I know the game is a ways away... but I want to know, will this game have the same trouble with credits that mighty no. 9 did?... 4 hrs. worth of credits, I hope not. is there a way to shorten them or make them fun?
Well I know we should at least not use the "a generous backer" place marker...
here are some thoughts I had... what if the backers part of the credits were playable? maybe a tower to unlock at the end of the game where we can read grave stones or something that has our names on it?...maybe we could even "claim" our names and when we get to our name, it will glow or something.
Ok, I know that was weak, but really how is bloodstained gonna avoid the pitfall of hours of boring credits...
Oh and this is all speculation, just so you know.

I would suspect either a way to scrub through or just straight up skip it. I honestly can't think of a practical way to credit so many people.

I doubt Bloodstained's credits will be quite so plagued with anonymous backers. MN9's credits are 70% anonymous because of how quickly the game became a disaster that most backers no longer wanted to even be reminded about. (Source: Me, a generous backer.) There is basically no chance that will happen with Bloodstained. It would take a catastrophic mismanagement at this point.
And as for the length, yeah, I suspect you'll be allowed to scroll through it at leisure. I'd even be willing to go so far as to guess that the music will take longer than 7.5 seconds to loop. (You know the composer had basically thrown their arms up in dismay at that point.)

A super secret end credits boss that is essentially just Legion with all the backers stuck to it. As you slay each backer, their name will quickly scroll across the screen informing you of who you murdered in cold blood. Kill all the backers to reveal IGACULA sitting in midair holding a glass of wine. Defeat him to get the super special secret weapon. The credits end if you die at any point.
I may or may not be serious about this.

I'd like for there to be an interactive minicastle where you kill seama or morte with the names of the backers; may be a bit ambitious, but making it interactive would be fun. Basically Arcueid Brunestud 's suggestion except instead of a boss, it's a dungeon.

I'm kinda digging the interactive ideas, giving it a second thought one of my favorite credits was super smash bros melee with the mini starfox level. Obviously that's not going to work here but that legion idea sounds pretty cool.

Actually I like both of your ideas... ok, what if we have a tower where Iga and his dev team welcome you to the "archive tower" and the player can interact with them (a la chrono trigger) and after talking to all of them, they open the door to the tower... every enemy in this tower will be a name that flies into the air and slowly falls (like credits) then when they reach the "boss" every attack will make the boss spit out more names... and I think every boss should be clan themed, first the "community clans" being the first stage. - Dungeon clan
- Operation Akumajo clan
than "You tube partner clans"
then the "sword or whip clans"
- Clan Bullwhip (Boss weapon - Bullwhip)
- Clan Broadsword (boss weapon - Broadsword)
- Clan Cat-o-Nine Tails (Boss weapon - ok by now you should know where I am going with this)
- Clan Rapier
- Clan Iron Flail
- Clan Katana
And then the player can get an "I read all the credits" achievement... and maybe an item you can only get if you play the whole tower... or each and ever name could appear in an all new archive, where players can read those names anytime they want... so people can say "see that name, that's me" then their friends will be like "your name is not Yoshiko2039 (this is a random name i made up so sorry if it actually is someone's name)" and then the backer will be like "but it is me" and then no one will believe them ever...
Wait where was I going... I think I kinda got sidetracked... but everything should still be sound, right?

Undertale had its bullet hell mechanics used in the credits and all the backers' names would be the bullets to avoid. Maybe we could have something similar? For example we always get the names of monsters in the corner. How about a gigantic horde of low-tier monsters to fight but instead of their name we get the name of the backer in the corner? The monster-types could depend on credit clans. For a more traditional setup of credits we could have them sorted into folders which would be the credit-clans and people could interactively scroll through the lists within those credit clans to read their names. Overall I'm hoping for a longer music loop than mighty no. 9 had 'cause that got tiring very quickly. I think it's kind of silly to include anonymous backers as nobody could identify them anyway and it just senselessly makes the credits longer.

I figured the best way to do it would be to have the staff credits when players beat the game and a second "backer credits" that can be accessed from the options menu. But I'm open to some sort of interactive credits option if it was done well.

Considering that one of the rewards for backing past a certain tier was having a name of your choice being shown in the credits, not doing so and just giving a single sentence for all backers in the credits would be quite devastating, and yet funny. Anyways, I'm pretty sure you can opt out of being in the credits.

It's an optional backer incentive, and everyone can choose what their name displays as, so there's not as much risk.
With these creative mini-games, they're really cool, but there will be a lot of people that actually just want their name in actual credits. That is what was advertised, after all, so I think any kind of game form would have to be additional rather than a replacement.
We won't have to worry about the 4-hour credits issue. At worst, I think it'd be something close to an hour, probably less if they come up with something clever to display them. I don't think this has been pointed out yet - everyone that backed MN9 AT ALL, even $5, was in the backer credits. That was something I think probably over 75,000 people, whereas Bloodstained will be only whoever backed at $100 or greater, which I would estimate is...(adding up stuff here...) around 22,000. I'd say a good bit less than a third.

I actually like this, nice and simple ...now I feel silly coming up with all the gimmicks lol I still think those gimmicks would be cool, but the point of this thread was to simplify the credits system.

Okay, how bout this: Much like the "Boss Rush" mode, a "Credits Rush" mode where you run down a nearly endless corridor while backer names fly at you at high speed and you can try to strike them down. There could even be an achievement for striking down a certain number. More seriously, I would definitely like the ability to fast forward and book spots in the credits, so I don't have to sit through an hour of names just to show my friends, "Hey look, there's me!" Also, hopefully they won't do the placeholder "A Generous Backer" like MN9. There won't be much reason to, as MN9 specifically wanted to number and thank every single backer so they wanted the entire list in the credits, whereas bloodstained is NOT doing that. purifyweirdshard I'm assuming your quick count is from adding up pledges on the kickstarters page, but don't forget there were something like 2,400+ paypal backers by the end of the campaign alone, not to mention anyone who may have pledged since or upped their pledged once the survey came out, so by now the actual number I would say could be anywhere from around 24 to 30 thousand people at the 100+ tiers. Obviously still not nearly as high as the MN9 numbers but still a sizable chunk of credits.

I like that, there should be a rewind button too just in case you accidentally skip your name lol... but again I still think there should be an archive (after you beat the game) that has all the names of the backers in it just so one could look up their name when ever they want.

Ramzo Wily, I accounted for PayPal and igavania.com/back contributors by adding an extra 5k or something, iirc. Of course, I wouldn't think a majority of PayPal/slacker backers gave over $100, but good on them if they did.

Roughly 65,000 people backed the game, and right off the bat a little over 20,000 of those backers were for the $28 "send me a code on release" tier and another 22,000-ish pledged between the two $60 tiers. So only a rough 30% of the game's backers even pledged high enough to appear in the credits at all.
Now 25,000 (very rough) is still a LOT of names. I'd be willing to bet the game's Credits will be IGA and the actual Inti-Staff and there will be a separate "backer Credits" that can be accessed via the main menu as others have said. Divinity Original Sin has such an option.
