-Speaking of NintendOS, a wide number of utility and entertainment apps will be supported. Currently known deals are Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, Amazon Kindle, Sling TV, HBO Now, Crunchyroll, LINE, Google Maps, Comixology, Miitomo, Spotify, BBCiPlayer (UK), LoveFilm (UK), N-Sports and GrubHub. Nintendo will also announce partnerships with YouTube, Twitch and NicoNico to allow apps that will allow users to watch dedicated content as well as upload video of supported games to those services.

-The names of all the accessories are JoyCon L and JoyCon R, JoyCon Shell, JoyCon Pro, JoyCon Shoot (similar to the unused Wii U Zapper Concept), JoyCon Wheel (an advance version of the Wii Wheel Concept), JoyCon Arcade (an Arcade fight stick where the Switch Core can also plug into it Independence of the TV) and the JoyView (cheap VR helmet similar in function and low price to the Google Daydream).

-Next 3D Mario game will be at launch, currently called Super Mario Switcharoo. Two-Player Co-Op, mix of Super Mario 64 Exploring and Super Mario 3D action game play.
--The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will release first on Nintendo Switch in Q2 and will have a special bundle edition which has a special Switch Core designed like a Sheikah Slate, golden Joycons, a Limited Edition Golden Link Amiibo and Artbook. <WANT IF TRUE!!!

-Square Enix is providing HUGE support to Nintendo Switch. At launch, they are going to bring to retail Dissidia Versus: Final Fantasy, a port of the arcade game to the Nintendo Switch. They will also work with Nintendo to release a series of high quality Final Fantasy Amiibo figures throughout 2017 that will work with Dissida Versus and future Square Enix games as part of their Final Fantasy Anniversary Celebration. Dragon Quest XI: Sugisarishi Toki o Motomete will come out in Japan in the Summer and will be brought over to the USA in 2018. Holiday 2017 is the big release as they plan releasing Kingdom Hearts III to all platforms including the Nintendo Switch which will also have a special bundle. Square Enix also plans on bringing Laura Croft GO, Gunslinger Stratos SWITCH, Puzzle & Dragons Battle Tournament, A Realm Reborn and Dungeon Of Zaar to the Nintendo eShop on Switch in 2017. In 2018, Square Enix plans to release Bravely Trinity, the third game in the Bravely Series and will be the first (provided there is no collection at some point) in HD exclusive to the Nintendo Switch.

I'm just happy to hear about the mere possibility of a new Metroid game.

You do realize that Samus committed planet-cide (planet genocide) multiple times right? I'd take a melancholic ending over Samus making the Death Star petty.

I like blowing shit up, I like kicking ass and taking names but Did Rambo blow up planets? Did Mike Haggar from Fight Fight blow up his city? Do the Jedi even blow up planets?

IF Badass=Blowing up planets then why is Aether, Talon 4 and the planets in Prime 3 not space sparkles?

im curious to see if they move on from the end of the timeline or insert something into the existing one, either way metroid is one game where story light needs to be a main focus, either it needs an involved story samus can uncover in bits and pieces as she interacts with the world and you put it together, or have an involved story condensed into as few mandatory sequences as possible (like fusion does with elevator exposition) and you piece together the rest from the scenery. EITHER WAY YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO COUNT HOW MANY TIMES YOU HAVE TO HALT ALL FORWARD MOMENTUM TO BE TOLD THE STORY ON ONE HAND (elevator exposition gets a slight pass here especially if the exposition can be shortened to slightly longer than a normal elevator ride because its an effective reuse of a loading screen)
metroid and super metroid should be the base formula, open exploration, multiple ways of approaching platforming based on your skill level as a a player, lots of upgrades scattered about for the explorers

one thing i would do though is take the different 'rest' rooms (save, energy refill, ammo refill) and combine them into a single room but have them be separate stations as well as have a hard mode that disables these extra stations, that way there is an option for learning the game and practicing high end speedrun in a particular spot with x resources, and a high end gameplay mode that refuses to hold your hand

I could easily picture the Metroid writers really regretting the plot of Metroid II. Every game set after that one in the timeline needs to find some convoluted reason to have the titular creatures in them after the race was largely exterminated in the second game. I think that both Super Metroid and Metroid Fusion used the exact same 'cloning' explanation. (Barely played Other M, so I dunno what's going on there, but I do know that a Queen Metroid is in the game.)

Though Metroid Prime: Hunters didn't have Metroids in it outside of the demo, so it's certainly possible to have Metroid without Metroids.

Personally, I wanted AM2R to officially be a thing (and still do).

Without it becoming a "reboot", I'm just hoping that this new Metroid game in the works is a "Metroid II" of sorts, at least in spirit (since it will be on the Switch; a partially portable system).

I'd definitely want to do more than just find and exterminate Metroids, though.

By that logic (Only the biggest explosions possible is valid) then WHY did Talon 4 not go boom at the end of Prime 1 despite that we, as fans, put that game on a very high pedestal?
