Attacks & Skills
Miriam use a wide arrange of weapons, passive skills and active skills along with some "magic alchemy" to attack, heal, move and protect herself against enemies and situations. She is the main character, and the one we are introduced to before finishing the game and unlocking (at least;) 2 other characters, which of at this moment are unannounced.
Here I brainstorm attacks & skills on the characters, those that I believe will be playable. This post covers only the main game and not any prequel. There is no indication of any sort that these things will end up in the game or even been considered ever. Feel free to brainstorm your own ideas in this thread and share them with the community. Thanks.
Zangetsu
Main Weapon: Katana Sword (Melee)
Zangetsu uses a two-hand katana sword in a sequence of 3 strikes. Jumpkick and dodge move which he rolls away, this dodge can be combined with a strike from his sword if needed which can cut off projectiles towards him. His sword can be combined with relics.
Additional Attack: Oni Destruction Cards (Ranged)
Zangetsu can also use his cards from afar to curse, weaken, attack, poison and stun enemies. This additional attack uses roses as ammunition and are combined with relics.
Relics: Chi, Sub, Kasai, Seinaru, Dark Matter, Iron, Mokuzai, Osore
Finding these allows you to combine them with your sword or your cards as you please, the will change the weapon and add attributes, making them different or stronger. This will allow you to play with something that fits you.
Passives: Grappling hook to reach hights (have at start, or an item you find), Blocking stance by hitting "up" on controler.
Chi + Katana - Stronger attack and faster dodge, makes you weaker against dark, ice, fire and poison attacks however.
Chi + Card - Stronger damage and faster throw, takes a bit more ammunition however.
Sub + Katana - Frost damage with a splash damage when you hit the ground. Chance of slow down bigger enemies.
Sub + Card - Frost damage with a splash damage surrounding that enemy. Chance of freezing lesser enemies.
Kasai + Katana - Burning damage which leaves a trail after with flames for a short while. Critical hits deal additional fire damage.
Kasai + Card - Burning damage but shorter range. Chance to set enemy on fire and do splash damage. Upon enemy death - leave a small pile of fire to do additional damage.
Seinaru + Katana - Holy damage. Upon enemy death - chance of regeneration of health based on your level.
Seinaru + Card - Holy damage and faster throw, takes a bit more ammunition however. Strong against dark.
Dark Matter + Katana - Third strike have a chance of knockback, if enemy is hitting a wall or an object, it will register as an additional critical hit.
Dark Matter + Card - You now throw three cards in a straight line, if all three hits same enemy, chance of explosive splash damage may occur. Each card is a bit weaker but with good aim you can take down three minions for the price of one around you.
Iron + Katana - Chance of bleeding damage over time, calculated along with your actual level. Slower attack but a little bit more power.
Iron + Card - Chance of stunning enemies for a short amount of time with electricity, when combined with dark matter katana = chance of turn enemies to stone.
Mokuzai + Katana - Poison damage each third strike if animation is not interupted. Upon enemy death - leave a small cloud of poison for additional damage.
Mokuzai + Card - Chance of tree-rooting enemies down for a short amount of time. Critical hit deals additional poison damage.
Osore + Katana - Striking an enemy with a chance of it fear you. Upon feared enemy death - chance of leaving additional items.
Osore + Card - Chance of target to get cursed and afraid of you, weak against many kinds of attacks during a short amount of time.
This would allow you to spice up the gameplay and do cool combinations.
Dominique
Main Weapon: Exorcism
Dominique is an exorcist dispatched by the church, she now supports Miriam and are confirmed as a shopkeeper. She might be a playable character, using mostly ranged abilities and melee defence. Exorcism is her main attack which projectile spirit attack with a half-screen radius. She dodge by sliding.
Additional Attack: Rituals
As an exorcist, she may practice some rituals, these make her to stop for a moment to do movements and speak some words to summon, and relics can be used to modify the ritual to her liking. Original ritual allows her to make a barrier to protect herself for a few seconds after its been cast, and these rituals take roses as "ammunition".
Relics: Chi, Sub, Kasai, Seinaru, Dark Matter, Iron, Mokuzai, Osore
Finding these allows you to combine them with your exorcism and rituals as you please, the will change the casting and add attributes, making them different or stronger. This will allow you to play with something that fits you.
Passives: Can triple jump using spirits, either from start or along with an skill you find. Upon critical hits in a row, Dominique get a small burst of speed.
Chi + Exorcism - Full screen radius, also add a little bit more physical damage.
Chi + Ritual - Now take less of the roses when used, casting is also a bit faster.
Sub + Exorcism - Chance on freezing the enemy or to slow it down.
Sub + Ritual - The barrier are frozen, leaving a chilling additional damage to enemies that comes too close with a chance of them to become slow.
Kasai + Exorcism - Spirit now are made of fire and does additional burn damage over time with a splash damage.
Kasai + Ritual - Cast a wild fire-ring around her, dealing damage as fire in wider radius. Upon enemy death: Leave the place of body burning for a short amount of time.
Seinaru + Exorcism - Two spirits, a bit weaker but are now homing. Dealing holy damage. Similar to "Amy" enemies.
Seinaru + Ritual - Charge up to burst an holy explosion, dealing holy + physical damage close to you. Need to be timed for great damage.
Dark Matter + Exorcism - Chance to curse an enemy, which get weaker against (many) attacks. Upon enemy death, higher chance in finding gold or potions.
Dark Matter + Ritual - Blind most of the enemies on screen for few seconds. (May not work on every enemy or boss)
Iron + Exorcism - Slower spirit projectile that now goes through enemies, dealing addtional physical damage if enemy walks along with it.
Iron + Ritual - You gain a spiritual armor, taking less damage and enemies deal thorn / bleeding damage if they hit you. Wears off in seconds or until hit too much.
Mokuzai + Exorcism - Poison damage. On impact leaves a cloud of spores that does additional damage within that area.
Mokuzai + Ritual - Chance of rooting enemy to it's place. Upon enemy death: Leave thorny weed to spread and dish out damage if enemy step on them in a short amount of time before dying off.
Osore + Exorcism - Spirit gives additional electric damage upon impact which can spread damage to other enemies close by.
Osore + Ritual - Chance of charm an enemy you touch to fight for you and succumb into madness. Weaker enemy, and can be killed by you. Last for a small amount of time.
What are your thoughts and ideas?
