Is there a plan for those of us that backed the Wii U version? Seeing that Nintendo is done with the system, has there been a decision to convert these to Switch? Now that the Switch is really close to release, I'd love some insight about what I should do with my backed copy since the Wii U will be long dead before this baby comes out. Has there been chatter about a Switch version yet? I could only imagine this has been talked about in the office as we were talking about it in our months before the Switch had an announced date.

XombieMike asked Mana about this in December. It sounds like they are taking careful consideration in planning what to do about this situation. IGA will hold a poll and let the backers vote in mid-2018 or so.

IGA will hold a poll and let the backers vote in mid-2018 or so. I really dont think this should be left up to a poll. Iga should and needs to just cancel the WiiU version in favor of a Switch one while offering refunds for those unsatisfied. I really want Bloodstained to have the best chance it can get for success and that wont happen with a WiiU version. It wouldnt be the first nor will it be the last Kickstarted game that cancels a promised version. Things change and they have to adapt. For Iga's sake and Bloodstained's future they need to move on. WiiU backers would have PC, Mac, Linux, PS4, X1, Vita, and Switch to choose from. That's SEVEN platforms. I'm sure that by mid 2018 if they were hardcore enough to be a Nintendo only owners now they will have eventually upgraded to at least a Switch. If you backed BS on Kickstarter chances are youre a hardcore gamer and a hardcore gamer cannot possibly still be toting only a WiiU in 2018.

I do not think Wii U will be left out since it were a promise. I do however think Switch will also get a version, after the official launch to the other systems.
Since I have heard Unreal Engine is supported (correct me if I am wrong) it would be a fast fix.
I think it would be about the budget, fanbase and feedback combined in this topic.

Hopefully it's not after, or they give us backers a chance to get a backer copy for switch. It would be a shame to miss out on the sword whip and iga fight.

Another concern to have is that most video game physical distributors either specialize in cartridge or discs but not both.
So I predict that a physical NS backer copy will experience a delay.

Also, Judd on his last BCB with XombieMike was very adamant on saying that both a WiiU and Switch version weren't possible. Besides we only covered the stretch goal for one Nintendo port, not two. It's either WiiU or Switch and I'm willing to bet you it won't be WiiU. Like I said it wont be the first KS to do this. Shantae cancelled both PS360 promised versions and Yooka-Laylee cancelled the also promised WiiU version in favor of a Switch one. This is happening. And the sooner we acknowledge it the sooner we can help Iga move on and make this as painless as possible for his team.

Then if should be on Wii U, since people backed that up.
And as I said, Switch can come later on, if people are willing to buy the game so there is a budget for that version.
If people disagree, fine with me. But that is how I would respond. Giving up on a console feels so bad. This is why we shouldn't be surprised same thing happens to Switch later on and any other consoles.
I understand the reason why people want Iga to brake his promise, but it feels wrong. Its a matter of trust. If he says he will ignore Wii U and make it instead to the Switch, I can see that too. However, it goes against the backers request (on the paper).

I just want to point out that nothing has been decided. Nobody has said a poll is definitely happening and they haven't said the Wii U version is definitely cancelled.
It's complicated, like they said. I'm sure they'd like to keep it going like they've promised. Just like I'm sure WayForward would want to have kept the PS360 versions going. But sometimes logistics get in the way. Especially if there's a load of time in between the end of a campaign and when it comes out.
At the very least they've said that if a decision is going to be made then they'd come to the community for feedback. And I'm sure they'd try to do right as best they can depending on where things go afterward.
That's the state we're at right now. There's things you can infer from other situations but let's not jump to conclusions before they're even made. Especially when we're giving out info to others.

This game is coming out in mid 2018 at the earliest. Thats a almost one and a half years after both the Switch's launch and the death of the WiiU. Do you really, honestly think there will still be many backers left that only own a WiiU by then? It's not the same to cancel a WiiU 2015 game as it is to cancel a 2018 one. The reason Shantae cancelled the PS3 and 360 promised versions was precisely because they saw that, by the time the game was coming out, the amount of backers left still asking for those platforms was such a minuscule amount that it made no financial sense to release them anymore. Wayforward was going to loose money on them, so they axed them. I know Iga made a promise but if it stops making sense he needs to move on. Even if that means leaving behind a few backers who, for some godforsaken reason, are still only owning a WiiU smack dab in the middle of 2018. Im sounding probably like a broken record but it needs to be said: we're all Iga and Bloodstained fans here first and foremost and we al want the game to succeed and turn into a franchise. And if any of that is put in jeopardy because of a port few people would play and that would be a ton of trouble doing (Unreal 4 doesnt run on WiiU) they need and should drop it like a bad habit.

At the time we didn`t know what NX is, I didn`t want the Wii U port to be cancelled. Now that I know what it is and it is coming out soon, I really want it. It will be an easier port (because of UE4 support) and it should be a higher quality port than Wii U (I hope). I think it is really important for Bloodstained to come out on a Nintendo console. I will not buy Switch this year, but next year I definitely will, when probably Bloodstained will be ready. I don`t think many backers will be angry for the "switch" from Wii U to NX. We are all mostly just happy that this game is coming to life. I will find a way to play it no matter on which device (even though I have only Wii U and don`t have any good computer) and I am sure all other backers will do the same. I love Wii U very much, but thinking clearly, in 2018 it makes sense only to make a Switch port, no matter what was the kickstarter goal.
