answer?
Etc.
*Well, I try to. The lag is intense there. Too bad, so sad. QQ.

So, today my eyeglasses were damaged. I think my niece and one of my nephews were playing on top of them, but the 'arms' that fit behind my ears are bent out of shape and so they can't comfortably fit on my face. And when they do basically fit, they just fall off in a minute or two. Then, a bit of the bottom of my right shoe on my usual pair of shoes fell off, making it feel rather awkward when I walk around in them.
The problem with the shoes is tolerable, I'll probably just adjust to it after an hour or so of walking in them, but the glasses need to be corrected as soon as possible. In the urgent sense, I can't safely drive if a simple road bump is all it'll take to make my glasses which I need to see (very near-sighted) fall off my face. In the less urgent sense, if I were to watch something recorded on the DVR or try to play a home console game, the TV monitor will just be a blurry mess to me.

Ah yes, glasses, I've been there too. Go see your optician at once. It's fine as long as they're not broken. In that case, I would hope you got a backup pair, but sadly it seems you don't at all.
Someday, if your vision gets stable (maybe it is already), you should go for vision correction surgery. I went for it and it's a whole different world (esp' when it comes to swimming or not having to look for them in the morning and after a shower or so).
Etc.

Got this in the mail today. Ordered it from Fangamer when I arrived home from PAX. Sure arrived fast! I also realized I'm going to have to buy every single future entry in the Legends of Localization series, and possibly even give copies to friends as gifts. What have you and your Fangamer friends and family done to me, Fangamer Steve?

I just finished a sweet little free indie game named Eternal Senia. Easy to play, short in total length, but worth every minute.
I don't care if it exudes of girly vibes. It's a great game.
Time to return to the usual gaming routine now...
P.S.: For those who want a testosterone-packed free game, there's The Expendabros (which I finished today as well) Another magnificent game, but relatively on the completely opposite side of Eternal Senia. *grins*

I made "employee of the month" at work today. It felt good. I also ended up working two hours longer than I was supposed to in order to help everyone else catch up with goals they were trying to meet, which is probably the type of behavior that caused me to get recognized in the first place.
Also bought the Humble Freedom Bundle and Star Wars Bundle 3 yesterday since I'd be getting a bunch of great games while supporting causes ans organizations I believe in, and so I could give away the keys to games I already owned to my friends who have yet to play them.

Let's revive this thread!
I have begun and finished Princess Remedy in a World of Hurt, a fun little free game that mixes genres, but not so much. I have yet to resume/begin others, including Dysfunctional Systems and that russian VN named Eternal Summer. Recettear is also a nice hybrid of genres, a cool game. There are also so many games I have to resume. My head is full of plans.
There is so much to discover and explore, stories to partake in, characters to get attached to, goals to accomplish, clashes to initiate and solve...
When people ask me if videogames could bore me, I ask them "Why do you think it is possible? There is so much still to see and experience!". They're portals to other worlds, a way to sense what creative minds could come up with (if it's not a movie or book or fan story and so on), sometimes the materialization of one's dream...
As long as it doesn't clash with one usual, mundane, routine-full, maybe boring existence on planet Earth ^^

I had a adventurous weekend at the SXSW gaming expo. Got to do lots of cool stuff, like... -See the 2017 Sonic the Hedgehog panel with the Flying Battery Zone reveal for Sonic Mania and gameplay (and name) reveal for Sonic Forces, hosted by the guy who runs the Sonic twitter account for Sega. Roger Craig Smith, Mike Pollock, and Takashi Iizuka were there, and they all ended up staying two hours after the panel to sign autographs for fans. It was also Iizuka's birthday and everyone sang happy birthday to him. -Play various indie games in the expo hall. My favorite was Sky Noon, where you play as cowboys trying to shoot eachother off of a floating arena while using a grappling hook to traverse. -Meet and hang out with the creators/devs behind Owlboy, Pony Island, and Obduction. -Took a break from the gaming expo to see some comedians provide live commentary over Leprechaun: In the Hood on St. Patrick's day. -Participate the Telltale Games crowdplay event for a rough/unfinished version of the whole first episode of their Guardians of the Galaxy game. There was one magical moment where the audio cut out for a few minutes but the game's subtitles were on, and the audience started shouting the character dialog at the screen in unison for about three minutes before things went back to normal. -I'd also like to add that Telltale asked the audience not to give away story details and I'm going to respect their request. However, I will say I was happy with the song choices, annoyed with the tone of the first 30 minutes of the game, but satisfied and impressed with the direction the game went after that. -See an Overwatch panel with Sombra's VA and the game's lead writer. There were families and little kids and teenagers there and I noticed a guy sitting behind me had a media badge for a big gaming site was covering it. -See the Owlboy panel where the devs talked bout the game's long development process. EDIT: Also, Sombra's VA autographed my physical copy of Overwatch and wrote "boop!" near Tracer's butt, but it looks more like "pooop!" and I think it's hilarious.
