I can imagine many of these points I am making, but I know a few, and those I know are the big ones. So hear me out.
Here are a few reasons things are getting silent, a calm before the storm.
During the kickstarter campaign, they mention something about calm, and storm. For them it is storm pretty much every day. For IGA it means approximately 2-4 hours sleep each night. For the rest of the small groups, they sleep whenever they feel they have the time for it.
Many people are doing many different things. I could take Mana for example, while being a Community Translator, Manager, Updater and a general voice of what we could expect, she is part of the team as an artist, a designer, she also goes to many meetings where she is needed, events and interviews. All this goes hand in hand for being a part of a translation between developers and community representative as well as fans. She does have a voice in the development, and it is on the same length as ours and she is one of few that actually can give us updates directly on the forums, I know she is working like crazy and hopefully she have fun while doing so. Bloodstained - Ritual of the Night's core is something up to the developers and mostly IGA, we still are the ones that needs to be satisfied with the end-result, and they know it as well as deeply respect it.
Just a few days ago, I know they had a few meetings with many different people... Just a month ago I know they stated in interviews that they are looking into, if they want and need, staggered content, same month they spoke something about an early access and also something about that backers could perhaps try it out during a period, for testing and feedback. Other interview stated they 'are' getting ready for an alpha build. These things have since become main talks on and off across communities, spreading like wildfire. "Are we getting a Demo?!", yes, probably - They did after all promise something, but they never said what kind of demo. Perhaps it is not even a demo, but a longer length, spoiler-filled early access that will be a better test-area for constructive feedback from us.
Giving the backers the early access, and perhaps even news sites thereafter, are a good call. I have been reading up, thanks to Lestaroth, about "the game that shall not be named". What went wrong and how things could've been handled way better. Broken promises and fans being left in the dark. Early access for the fans very soon is the key here, make those of us that can and have the time to give back responsive feedback a real chance in doing so. Those that are against spoilers should have the option to at least try it as well if they want, as long as they have backed the project or perhaps can buy it until the early access are done. Let Romscout take the lead in bugtest the game with glitch and bug-exploded speed runs, take the information and make a priority-list. And let them read our threads and posts for making improvements, spread the hype across streaming and video-service-sites.
Now, back to reality... Whenever silence occurred in another HUGE company, which I read up on, waited and played games from during alpha and beta periods. There were always huge chunks of information brought to us, both on the forums, as playable content AND discussions among fans alike. The huge updates made up for the silence, and the silence is here for a reason.
There are things happening right now that we do not know much about. I know a few things that I can't discuss, but I will say this; After a few meetings, plans and efforts are made, there will be plenty of new things to look forward to, how about introduction of how the Familiars will be personal, colorful and balanced. How about the double jump which are not (or maybe is by the time you are reading this,) fully animated. How about crafting (if this is in the game). How about the enemies, the bosses, the epic loot and the NPC and the other playable characters? New environments, new pieces of classic music?
The things we would NOT expect are: Information on the story, how things will unfold. Secrets in general.
The things we might see next year, close to release: The extra modes and the difficulty 'Nightmare'. The prequel game.
I know things always loose its hype during a longer sessions of silent behavior, but we all know why we backed this project, and it is in good hands. I do not doubt for a second that this game will be anything other than a new checkpoint in my life as a whole. It might sound like high expectations, but since this is the only backer projects I have made, and perhaps will make, it has already set a mark in my journey from being a Castlevania-player to a Bloodstained-player.
And this my friends, is actually just the beginning.
Let's cross our fingers for an early access, some cool updates and podcasts and a wide timeperiod of alpha/beta-testing so we together can make it one epic adventure together with Miriam and friends.
TL;DR - It is silent for a good reason, expect huge updates and hopefully early access which must meet a quality to do the alpha-testing phase justice. Expect many more podcasts and updates in a near future.
