What excites you guys most about bloodstained? but I want to set some rules: - No answers like "Iga is working on it" or something to that effect. We all know Iga is awesome.
- Only official stuff (no "I wish" or "it would be cool if...") stick with what we know is coming. (you can add an I wish to the end of something official though)
The things that most excite me is the Crafting aspect of the game... I can't wait to see all the things I can make

The sheer variety of modes! The main castle with exploratory and RPG elements, AND three fully fleshed-out playable characters to go through it. The classic linear mode, boss rush, offline and online co-op, randomly generated dungeons, and PLAYABLE BOSSES.
The replay value on this game is gonna be HUGE.

The boss revenge mode intrigues me. It has so much potential. This is the only official part of my post, everything else is potential speculation/wishes of this mode. I wonder if these special Hero bosses drop special goods that transfer to your main character, or also become playable in boss revenge mode. Maybe every boss becomes available after you beat them from all different modes (including IGA). I do like the idea for this post, but it mah be better served after a few more development updates. Also I created a thread already that can help anyone out on this thread if they happened to miss some features bloodstained.freeforums.net/thread/41/bloodstained-confirmed-game-features

Iga's Biggest castle Yet!
Exploration is always awesome in this genre, and if it is going to be bigger than SotN? *Drool!*

A modern Igavania game, with awesome HD graphics, and original story. The protagonist is female, and will most likely have a Super-Powered Evil Side thanks to her Magi-Crystal Curse(think Claymore's yoma powerup).

I'm excited for the 3 playable characters and boss revenge mode. God damn, that sounds awesome. I'm sure I'll love Miriam, but the other 2 playable characters add some nice re-playability for me.

Pretty much everything I like about castlevania. The music, the art style, the exploration of a gothic castle... When I first heard about bloodstained I really had a skeptical view, but when I saw Yamane listed as the very first staff member in the project, I knew this was the castlevania game I've been waiting for.
So basically, what is it that I like in a castlevania game that I'm looking forward to? 1: Gothic castle! and a really nicely furnished one too, with ornate sculptures, rugs, walls, windows, stained glass windows, etc. 2: the music of course 3: the whole 'explore whever you like in whatever order you like (provided you can access it)' in the giant castle (I know this isn't representative of all castlevania games but it is for the ones I like most)
Non castlevania, but bloodstained specific things I look forward to: 1: Probably even MORE stained glass windows lol 2: biggest castle ever, yay. 3: Miriam is cute. But not in SUPER KAWAII DESU DESU way, in a modest classy way IMO. Shanoa just didn't do it for me. I mean I didn't hate her design, but it was pretty meh for me. Miriam looks better IMO...Though I really dislike that circlet thing. Not sure I'm big on the gradient hair either. 4: nightmare difficulty mode. squeee. SoTN is a great castlevania game, but its biggest flaw is it's dirt easy. Even if you opt not to use the crisingram or whatever it's called. still dirt easy. 5: Roguelike mode?! zomgwdfbbq! 6: will be playable on my pc and portables. I like playing thsese kinds of games on my consoles most generally, but hopefully the pc version will allow people to make mods in the future, and modding a good castlevania game? EEEEK
There are more but those are the big ones. Other playable characters are nice, but I generally have a hard time enjoying secondary characters as much as the primary in games where you can only control one character (in games where you have a party however, I frequently like the main character average at best lol). Boss nightmare mode sounds unique but I have a feeling it will be a short lived gimmick at best.
I hope this game allows for useful armor crafting as well as weapons. Far far too many games with crafting systems makes it so weapons are just so much more important to craft than armor. Normally because weapons have much higher multipliers and you can get a far better bang for your buck on them.

I know, right? In my first blind run, where I explored everywhere I could but didn't grind at all, I reached level 49, equipped the Walking armor, and Dracula could barely scratch me.

I still think the ability to turn off you earned exp would fix this problem You could always play it while limiting yourself to make it harder. Ie no familiars, starter weapons and armor, or even no armor at weapons. I bet a "naked" run would be pretty hard.

I don't want it to be hard (for hard sake) and limiting my game just cause the Lv mechanic is unbalanced is sad to me. I like the whole find armor/items/weapons/etc what's the point in finding that stuff if I have to limit myself? I just want a better lv mechanic or a way around it.

yeah self-limitations are a solution, but not a very good one. Games ideally should be able to provide the player with a challenge even if they are using everything they have at their disposal, with easy/normal difficulty settings for people who do not enjoy the challenge.
Just the fact that this game has multiple difficulty settings has me pretty excited about the whole thing though. And if the PC version is moddable, people will no doubt make mods that will alter leveling mecahnics, enemy strength, enemy numbers, etc.

I think it's wrong to assume this game will be as easy as SOTN, considering the latest Igavania game was Order of Ecclesia, and that was fairly difficut.

I hope mods are possible. That will extend the life of the game sooooo much. I was hoping it would be the 5.5 mil stretch goal. We need more modes!

I still think the ability to turn off you earned exp would fix this problem I know Order of Ecclesia had level cap modes, one of which was you capped at level 1... but that might be a bit extreme for some people. I like your idea, and I think it could even be added to: Have an option to turn exp gain on or off at any time, with loot rewarded at the end based on how low you were when you cleared the game. For example: Lvl 100 (max level): Joke weapon A. Level 75-99: Weapon A, armor A, joke weapon A. Level 50-74: Spell A, weapon A, armor A, joke weapon A. Level 25-49: Familiar A, spell A, weapon A, armor A, joke weapon A. Level 2-24: Weapon B, armor B, familiar A, spell A, weapon A, armor A, joke weapon A. Level 1: Familiar B, joke weapon B, weapon B, armor B, familiar A, spell A, weapon A, armor A, joke weapon A. Maybe less items than that, but with the whole "earn things from your tier and all previous tiers for completing this challenge" mechanic intact.

DragonByDegrees that sounds so cool XD but lv1 is not very feasible (unless the whole turn off the exp is a thing) but I think it would be nearly impossible

Maybe levels won't mean as much as the equipment you wear? In that case, I can see low level runs being a thing.

DragonByDegrees that sounds so cool XD but lv1 is not very feasible (unless the whole turn off the exp is a thing) but I think it would be nearly impossible It would certainly be hard as a player, but you could put in workarounds as a developer. We're probably going to have stat-boosting items in-game that have variable stats based on time played, money held, enemies killed, etc. along with items that allow you to use HP instead of MP and possibly to take fixed % dmg when hit instead of taking damage as normally calculated. They could also include an item or spell that makes you take MP dmg instead of HP dmg until your MP is depleted (or more realistically, set it up so any overflowing dmg goes to HP, so you can't set up a quick MP regen build to become immortal). You could "gate" these (hopefully rare) items and/or spells by putting some in early game, some later, and some near the end, so that even a player in the know with a drop list and guide handy won't be able to get allllllll of them near the start and just cheese through the game. You want it to be hard, but also rewarding (hence the exclusive drops). However, you don't want it to be too hard, or players will be discouraged (especially those who really, REALLY want those exclusive drops).
