So in the shoutbox just now, folks were talking about how they thought the galleon might be going to the village and then the castle, where they are in relation to each other, etc, and it prompted me to connect a few dots there.
Judging from the volcanic-looking landscape around the village, I think its location may very well actually be:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kirkjub%C3%A6jarklaustur
Iceland, the site of the Laki eruption, which was part of the basis for IGA's plot. It's also a port town.

Well maybe it won't take up too much space, like 90% to 95% of Bloodstained should be made up of castle. a ship and village is ok, though they should save room space so their largest IGAvania castle ever is the most wholesome castle ever.

Probably will become one. Most likely. He's got a meaty castle thread right over yonder...
(meaty castles are the best castles )
It'll be really cool if I'm right about the village. IGA is really slick with his historic/mythological tie-ins.

I can't be friends with them anymore I saw a critique of SOTN's flawless castle in that thread You probably are right, IGA does do his research. I'll be pumped to find out more about this game in general. Trying to not be impatient but i'm super impatient...but i'm trying to not be..... AHRHHGHJGHJHJRH. Kickstarters are bad for me.. lol

OMG. YES! Seriously though, the point was valid. The promise was technically the biggest castle so it kinda sucked when it was said the other areas count as part of that. So here's hoping it's still the biggest castle or at least VERY close to it. Obviously not everyone cares about that is much as me because some people like hub environments and some people like the Classicvania approach.

We need to pool some money and buy Castle Stress Balls for IGA and team with the Bloodstained logo on them. It's the logical next step after donuts. Right?

I always thought a refreshment after food were the way to go. But seeing how much work are put into the game, it might come in handy to train those hands before opening the winebottle during launch.

It's a cute castle (Disney-like), but we need a dark one for it to fit the 'stained ambience. I do not think they make custom variations, though. Too bad, so sad.

http://instagr.am/p/BYrKENplYNd Every CM needs one!Wait, what were the topic of this thread again? The village's location ... Riiight! Back on track guys.Do you think we unlock NPC's as we progress? Or should the village be lively right at the start? And what if some NPC's are in the game when playing Miriam, that you could play as later, would we see Miriam take their place? Like for example if Dominique would be a shopkeeper, whould it be Miriam when we played as Dominique? Or would Anne just take over? And what about the lore, do you think it will be somewhat changed from the NPC view when you pick other characters, are just the same and "generic" like "Thank you!" and not "Thank you! You are not from here, are you? I love your black hair!" < Stuff like that could really be a thorn if you suddenly play a bald guy or something..

Not crowded given the context, but not deserted. I don't want a OoE II in that regard. Some I guess would want to exit their houses as soon as they are sure that there is less danger around (that the immediate one has been taken care of). Maybe a very few would have to be saved, like one or two, more would be boring. I want adaptative NPC lines, yes. It's quite something that bothers me in RPGs, you know. The situation, the character that they respond to, the possession of some item... I want them to be more alive. Maybe some would need to be present/absent at some times. As for the shop, it's clearly Dominique and Anne taking turns (yes, I'll say again that I do believe then that the former will be playable!) As for Miriam as a non-playable character in other scenarios, I am very clueless. I neither want her to stupidly camp in the village or be laying down all sick nor her act like Zero in the Megaman X series (as her being beaten up in an automatic scene and being forced to retreat). I'd then want her to only be present in the battle against Gebel or something, then you help her or you (try to?) save her from her almost fully-formed curse.

I'd like to see villagers who know about Gebel and the castle nearby. Also, it would be cool to have some villagers lie to you as in Simon's Quest. Or demons in the castle who pretend to fall to your mercy, but then lie to you about what is ahead.

Hopefully not too close to how it was done in Simon's Quest. I think the dialog in Simon's Quest was pretty poor to the point where it wasn't really worth talking with most of the villagers in that game.

Villagers lying to Miriam would work well, if they have some heavy truth to hide. G aining their trust by defeating a strong monster, saving one of them or helping them with food would be cool.
That said, some problems arise from that:
- Would it be that Miriam never visited the village before? It could work in the prequel if she is featured there.
- If this happens in the main game, would they always be the same for each playable character? I doubt it.
- What is in their interest to lie, when the risk of death is so close? When it comes to Simon's Quest, little made sense. The villagers can safely hide in their homes at night, when monsters prowl around, they don't care misleading the one that is working hard to save them.

The village, or a few must know about Miriam. Johannes and Alfred. Then the fact that we have Gebel across the hills with his castle. It could very well be the birthplace of her shards, and after Johannes taking her away, or if she were sent off because her coma (and not having the power Alfred wanted) she are going back as soon as she knows about what happened. Now, how it all plays out is anyones guess, but knowing Dominique and Zangetsu being two warriors of the "light / good", it would seem that they understand Miriam somewhat during her quest and will aid her somehow. I think Zangetsu will be a strict lone wolf here, and keep tabs on Miriam, sense that she is actually ready to be fullu corrupted or something. The villagers might not lie, but Alfred will probably do so, mostly because we know this NPC are one of the first ones introduces, and a driving force of many in the official LORE in Bloodstained, even if he only say "nope" all the time, he is vital. If he is a villain, he will lie. When it comes to riddles and such, those days have passed - and today we are more focused on the adventure rather than backstory. We should know when Miriam know and that will be a direct input. Not a "story of legends". How the villagers will play out might be limited, and I think there is some things that will be story-driven, and others just pure shop-driven / crafting and getting items to boost the ease of progress.
