...regardless, what nya says is true, you make a master copy of the game first for x platform (usually pc unless youre building a console exclusive that later has a pc port), and then your engine has plugins that tailor that master copy to run on each platform, and then a good dev (or at least one not on a crazy holiday release deadline) goes through and optimizes each build to run better and take care of any bugs or errors that occur in translation, before this was a much bigger undertaking due to heavily customized engines or straight up custom engines like FOX or the one FF15 uses, but with engines like ue4 and unity getting more robust and having more tools added to their kit porting will slowly become much less of a hassle Yeah, I get it, and I'm understanding about it overall. I'm just saying the "surprise" comes from that unlike Bloodstained, the Wii U was the top priority port here, handled internally and spoken of the most publicly, while the PS4 and XBox One ports were secondary by external devs; yet it's the secondary ports that will be released and not the primary one that many people had signed on for. It doesn't change where things are now, and I know Nintendo platforms have traditionally been difficult to port to, but I'm just explaining why it's surprising. They seemingly knew going in they were porting it to the Wii U as a first priority, and sort of appeared to sell it on that premise, but then apparently determined it couldn't be done just a few months from launch. Regardless of Bloodstained's situation, Yooka-Laylee not being on Wii U wasn't something that ever seemed "inevitable." But I digress.

Devs not delivering one of the initial goals is a pretty darn asshole move. If they don't go about it carefully, I wouldn't be surprised by a lawsuit popping up.

Devs not delivering one of the initial goals is a pretty darn asshole move. If they don't go about it carefully, I wouldn't be surprised by a lawsuit popping up. No one is going to sue anyone over this, Jesus Christ! Countless other Kickstarters have underdelivered or canceled promised stuff before and not one has been sued. I haven't checked but I can assure you the platform shields itself with disclaimers up the ass when you sign up to the website. If successfully suing Creators was that easy it would've happened already. I'm sure Iga will go about the inevitable cancellation of the WiiU version carefully but this is not grounds for any sort of lawsuit. Get real! I've said this before: if you were still gaming exclusively on a WiiU in December of 2016 and were savvy enough as to Kickstart a spiritual successor to a niche game like SotN chances are you're either a hardcore Nintendo fan (meaning you probably are going to get the Switch eventually anyway) or an overall hardcore gamer (thus you'll manage to get something to play Bloodstained on). This game isnt coming out until 2018. Are there seriously many people who are going to keep chugging along as a WiiU exclusive gamer by then? If you Kickstarted this game you're not a casual. By then you would've upgraded your computer, jumped to another current gen console, or bought a Switch. For the betterment of Bloodstained and the future of a potential prolific franchise I truly hope Iga does the right thing and cancels the WiiU version. Let's not forget that the Switch does support the UE4 which already means that that port would be easier, faster, and cheaper than whatever hoops Armature would've had to jump just to make UE4 run on WiiU, let alone downgrade the game to be playable on one.

I can sympathize, but people in that situation are by far the minority. No decisions have been made yet. He's not a backer though, and if the point is that the decision would affect Wii U sales vs Switch sales, there's no comparison. The sales would be much higher on Switch. The needs of the many outweigh the few. Yup. A train goes wildly outta control, and could potentially kill a lot of people by going off of a cliff. Let them all die, or push a fat man in the way of the train to essentially stop the train and save all of the passengers. We all know that the Wii U's hopes and dreams are coming to an end. ...just like the fat man.

Someone in the KS comments asked how to change his platform choice from PS4 to Switch ;p
haha it's already gone that far. Don't think he will be the last.

Bloodstained looks beautiful, but its not, say, Witcher 3 levels of graphical powerhouse with a giant world. Pretty sure the Switch will work with Unreal 4 so it should be gravy.

I honestly never even expected the Switch to be as powerful as a PS4 considering it's pretty much a portable device. I'm sure the Switch version will be fine. I'm planning on changing my Wii U version of Yooka-Laylee to it anyways so I think Bloodstained should offer the same incentive Playtonic is.
I backed both of these games with the original intention of playing them on Wii U and now? I don't even want them on the system anymore and really appreciate a "switch"

The technical specifications of the console shouldn't cause any issues. In YL's case, the game is(was) designed to be playable on the Wii U, meaning they were mindful of its hardware limitations when creating assets and stage size and BS should be in a somewhat similar situation. By extension, anything that would run on the Wii U would also run on the Switch.

That seems right, but then that raises the question of Yooka Laylee's most recent public build having trouble running smoothly with the large size of its levels on a PS4. Maybe just blame it as a work in progress.

that could be anything actually, it might be running an old optimization, bugs dragging the performance down, draw distance/lod set too high, etc
its a game in development, its inevitable some builds have performance issues and im glad they do because it allows the dev team to catch issues in production that a small team staring at it all the time arent likely to see, forest for the trees basically

[Going back to original source, it looks like it was a prank. The post was replaced with a laughing .gif, as far as I can tell. Other sources adding on about stores made it worse.] I just saw a handful of articles emerging that sources in Japan are stating that Zelda: Breath of the Wild might get cancelled for the Wii U. I find that hard to believe, but if that happens...wow. Here is an article that compiles some of these rumors: www.a90skid.com/rumour-wii-u-zelda-cancelled/ But if this ends up being true, then aside from pure principle, there really isn't a reason for latter day Wii U support. Yikes.

Because I find it a bit strange that the one you link lists a Japanese blogger that works in Gamestop where as far as I know those don't exist there.
