Ok, so before you guys yell "EQUIPMENT!" and proceed to throw rotten tomatoes at me, just hear me out. I've been doing a lot of grinding for level in the demo, and one thing that I've noticed is that the numbers are incredibly small in conjunction with leveling. What I mean is, an increase of 1 to INT literally translates to doing one extra damage.
This baffles me.
I mean I know that it's just the demo, and that there's going to be equipment abound, but I feel like that isn't going to be enough. The numbers are simply too small for how much bigger this game is going to be. That's why...I've thought about there being stat-boosting items that will permanently increase Miriam's stats. I mean it would only make sense.
Another reason why I think this is the case is because of the large number of 'Resists' located in the bottom right corner of the menu screen. Does it remind you of anything? It kinda reminds me of Shanoa's elemental potency in Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia. And what were the two main ways to increase elemental potency? Through mercilessly slaughtering your foes with whatever element you fancied...or by stat-boosting candies. I mean you found them all over the place, it's hard to play that game without finding at least one.
So what do you guys think? Are there going to be other ways of boosting stats, or is this simply a hiccup of the demo?

Surprised no one has touched this thread yet...
Chances are extremely high we will, in the least, see HP/MP max ups. As far as core stats (STR/CON/INT/MND/LCK): don't count on seeing items boost those permanently. This is not to say there may not be other methods, as you alluded to the attribute system in Ecclesia. In my opinion, Miriams current level 99 stats (minus her LCK, is easily below average) as we know them, seem par for the course in comparison to past IGA games. Concerning Miriams current LCK value, unless it's buffed in the final release, item/shard hunting is going to suck.
Edit for clarity of my statements above: I am not at all opposed to seeing stat boosters, quite frankly I want them. As far as what I meant above, I am specifically talking about permanent stat increases to Miriams base state, independent of equipping items/shards. Historically speaking, none of IGAs past Metroidvanias saw any form of item that permanently boosts your character base stats (not counting HP/MP/Heart max ups). This is not to say it couldn't happen in Bloodstained.

I believe that there will be permanent stat boosting items for some of the stats. Not all of them since I think there will be permanent shards that you don't have to equip that you get by defeating bosses or some part of the story says the curse is spreading so Miriam gets stronger at the cost of her sanity / humanity by absorbing the shards/curse from the bosses/enemies.
We have already seen the CON increase shard in this demo, and I don't think they would show us late game enemies or shards in the demo. So that shard would maybe be considered very weak compared to what we will get later in the game.
There is also the matter of the stars next to the quality. So we can again assume that either shards get stronger as you get more of them, or that shards from different enemies has a different quality ranking to show how powerful they are. ( I can't remember if we have a confirmation on what the quality stars mean)
So we get the guaranteed stat increases from equipment and shards, the shards may get power increases according to how many you get of the same kind, and we will most likely get item boosts as well. So having Miriam's base stats low makes a lot of sense. It will also encourage exploring as well as farming and grinding a lot of enemies. I don't really know what IGA is considering but we won't really know until the beta unless IGA says otherwise.

I think all of the stats will have a booster, with the exception of LCK, but that's just because luck has always been slightly different than the rest of the stats. I also noticed that the shards have LV's as well, so I'm sure it'll function similarilly to DoS. And of course, as A Man in Flames stated the usual HP and MP buffers will likely be present in the final rendition of Bloodstained, as well.

Yeah, we can expect that HP and MP ups will be scattered through out the castle. I would love if there was a big permanent luck increase, maybe after the final boss, given a by a superboss just to help farming enemy drops and shards, because it was tiresome in Aria and it became isanely time consuming in Dawn when you had to collect 9 souls for certain enemies.

Hmm, that definitely would be a new thing. For the most part, in the latest of IGA's work, LCK seems to only be able to be increased by equipment, or by the equipping of a relevant soul, in Aria and Dawn. (Ghost Dancer IE) And one thing that irritated me in Dawn of Sorrow, is unlike Circle of the Moon's DSS card drops, which rely on luck, the ONLY way to increase the rate of getting souls was by equipping the Soul Eater Ring, which costed 300,000 gold. (Unless equipped with Tsuchinoko, which lowered the price to 240,00 gold, but that's still A LOT LOL) And also unfortunately, since IGA considers Dawn and Aria some of his best work, it's likely that this mechanic will be brought back as well. So I'm pondering how much LCK is going to affect gameplay, as it probably won't affect Shard drops that much, if at all. Granted, I hope Alchemy is going to be a big part of the game, but still.

There should also be permanent stat-boosting items and temporary stat-boosting items.

There should also be permanent stat-boosting items and temporary stat-boosting items. You mean like the "HP Max-Up" ("Life Vessels" in SotN) and "MP Max-Up" items in Circle of the Moon, Portrait of Ruin, and Order of Ecclesia? Perhaps the "Attack-Up" and "Defense-Up" items in Lament of Innocence and the "Crests" in Curse of Darkness?
