So I noticed in the update this quote: So is IGA not done writing the story/narrative? I remember past updates (from like a year ago) where he mentioned he wanted to finish writing things soon or was almost done. I guess I'm surprised he hasn't finished yet? Granted the game is at least a year off but I imagine having the story wrapped up makes the actual creation of the game easier and more cohesive? It would influence level and boss design at the very least. Approximately how done would you estimate IGA is with the story/narrative Mana ? Are there more major characters waiting to be revealed (a yes/no is a good enough answer at this point)? Or only/at least more villagers (ala Order of Ecclesia)? The way IGA writes up his update should be read in a more humorous way. When he mentions,"Maybe I can finally write up our story?" he means it in a slightly sarcastic way. The basic storyline is complete, no doubt. There's definitely room for minor tweaking and details to emphasize the Bloodstained narrative, which could be the reason why he is "actively building the story." He also mentions voice actors... This suggests that he has most of the dialogues complete, ready for recording. It should be noted that we are 2-3 steps ahead of what we're publicly announcing. Maybe I was too quick to share that bit on the BCB purifyweirdshard mentioned, but it's definitely more reassuring to the community to know that the story is mostly done than to say, not complete at all. I hope that clears up the mismatch  . Sorry to dogpile on you, but now that you popped in here, I asked earlier about the Book of Logaeth in the update. Is it actually spelled that way, or is that an error as it's supposed to be spelled the Book of Loagaeth? This to me is more mysterious than the story for the game, because I can't tell if the game is focusing on a fake or real book.  Hope you don't mind me asking you in this way about it. |

Hope you don't mind me asking you in this way about it. I think it's supposed to be Loagaeth but in the game design documents, it was written in many different ways. I'm assuming that when the original documents (written in Japanese) were translated, the person in charge before me wasn't sure if it was a real book or not (I saw "Rogeath" "Logaess" or something similar in the mix as well). I probably need to fix these myself so that the spelling is all consistent. |

Yeah, I generally read IGA's comments like that in a joking tone. Here's another more obvious recent example he did of that in the Feb update regarding the Yamane interview:
It's a very deep look at her personal life and process (not really).
lol. There's also often an air of humility and self-deprecating to what he says, so that fits as well.

It is my hope that the game's story gets out from under Ecclesia's shadow. It might be easier to do than it looks, Since it sounds like Gebel's castle is a means to an end, not the end itself. The original reason Gebel summoned the Castle was out of a desire to give Miriam a new home. Now, as Gebel doesn't seem to recall why he did it, the Castle is apparently the means by which Demons enter the natural world. "Hi Miriam, this castle is your new home. I hope it pleases you. It's really spacious and you'll have your own room, somewhere. Oh and don't mind the little catdoor-like portal, it's for our demon friends... Never mind. Haha." |

So, to perhaps keep the discussion going, something else I noticed about the update that I don't think anyone has called attention to yet is that Dominique and Anne had several profile shots that showed them from the front, sides and back. Alfred, for some reason, does not have concept art in the update showing what he looks like from behind like the others do.
Would having shown us this tell us something more than they were willing to say about his design or motive, or did they leave it out unintentionally or because they didn't feel it was as interesting? Can't say, but some possibilities did hit me with that.

At that time Lindsay and Dan Moore were in Japan. Lindsay works on the translation work for them at Fangamer if I'm correct. She's still in Japan I believe. So it could be as simple as that or maybe they decided to wait a bit closer to E3 so the tease is fresh before the main course? Who knows... |
