I didn't like the level up system in Symphony of the Night. While it is probably more realistic, that doesn't automatically make it better. So I'd rather the standard system. As for inventory space, I'll be fine with it as long as there's no cap on the inventory itself. One of the most annoying occurrences in games is finding out my inventory is full and that I'll have to sell/drop some of my items. This wasn't an issue in any of the previous games, so I'm not worried about it, but it happens often enough in games now that I just had to mention it. I agree with all you said - good point about the global inventory cap. That would indeed be very annoying. Caps should of course be per item and not global.

Ah, so it seems I really was confused on trying to see what you meant there. Once again, if you have a 99 limit, you're never obligated to follow that. Even if you had so many in stock, you could NPC them or ignore them entirely. The same goes for the game-breaking weapons. A game too easy or not is an essential issue. That said we do have difficulty levels and then I am confident we will have a well-balanced difficulty level as the default one. There were threads about this, by the way. I should have begun with that: bloodstainedfanforums.com/thread/745/nightmare-difficulty-mode-submittedbloodstainedfanforums.com/thread/584/bloodstaineds-difficultyWell, if you don't mind about cheat codes being present in the game or how others tackle it, it's all good to me. I thought they bugged you.

Own cap on items. Powerful items, 1 cap. Having 2+ of the same weapon feels.. frustrating if I can't use them both at the same time.
Alternative: Every potion cost higher depending on your level. or. Based on how many you already own.
Don't know much about the EXP part. But I think I would like less EXP in higher difficulties. That is all, how its made is hard for me to suggest.
I want a familiar to recognize breakable walls that are needed to be broken for the sake of progression. But talking about secret walls, they can stay hidden. (Discussion is that I really want Familiars to matter in the game, all of them, equal!)
Iga castle will have silly cheats. I guess we might see a Pillow-weapon or something due to this. Funny things make the game feel like a fun platform.
Super powers? Yes please. If not for the silly cheats, then perhaps with skills or leveled up gear.

im all for 99 cap, with my playstyle any item above 2 (or 3 for double equips like weps or rings) is up for selling, which is the main point i have against any cap lower than 9
as for ultima gear, yes every game should have at least 1 set per char for the simple reason of having an ultimate set always seemingly just out of reach is a goal to strive for for players, and unless your game is designed SPECIFICALLY so you ABSOLUTELY must have the BEST gear in the game to even hope of EVER coming close to beating the final boss, then you should be designing with the non god tier players beating the game with non god tier gear in mind, a combination of difficulty modes and players want to challenge themselves with that lvl 1 naked nightmare mode run can keep many players pushing themselves
im for an assist power when exploring to help with finding secrets, but put it near the end of the game like the xray visor
xp degradation... sure why not, i still would prefer a way to freeze my xp or lvl when im farming so its easier for me to not be op because i just killed 300 final armors trying to get 2 god garb

I wish for different powerful "sets" for Miriam. Mostly due to the fact that not everyone enjoy playing with that 1 weapon item. Having a range of the absolute best ones are nice, and will appeal to more. What I am actually talking about is the weapon attack animation.

The only thing I disagree with is the secrets one. I say let secrets be secrets but I'm a big SOTN fan, so I'm very much in agreement with how that game worked over the other games.
Part of my love from the game is how you'd always somehow discover something new, to the point of you wondering what else there could be? The game telling me what's there kills the fun and adventure. It's like getting a map and it says .. " Nah, there's nothing more end your game." Even if there's nothing left if the game is packed with features let me find that out myself when I've virtually combed over and tried everything. Igavania's are adventure games at their heart and nothing gels better with adventure than discovery.

B: RotN will be my 1st Igavania game. You're a member of the forum, the slab of the internet where IGAvania fans rejoice and tell horror stories about their favorite Castlevania games, and you've never played any of them...? Oh my......your headstrong resolve to delve into another genre of game is...almost admirable. I'm assuming you've at least played Metroid...

exalt9, I'm glad Bloodstained appeals to people who have never played an IGAvania genius before. Hearing this will be your first makes me happy.

