I would like to read your ideas for fun bosses with either a combination of puzzle and straight up action or only puzzle or action. And by action, its very basic. For talk about the Boss Revenge Mode, check this thread. Here we talk about lore, ideas and such. Examples of bosses, links to them would be awesome to read and check also. My thoughts behind this thread was actually when I watched a Castlevania game and the Death boss gameplay. Thinking, that dude are in most of the games and as a sidekick of some sort. I wonder what or who Gebel's sidekick should be. I mean, if he could summon a castle from hell, perhaps a demon from hell would be a good mini-boss before him. The devil under control?

There should be a boss that summons normal enemies such as Morte, Seama, Amy, Dullahammer, etc.

All my boss ideas are for 3d games tbh.
But I'll give it a go.
Librarian.
Fought in a room with .. well, a library background with tons of books on shelves in the back all with chairs and desks for people to sit and read. With ladders to climb up the shelves.
Phase 1. The boss himself is an old hunchback that starts on a tall chair with a pedestal and a grand book in front of him.
The boss starts the battle by calling out books to fly out from the background to hit you, hit or fail, they fall on the floor ad closing. After enough book is on the ground, roughly 10 or however much is needed to be slightly packed on the ground leaving no spaces in between, no more books are called. An attack would be books separated by a space to stand in between, would open and pages flickered through for a second or 2, then pages would explode upward causes a hurricane of pages flying out and hurting the player. Pages from every 3 books, form a weapon, and will fly at the player. (think sword familiar) So aroudn 2 or 3 weapons at a time. Each weapon can be killed.
The player, during this phase, the player has to attack the pedestal and chair slowly chopping it up and causing it to lower.
Phase 2, after the chair is lowered enough, the librarian grab his book and cast spells. Spells: Magic Missile bow that shoots in a straight path to where the player is at. Teleport by going into the books on the ground and coming out of another book. Create a force field of paper and flying at the player.
During this phase, the player has to hurt the boss directly.
During both phases, books that come from the background can be destroyed to decrease the places for teleport or attacks. More books however can summoned without the boss's cast but the boss can't be attacking when books are coming out.

Okay, I'll give this a crack. I think there should be a blind, demon-salamander-like abomination that dwells down in the bowels of the castle, near its foundation, under the dungeon. It should be an amalgamation of centuries of muck and filth that have spilled down - mud, entrails, bones, blood, and excrement. Its blood is a toxic bile. Therefore, when Miriam pierces the creature, the ichor should gush from the wound in varying patterns. If it strikes Miriam, it globs onto her for several seconds, damaging her and severely slowing her movement, making it easier for the salamander to attack her. The beast will also telegraph a move where it lashes out its sticky tongue. Should Miriam fail to dodge it, she will be swallowed, which can either lead to instant death (if the devs are especially sadistic) or the loss of a significant portion of HP, say 40-50%. I think a wonderful model for this hellish creature has been provided, free of charge, by our very own Mother Nature. He just needs a little uglying up. Not that he's a looker to begin with, but more blood, guts, etc.

I kind off want Legion / Granfalloon back, or Beelzebub from SotN. I really liked how parts of an enemy keeps peeling off as you do damage.

You ought to check the "Bloodstained Enemy Discussion" thread for ideas on Bosses. That thread may be non-specific (containing ideas for both normal enemies and Bosses), but it's worth a look.

I think an obligatory vampire is a must.
I liked what Order of Ecclesia tried with Blackmore, and I think the idea could be expanded upon. A boss (vampire?) focused on shadows, but nothing could be done with light illumination in the room...
Imagine a boss who grew stronger or weaker depending on where he/she was in the room, dependant on if he/she was in the radius of a "power source" like say, the moon.
It would allow the boss room to not simply be an arena to house the boss, but playing a role more significantly in the fight, forcing you to move to different parts of the room to bait the boss, or to find a way to hinder the system granting the boss power at play.
I'd like to see something like that, where the boss room is, in a sense, a threat as much as the boss is.

That's interesting, Foffy. I like the idea of situational awareness. It always adds another dimension to a fight. Playing with your idea, I envision a dark room with some light creeping in through several torn drapes/spaces in the wall. While you fight the vampire in the dark, he/she resists more damage and recovers health. In the light, your attacks do more damage and there is no health regeneration.

Like trying to stop cogwheels in the background to halt the water to rise while trying to kill off an boss that loves water.. Cut down a tree minions to get more time (long logs) to end the boss while the walls are slowly trying to go towards you (thinking on Star Wars Junkroom scene). Or, kill off fire so no shadows are casts for the boss, or add fire? This would make shards a bit more important if elements are attached to the actual battles, and these shards should be obtained by previous bosses or areas that we need to visit before even get to that boss. Puzzle for sure!

Back when I was younger I used to draw levels for an imagined plattformer on huge sheets of paper. I had lots of cool ideas for bosses actually but one that immediately came to mind was this...
The boss is a huge cube/square with holes which can be entered by the player. Entering is however challenging as the boss has the ability to block entrances by having giant spikes coming out of them. Also there are other traps that hinder the player from entering easily and plattforming is involved in the process. Once the player manages to get inside there will be a power source to be turned off by the player by attacking it a few times. In my version this had a timer running down and the player would be kicked back out once the timer would have run out. After turning off the power source the player will be transported outside again. Now they have to enter again but this time the hole through which they first entered will be permanently blocked so they'll have to find another entry. Once that is done, another more challenging power source segment will appear, this time involving plattforming. In my version the boss had six such phases progressively getting more challenging as more entries would be permanently blocked and each power source section would get more difficult (for example, enemies would be added and the timer would get more punishing). Once the sixth power source would be turned off, the player would get out of the bosses' corpse and be allowed to continue to the next level / world.
In Bloodstained something similar could be done as well, maybe focusing more on combat instead of plattforming. Maybe it should also be toned down a bit and only have three phases.

I'd like to see something like that, where the boss room is, in a sense, a threat as much as the boss is. A splendid idea! A Boss that may become stronger or weaker depending on where it's positioned in the Room in which you fight it (affected by special conditions unique to that room). I think Bloodstained's development team really needs to consider this! At least for just one of the Bosses we'll be facing.
