Hello fellow Bloodstained - Ritual of the Night - backers,
the campaign ended and the long road towards a fully realized castle begins. Luckily it will be paved with sweet messages from the castle owners, or to be less cryptic, we will get updates from Koji Igarashi & team.
However, sometimes the messages that are brought forward and the things we expect don't align and so, maybe share with the devs what we want to here from the world of Bloodstained and how we would love that.
Here is my wishlist of what future should updates contain:
• Roadmap to a full castle: This obviously for an early update and inbetween how much you are on your road. Heck, make a sweet graphic of Miriam traveling to the Castle (full game) with stops of what stages you need to do (concept, alpha, testing, music, beta testing); give us same estimated dates along, if you can... • The Eerie side of coding: Show us some weird bugs... and maybe some bugs where so good, they actually went into the game... • An Inti Creates: Who is who and why is he on the team. Give us a small overview of this allstar team, that brings some kickstarter games to life (Mighty No. 9) or helps them out in another way (Shantae 1/2 Genie Hero)
• Who's demon is it anyway: Reveal some enemies (though only enemies that won't spoil the fun) to us. Maybe release a shadow of that demon before and do the full reveal later. This gives us time to go wild and speculate
• Who's the Boss now? Same with the enemies, give us some (early) bosses to gush over. Some of the patterns and did the Boss past the Koji Igarashi of "You create it, you gonna beat it... no life lost... no pressure !"
• If this doesn't affect production too much, maybe throw us the occasional wallpaper... There is nothing that says anticipation, like a sweet wallpaper
And here is how I would love to have the updates:
Please don't bind them to a specific date, but make it regular. Something akin to every 2nd monday of the month. This should give enough prep time, would ensure at least a certain length to the next update, sometimes it would be shorter, sometimes longer and it would ensure that it would hit on a business day.
So, since I heard that some of the persons responsible for updates hang out here, too; how do you want to have your updates? What are the contets you are looking for?
Please note, that while you could bvoice your wish, this is far from an official thread and some wishes can't be honored...
So let the Bloodstained team know, so that they can bring the updates [IWATA]directly to you[/IWATA].

Cool post, Florian! And welcome to the Bloodstained forums, too I agree with most of your suggestions, especially the bug one, that sounds fun XD For me, hmmm... Perhaps this would persnickety of me, but I personally would like to see regular budget reports. Sure, the KS got a lot of money, but as IGA said, only about half of it can actually be used (the other half is fees, etc). So just to be on the safe side I'd like him to keep us abreast of how much money we've got, how much is being spent, etc. Even vague figures would be good enough for me, though of course I don't imagine there's a high chance of this suggestion being taken. XD

That all sounds good!
I would love to hear about feature implementation. What progress has been made with jumping, crafting, spells, scoring, menus etc. Did time attack get hooked up and working? Let us know! Just an inside look at the process behind getting all the systems up and running. Depending on the content it could be a text update, concept art, video or screenshots. Whatever fits without giving any sensitive details away.

Definitely want to see what shaders they're deciding on to give the game a look.
Definitely want to see some location ideas for the castle....Maybe just names with one piece of concept art for each area with a brief description of what they're planning on doing with the area. ( i.e. ....the look or feel of it )
In-engine enemy model showcase
Animation showcase - Show us some details maybe in gif form?
Feature showcase - would love to know what exactly you can do in the game without revealing allllll the little details

Give me updates on some major bugs. Nothing too spoilery. And just update me how the game is coming along. Again nothing too spoilery.
We already have a premise, characters, setting and style I would hate updates that would spoil anything beyond this point.
Gameplay videos showing the movements and the smoothness of the animations should be top priority and can be done on sterile temporary rooms created for the purpose of showing off the programming of Miriam.
Showing off specific areas, even if it is a small section of the game, for the sake of updates would definitely kill the sense of discovery these types of games would want to get a reaction of from the player. This point doesn't just stem from areas but weapons, bosses, and dialogue.
I want updates to show me that on the eve of shipment this game will have virtually no bugs and the animations of all characters (NPC or playable) are all smooth and immersive. We already have the atmopshere, a sense of gameplay, and style. This is the reason we funded Igarashi. For these types of games with these elements. We want to be surprised and the PR portion of this development team should see fit that the surprises in this game are kept secret as much as possible.

I will want to see a BUNCH of different collectables to search for within 1600+ rooms. Diary entries explaining the history of the demons and alchemists, weapons and spellbooks hidden in secret rooms, equipment with unique mechanics and perhaps a music box to switch the music for different areas.
I'd also like to see enemy designs as they come up. There will need to be a LOT of monster types to fill up the biggest castle ever.

All the ideas suggested so far sound pretty good.
I'd like to suggest showing what items and weapons look like. Maybe show concept art or close-up of in-game models for them, followed by an animation of Miram using it.

I'd really like to see a roadmap too! Is there something like this available? I really like the updates, but they have been scarce over the past 2 months (besides the animation update, which didn't really satisfy my hunger that much) and even having something to look forward is enough.

There's a lot of conceptual talk, and I like the input we seem to be able to give as a community, but the big What and When are still really unclear to me. I'm not expecting much, seeing as march 2017 seems rather ambitious, but kind of knowing what to expect would be nice
