I'm only here because of some email telling me this is important. However, reading this I get the feeling this isn't something I want to vote for. There is nothing wrong with either of the art, but there is a lot I find to be questionable with the intent. From what I understand Natsume-san's art is what IGA has chosen and Mana's art is that something that you personally are pushing for. You said the artist herself can't go up to IGA and ask to be involved in the project because there would be bias and it would be unprofessional due to her existing position as an employee of ArtPlay. So then you would just gather a group of fans to ask instead in your place because ArtPlay is incapable of asking? That also doesn't sound very professional to me. Not to mention that the OP seems completely biased towards Mana. There is no mention of what Natsume-san's art detracts from the game or what it does for the game. I backed this game so I can enjoy a game that IGA himself envisioned, I believe the choice should be left to him and whoever has a hand in the creation and development. ArtPlay should make this proposal in an official capacity instead of trying to round up a bunch of fans to force the change by popular opinion. If IGA himself thinks changing artists is the right choice, then as a backer I have no objections whatsoever. This is just my opinion as someone who only reads the development updates and not acquainted with the community. Please correct me if I have my facts wrong. Perfectly said. I backed for Iga's vision and that of the dev team. I really hate this design by committee mindset and feel it will be detrimental to the game in the end. If, and only if, the devs want to change artists then let them. |

Yes. It's good. It feels like castlevania. I feel at a certain point you are creating a product. There is nothing more powerful now than this format of communication. Man, I bet IGA and all the og designers wish they could get this type of input back when. I think alot about the integrity of an artist. You shouldn't be strong armed into changing your art. But when you are making a product, it isn't about your integrity as an individual. Bigger than that. It's everyone's job on the line when it comes to creating a complete product. It's success, and the future of the company, the team. They said they had banks involved, right? You need a lot of money to do this. Did they still have to secure financing after the Kickstarter? It takes a team to make a product. He knows that. It takes a complete product to secure the future of the company. I'm sure they'll make the right choice.

I'm probably in the minority, but I really prefer Natsume's artwork. The brighter use of colors combined with unrealistically pale skintones give Bloodstained's art an otherworldly feel. The more muted facial expressions lend the characters a more somber feel fitting of a Gothic setting as well.

I can't tell you exactly how I know this at this point in time, but I assure you it's true. This is our opportunity to get as close to Ayami Kojima as we are going to get. I see. This still does not change my opinion that this sort of request for change should be put through the official channels to be decided by the creator and development team though. Unless I'm mistaken, admins of this forum such as yourself are employees of ArtPlay, and so I do not believe it is appropriate for ArtPlay employees or associates to promote their fellow coworkers in an official poll. Anyway, general opinion on /v/ seems to be that the art style is meh, at least what's seen from the demos. My personal opinion has been that the current art style is passable, but nothing that really "wows" me. Whatever the case with this poll, I think it's imperative that some collaboration with other artists is a good thing. I don't want this becoming one of *those* Kickstarter games. It's in everyone's interest to get this resolved quickly and neatly.

I voted no because I like how vibrant the colors are and soft tone of the current art style. I won't get into any specifics that irk me about either piece since most of what would be said overlaps.
I would love to see her in an art direction role because of the technical skill displayed and strong impression her drawing.
It radiates closely to the same emotions I get whenever I see Kojima's work and stays true to what this game is about along with its roots.

This is an official fan poll by a forum / community manager to get official artist, friend and community manager of Bloodstained's official art included more in the game. The topic have since changed (moments ago) due to new information about Natsume not being part of the main game anymore (but in the prequel).

This game is obviously a spiritual successor to SOTN and Igavianias alike, geared towards fans of the series. Why not have art that could be considered a spiritual successor to Kojima? Thanks for creating this OP.
