So I was inspired by how if you tried to be a smartypants and have 100% when fighting the Ridley robot in Metroid: Zero Mission, it's have more health and be stronger. Some older Konami games gave enemies more health in multiplayer, as well.
So this lead me to an idea where if you level up too high, a boss could have an extra move, extra health or move faster, stuff like that. This way, trying to be overpowered would turn against you to some degree.

This way, trying to be overpowered would turn against you to some degree. This is why we have New Game Plus, to make it easier on you, or Nightmare Difficulty to have a clean game with "more moves" and such. The level itself should be carried over from game to new game plus to new game plus. So we can level up, and become like a GOD if we want - and yet have the options to keep it casual / normal or difficult. Options like that are what makes the game interesting and a wider range of players would enjoy it. Punishment is not a way to go for really making an effort in becoming stronger.

i think it would be cool but NO. this should not happen.
one of the many advantages that games with a leveling system have to offer to the player its the overleveling and grinding wich is not always something that can be considered optional. certainly it would be a cool thing if bosses adjust its power to the player level but not in a game like bloodstained and its one of the things that personally i dont see in many games. i think the only game i have played with this mechanic its final fantasy 8.
if i think about it. why should i try to get stronger if at the end of the day the boss will be stronger too? my little 9 nine year old brother being a kid he is typical child that sees himself as some kind of godly gamer that can beat any game without effort until i tried to teach him a lesson and made him play Dark souls 3. have you seen a 9 year old play Dark Souls? its scary and extremely unpredictable. he got his ass kicked countless times, he cried and cursed while my dad wasnt home and almost killed the controller but in the end he learned that if he wanted to increase his chances to win he had to level up (git gud) and ofc he eventually won but not just because of leveling but because he mastered the boss movements and learned how to dodge and predict its attacks wich is the most important thing when retrying bosses and if the boss changes mechanics the stronger you get then this becomes a bit tedious. now if this is locked to change only if the player goes to a higher difficulty mode yes i would love it.
my humble opinion but if for some twisted reason this makes it in game honestly i wont have a problem with that.

I'm going to say no to that because I would feel discouraged from exploring the game, grinding a rare drop, etc. Less experienced players that need those levels to advance the game would likely be put off as well since they're being punished for compensating their lack of skill or their own limitations.

Nightmare mode will eventually cover that. There is no need for bosses to be adaptative, I guess.

That mode should be a clean or a boosted restart, depending on the choice you make before entering the new game. Nightmare said during kickstarter that enemies might get new attack patterns. That would include bosses. But they said they hoped to make it, so no guarantee.

I'd love to see some reaction like if bosses have maybe different dialogue and make fun of you or maybe they being scared etc.
But I wouldn't alter boss stats, especially not dongle boss levels at the player level

NG+ can make the game easier or harder. The latter approach is favored nowadays as it adds an extra challenge to the game. I am rather intrigued on what we will get then, maybe full freedom on choice. As for Nightmare mode, it's all about secrets, again. Nothing can be deduced since we got zero leads and then speculations are not something I'm fond of going for. By the way, I wouldn't mind one boss to troll Miriam (or any other character), Psycho Mantis-style, as in "Oh, you sure came prepared, maybe too much. Watch out for your future." and so on. It's what I thought when seeing the thread's title. It was not the case. Key Hey, that's Key from Key the Metal Idol.

I think it'd be pretty funny if there was a wannabe boss or regular enemy that just straight up laid down (or something similar) and let you kill it if you overlevelled, or got to a certain point in the game before you fought it. But, it'd have to be used sparingly and unexpectedly.

It would be funny, but I can see why people wouldn't want this. I give it a maybe. Scaling a boss to be at your level is something some people have wanted for a while. Though with a game like this? It's hard to say.