Oh my......your headstrong resolve to delve into another genre of game is...almost admirable. I'm assuming you've at least played Metroid... Now, now. It's true that the Igavania games are plain wonderful, playing them was a real delight for me. I do hunger for more, that is why I'm here. That said, exalt9 will enjoy the genre in its purest form, a bit like when I played CSOTN for the first time. Maybe will it be a reverse order in that he/she (there is no gender icon in the profile) will try the past games after a good experience with Bloodstained. Of course, linking it all to the past contexts (videogame platform capabilities, character choices, game setting...) will be quite interesting as well for that one.

My main opinion is XP scaling is terrible and should not come back.
Anything else I'm willing to see how it's implemented.

i decidet to test the demo, as Yän proposed and, by farming Ethers from Amy, the game indeed has a 99 cap, it seems. I was able to get 10 Ethers. So, it may be lower but, the demo, at least, have 99 item cap.

...Only a certain series got a very strange item limit, which is 15 for the Tales series. Gladly spells are powerful and reliable enough so you don't really go insane when low on them (even the recent ones like Zestiria and Berseria don't rely on TP anymore! -the equivalent of MP-)

Maybe there will be some counter-balance in place such as potions being hard to aquire. We'll see. I'll trust IGA's instinct to make a game that plays and feels balanced until then.

Talking specifically about potions, i did some other tests on the DEMO, just to verify something. The game may have a 99 item cap. But how much does the potions heal? Some Igavania games had fixed values, while some others had % values. I tested all avaliable potions on the demo, at LV 3 and LV 4 and could confirm that they are not % based, they are fixed. Here are their healing values: potion: +50 HP high potion: +100 HP ether: +20 MP high ether:+50 MP Thanks to a bug, people were able to level grind Miriam on the Demo (you can see that here). There seems to be some conflicting values (which could show a small random number inside leveling stats) but, considering that, her HP and MP values at some levels, are, as follows: Level 15: HP 288 / MP 190 Level 25: HP 408 / MP 270 Level 50: HP 708 / MP 470 Level 99: HP 1296 / MP 862 With that info, we can have some idea of the impact on the game for 99 potions item cap. Even so, if they are hard to find and / or expensive, those things may not matter too much.

Even so, if they are hard to find and / or expensive, those things may not matter too much. Interesting. These HP and MP values aren't high at all, for lv 99. It reminds me of what you would get in CSOTN. To make potions fully insignificant even if you were to get 99 of them, you'd have to multiply both MP and HP levels by ten (which is not the case here), but it would be rather unforgiving for a beginning. Now you said that you obtained 10 of them... A cap of 99 would be more likely then. For me, given the leaked temporary(?) data, to be balanced the cap for potions (at least) would be 9 and nothing else? I kind of see what Yän meant now. But again, it's a demo. It might be totally different in the end, still I have yet to see a demo of a game and a final product having totally different data values.

No, Lestaroth i do believe there are other ways to balance the game. Not only using the cap (if that's what you meant). Let's take Order of Ecclesia (don't know if you played it). It had a cap of 9, but it had several other healing items (mostly food). Even so, not only they were really hard to find, they were expensive, and you actually needed to unlock them with quests. So, you was limited to a single food item for around 20% of the game until you finally found a guy that gives you the quest to do the basic Potions (Potion and Ether of sorts). And then, you had to find items to finish quests to unlock better potion and food types at the shops. For exorbitant prices considering how much money you could farm. Even if Bloodstained have a 99 item cap, if the healing items are expensive, hard to find, hard to drop and/or it takes a lot of time for the shop to unlock the better types, you will probably struggle to have 99 of any type of them. Also, few Igavania games had healing magic/skills. Those who had, those skills normally were really ankward, consuming or hard to use to be really effective. Also, that is a DEMO, as you said. It may be different in the end, agree with you. They give us weapons, armors and several potions on chests because the demo doesn't have a save room (that heals characters on Igavania games) or shop. So, they gave us several free potions in order for anyone to enjoy the DEMO, see how the game is and be able to finish it. I'm pretty sure the potions availability will be way different in the finished game.
