Miitopia is a turn based RPG coming out for the Nintendo 3DS/2DS systems that allow players to utilize their Mii's in a grand adventure. A Mysterious figure has appeared in the land of Miitopia, and has begun stealing the faces of the kingdoms inhabitants. Humanity's hope lies in the hands of a Mii whos granted a magic amulet which them the POWER OF JOBS to combat monsters, and free the faces of those who've had theirs stolen!
The fun aspect of the game is that all its characters are completely customizable, EVEN THE NPC's! By using the faces of Mii's made by your self, via QR Codes you find online, your 3DS/2DS's friends list, and even a newly released feature, Mii Central; where you can upload Mii's onto a special server for others to use, the characters you meet can be completely customized to fit your own personal taste!
Again you can customize simple towns people:
To Major characters who play a big role in the games story:
The game lets you start off with 6 Job Classes for your Mii's, these are also the only classes you have access too in the games demo:
- Knight = Defends allies low on health, decent physical damage, can cure some satus ailments, overall can do minor bits of everything sans healing directly.
- Mage = Think the Black Mage of the Final Fantasy series. Capable of dealing powerful magic skills that can target a single enemy, three at once, or all at once.
- Cleric = Think white Mage from the Final Fantasy series, the only class capable of reviving a fallen ally.
- Thief = Normal attack hits everyone. Can steal HP and MP restoring items, and can even lay traps.
- Pop Star = Normal attack hits everyone. Supports others by giving them an extra turn, or abusing the games friendship system. Can also distract enemies and has some attacks that can damage all enemies.
- Chef = A Healing Tank. Their weapons provide them attack and defense stats, they can heal the party with their cooking, and has decent fire magic attacks.
In the full version of the game you gain an additional six classes as the story progresses, as well as two secret classes that can be unlocked outside of the games story:
- Devil = A class that specializes in giving party members magic stats boosting. Can also cause negative status ailments to enemy forces. Is capable of regenerating ally MP by either Kissing (Female Devils) or Licking (Male Devils) their allies.
- Scientist = Magical damage that focuses on Area of Effect attacks. can also protect others from status effects, heal hp/mp, and buff other mii's attacks. Very versatile but eats through mp like candy.
- Cat = Think the Monk class from Final Fantasy, only fuzzier. High physical damage and speed, and can boost damage by sharpening their claws and stuff. Capable of recovering ally MP by rubbing against their allies.
- Tank = A Class that specializes in Pure physical offense and defense. Tends to use ally party members as ammunition for attacks, which can lower a characters friendship with them.
- Flower = An interesting class that functions like a Cleric, but with more special abilities that focus on attacking.
- Princess = A job class that specializes in both Attack and Support. Abilities can regain mp, protect against status effects, distract enemies, etc. All while having a Tea Party Mid-battle~
- Vampire = Special class found in a side quest. They specialize in elemental magic, as well as being able to steal enemy HP. When enemies attack them physically, the enemy who strikes will also receive damage. they can cast spells that will revive fallen allies after they fall. They also have a 50/50 chance of reviving them selves after fainting.
- Elf = An archer class that you unlock after beating the game, located at the end of a secret multi-floor dungeon on an island. the 'Jack of all trades' class. they can deal decent magic attacks, decent physical attacks, have effective healing, and can place protective barriers. However because they are a Jack of All, they are a Master of None.
Another aspect of your Mii's fighting style is their Personality. There are several different Personality Types you can give your Mii's, and this can effect how they behave both in, and out, of battle. Each personality type has both a negative trait alongside their positive one.
- Kind:
• Can try and convince an enemy to flee. If it fails, they can lose relationships with other miis.
• They will give bananas and candies to other miis even if they're not friends.
• They also will sometimes shield other miis even if they're not friends. - Energetic:
• Restores the MP of other miis when they run low.
• Will sometimes do bonus damage, but also take blowback. - Laid-back:
• Sometimes hides behind other miis. This can break connections.
• Randomly powers up their skills to extreme levels for one turn.
• Sometimes reduces the MP cost of their skills, in exchange for power.
• On buried treasure events, they only try once.
• They occasionally ignore any negative statuses. - Cool:
• Randomly powers up the standard attack.
• Has a medium chance to dodge attacks.
• On buried treasure events, they only try once.
• They occasionally ignore any negative statuses. - Stubborn:
• Randomly guards.
• Will sometimes turn down healing.
• Occasionally attacks twice. - Airheaded:
• Sometimes forgets which enemy they're attacking and just goes for another one.
• Can play with enemies, making both the mii and enemy lose a turn.
• When they find a bottle, they WILL drink it. - Cautious:
• Sometimes warms up before attacking, which boosts damage.
• Warmed-up attacks have a slight chance to one-shot.
• When they find a bottle, they WILL NOT drink it.
• Sometimes, they will use an HP Banana or MP Candy even if they have none left.
A Mii's appearance can change based on their armor, hat, and weapon they have equipped. Each armor set comes with multiple colors to chose from. Also the game comes with a special feature that lets you edit a characters armor in appearance, while keeping the stats of a stronger set. Say you have an awesome knight outfit for your Warrior, however the strongest armor set is a polka-dotted set with pastel color options. You can equip that polka dot armor, then go in and 'edit appearance, to have the look of the armor set you had before. Also hat's can be turned off if you don't like what's available~
The game also features a Bonding system. when your Mii's aren't fighting enemies and saving the world, they're staying at Inn's. And when two Mii's share a room, their bonds will grow, and the higher the bond, the better they function as a group.
Allies who share high friendships will defend injured allies, split healing items, perform group attacks, enhancing the attacks and specials of their allies, and even perform pincer attacks with one another. having two or three allies have an affinity for each other is good, however if all four active party members have a high affinity for each other, this some times results in all characters helping one another each and every turn.
Like a lot of Nintendo games, this one also has amiibo support! By using certain amiibo players are capable of unlocking alternate costumes for your Mii's. all costumes are available for all classes in the 'Edit appearance' option. all you need to do is talk to the Nintendo Fan girl who you can find through out the world, who will be dressed up in different Nintendo Character costumes in the different locations you find her in.
The Demo for Miitopia is currently available for Download from the Nintendo 3DS's E-shop, and the progress you make in the demo can be saved and transferred to the full game, which comes out July 21st.
