Yeah, I was looking at old characters animation sibe by side with the latest gameplay and some of them move a little faster, some of them a little slower. Basically, looks a like a non-issue.

The thing is they're trying to capture the 2d games look and feel and largely it's working when I played the demo it felt like I was controlling alucard in 2.5d.
However, it seems like SOME people out there because it's 2.5d they want it to be something else because them going for the 2d feel seems weird to them because of it not being 2d. I mean a lot of the complaints being levied at it are mainstay things within the 2d igavania games.
When Romscout who plays the igavania games to death, and knows things on a frame by frame basis says they nailed the feel of this game, I tend to trust his opinion over people who forget the other igavania's were also floaty.

Has anyone compared Miriam's jog speed to other Igavanias? Just curious, because it looks very slow, but I'm not so sure. Sorry if this has already been addressed, I don't check the forum often.

Wow... The game looks really great, it still needs a bit polish, but it looks great and fun. But... Loads and loads and loads and loads of negative comments at the youtube videos... this is making me worried

So it seems we get familiars like the Aria/Dawn sort of way in the form of enemies that have a shard? I hope it doesn't mean the familiar system is similar to that one because I liked the deeper approach where they level up, learn new things, have personality...etc.

Youtube comments are just horrendous. I wouldn't give them much credit because it's the same people that complained about the aesthetic shortly after the campaign and then praised the demo to high heavens. The average commenter seems like a sad folk full of hate and with childish mindset. In any case people like these piss me off A LOT. On the other hand, you have some legitimate critiqued which are more or less the same emerged in the update thread. The "too slow" thing is a non factor for me since the demo was okay in that regard (AND NO ONE COMPLAINED ABOUT IT AT THE TIME lol). I am absolutely happy with the trailer, and the things that need improvement will be improved, that I am certain of.

There are some additional screenshots posted over at NintendoLifeThe gameplay itself looks great, but the animated cutscenes look kind of bland, particularly in the backgrounds.

You people spend way too much time complaining about other people complaining. Some people are going to make hyperbolic complaints. Some will reveal they aren't very familiar with Igavanias of the past. Some have actually valuable and fair criticisms. Stop getting so bent out of shape about it. You also don't need to run interference for the dev team - they are all adults. You can either engage (respectfully) with those who you feel have erred in their criticism or you can ignore them. Just complaining about them seems like a waste of everyone's time? As for my criticisms so far, I would say the backgrounds/environments could use a bit more animation/interaction in some spots (chandeliers are an often cited example). Some spots look a little empty but it's unclear to me how much that has to do with enemy placement, the fact its a demo, etc. Boss theme, at a first pass, sounds mediocre but I could turn around with more exposure. Overall I'm liking what I'm seeing. Boss looks pretty cool too. I'll have more to say as I see more footage and if I ever get to play the demo

"looks slow" me: You're slow (No I didn't actually say that lol) I've got to remind myself that not everyone will like what I like and that's OK. When I see something negative, attacking people for their opinion will only make things worse, and the proper reaction is to just put my own positive comments out there. On the inside though... How can people not understand how awesome this is going to be?

Okay, one thing I want to note, that sexy camera swivel at 0.33 is EXACTLY the kind of effect I was hoping they would do with the 2.5D.

If there's one thing that I'm unhappy with from seeing the trailer, it's the total lack of facial animation during the cutscene - it looks strange, hearing VA laughing but having a completely straight face on that boss. I hope that they either keep the 2D-camera-perspective so you don't see the faces up close or add some facial animation for cutscenes like this.
As for all the people complaining about visuals and running animations - I'm starting to think that this game might not turn a profit, not because it's bad but because of people like these, wanting it to fail and spewing shit everywhere without ever explaining where exactly they are coming from. I hope I'm wrong but this seems worrysome. Maybe they are just the loud ones though with the quiet majority quite enjoying all they see. Like/dislike ratio on the trailer tells me as much...

Yeah, also a lot of the people seeing this may be young or uninformed to the point that they don't really know/understand what this is. I find myself subconsciously expecting the commenters to be familiar enough with IGA's games to know how they feel, but the majority of them may have only played SotN once or twice years ago, or only watched speed runs and have only that impression of their movement lol. Yeah, a lot of the internet only immerses themselves in the pro/entertaining gameplay of other people, so an informed opinion may be a lot to ask for...
That, and yes, a large number of folks out there are just jaded and spiteful. Not much can be done about that either, they're just unhappy with life most often, I think.
Regardless, as was said, sharing your own perspective is the best way to go. Almost everyone will have a "looks good" opinion and not act on commenting such (just as almost all reviews of anything on a product by users are 1 or 5), so we can be those of the few that stand up and say "hey I like it". One doesn't have to be in love with or hate something to say something about it, which is where unfair impressions of something arise in other people reading - the other less-informeds will just scan over that and assume. Those people will be wrong, probably, but they have the most free time on the internet and thus the most power to sway more impressions. If you're still feeling positive and optimistic, add your voice, it might help. Correcting misinformation is fine too imo, but a fight over short words won't be worth it.

Okay, there is a LOT to unpack in this gameplay I want to comment on: 1. I'm glad we get to see a lot of shards. Seeing our first familiar is a lot of fun and I'm glad they're a category all their own, just a nice thing to have and not have to micromanage and i cant wait to see more. 2. I'm thrilled at the commitment to dumb/silly ideas like conjuring crystal apes to leap across the screen, its just fun and an assurance they aren't taking themselves overly seriously. The fact that the boss beats you with an Umbrella is just icing on the cake (and its either an obvious nod to Carmilla or it just is Carmilla, either way I love it). 3. We have confirmation that there are "relic" shards locked in specific candles/etc. 4. DIVE. KICKS. CONFIRMED. 5. New music is great, as we expected, super glad Im getting this soundtrack. 6. The Greatswords have an oomph to them that is just sexy, though Im still so taken with that amazing whip animation. 7. Fire Cannon is the only returning power from the previous demo I think, and the visual effect on it has noticeably improved.
