This thread is my shot at making me heard:
My one and only big, big criticism I have with Castlevania Symphony of the Night is its Sound Mix. I hate how loud the sound effects are (sword slashes, yells, sounds of explosions, etc) in comparison to the volume of the background music.
We can all agree that the soundtrack of SOTN is sublime but I could never rock the music very loud because the second I'd kill, say, a zombie the noise it made when diying (bending backwards, yelling, blood gushing out) would be so goddamn loud it could destroy eardrums when wearing headphones.
Please, Iga. I beg you. Give us in the Options Menu a way to change the volume of the Music and Sound Effects to our will so I can rock Yamane’s music loud without risking sudden ear bleeds!
Please, Fangamer Steve, Mana, or whomever! If this could reach Iga I'd be eternally grateful!

A) I think this belongs more in the Game Feature Suggestions forum? I guess I'll leave that decision to purifyweirdshard et al. B) If you want to be extra sure Mana or Fangamer Steve see this thread, you may want to tag them C) Seems like a fine idea to me and I don't think it would be too hard to implement? A question worth asking

Yeah, I was thinking about moving this, but actually more along the lines of incorporating it into an "options" suggestion thread. Suppose I'll see what Aztec thinks about that.
But on the topic itself, yeah, I hope we get that. It's fairly common in modern games.

I like having loud sound effects! (That sound from the Marsil special is amazingly satisfying.) But I agree that we need an option to raise/lower both sound effects and music.

I leave it to you. Do what you think it's best

I read this thinking 'pshh', of COURSE They'll let you adjust the volumes, every game does! But SoTN not doing so is certainly cause for alarm (I forgot!). Good call.

SOTN certainly didn't let you. Did any of the other Igavanias on GBA/DS let you change this at all? I'm certain Circle of the Moon didn't but cant remember the rest. And in big budget AAA modern games there are a a bunch that don't either. Off the top of my head no Bungie game lets you be it any Halo from them or Destiny. Please Iga, let us enjoy the music and/or sound effects to our hearts content with this option!

Aztec Noted . Since the last Igavania (Order of Ecclesia) definitely had a sound config with SFX, music, and voices, I would assume Bloodstained will have one as well.

Makes me wonder if people try playing the game with the music off. I've done that sometimes with games, and it can change the experience.

I loved the sound effects in SOTN, I actually think it's some of the best in the series. Although some were definitely grating due to the mixing. Apparently Michiru Yamane also did the sound effects of that game, I wish she'd do them for all the games. They were great.
Either way, sign me up for sound options, SOTN could have used it for sure.

I've found a few games out there that I prefer to play without the music off. Based on what I've heard of the soundtrack for Bloodstained that's not going to be the case for this game. I would think that in this day and age some basic in-game volume controls would be a given. I don't remember seeing any lately that don't have this show up in the options somewhere.

You couldnt turn the volume up to hear the music without destroying your ears at the first kill of a zombie or those damn flying books, to name a few.

Some were grating because of the mixing, I like the actual SOUNDS and think they're the best of the series...( Yamane please do them again...)....but yeah the mixing was no good.

Hey Aztec, I certainly hope that your suggestion will be implemented. It's a feature that is present about everywhere now but is essential for a good game experience. It shouldn't be complicated to implement as well. Well done.

I think Mana liking the first post is a good sign that ...they might have something like it. I could be reading into it, but I imagine it would be straight up ignored if it wasn't being implemented.

I think Mana liking the first post is a good sign that ...they might have something like it. I could be reading into it, but I imagine it would be straight up ignored if it wasn't being implemented. Devs could eventually forget to implement these little ideas. This is where beta testers come into play, but also people like us, who are (more regularly) on the gaming side. Mana approving of it indeed is a positive hint.
