As I said, they felt a bit too cheesy for me, that doesn't mean I will not enjoy the game if they don't change that. I don't think the opinion needed a secondary thread but here we are. I didn't like the color scheme either and nobody felt that was so terrible.

Reading your comments about them being a weak point (I didn't see much change but then again I was bussy hitting it xD) maybe they should flash in a different color when they're hit? Overall, I think the whole design needs a bit more of work, maybe textures, I don't know for certain.

I am O.K with nudity, Just keep it tasteful.

Nudity done well that did not detract from the gameplay from past Igavanias were the succubus and lilith enemies from AoS and the DS titles as well as the succubus villain from SotN.

I particularly liked Bayonetta for being overly sexualized but since the game has such great sass the nudity enhances the game. And this game should strive for that same level of maturity. Catherine is also another game that depicts sensual acts/scenes that enhanced the overall package.

Nudity should be used to enhance the atmosphere and setting of the game and not feel like some tacked on design choice to make the game "edgy". If these monsters are depicted in myths and stories with sexualized parts jutting out make sure the tone of the character model conveys danger whether in confrontation, characterization, or environmental interaction. And the designers should have great foresight and a good understanding of their project to avoid tackiness.

Don't let me down Iga.

PS that sexy death moan made by the Succubus in SotN hahaha. Good memories.

I agree with everything you said here. I love Succubus and Liliths from the previous Igavanias and Bayonetta is a personal favorite of mine. Sensuality, sexuality and nudity has never been a problem, that's part of my job, honestly. Vepar just feel a bit more cheesy than terrifying to me.

As i said on the demo feedback thread i believe that the boss is intended to appear pregnant or at least depict images of pregnancy, the belly is distended and lets not forget we see Seama being birthed from the belly section of the boss. In my view its not sexualised (if anything its more disturbing than titillating), its possibly a snapshot of themes hidden throughout the story. Creative freedom is a wonderful thing. Her attack patterns need to be more aggressive though and maybe add another water beam attack when she lowers herself at the front of the ship maybe add some more tentacle slaps or something. I'm hoping her attack patterns were "Boss Lite" for E3 demonstration and her actual attack pattern will be more of a challenge in the final release.

Like I just said in that thread, the Japanese-ness of these games is what directly contributes to their success. Look at what happened when they got "westernized". A large, and I mean HUGE portion of the original audience got alienated. We the non-Japanese people who love those games love them because of their unique style that couldn't be imitated by anyone else. This includes odd character design choices. This includes weird, even off-putting monster design choices like this one. And that's what I have to say about this topic.

I'm seeing a bunch of arguments for developers being able to do what they want. I think it's funny how it's the complete opposite of what we want for politicians. We elect leaders who follow what the people want (or at least try to), yet some of us want the developer to not care what many fans think? Perhaps what we need for this topic is a poll.

Personally, I think the gargantuan breasts are too silly and comedic to fit into this game's atmosphere. It's not about it being oversexualized or offensive; it's about the darker setting you'd normally expect in a game like this.

Yeah, and on top of all that, it's actually a male. It's hard to try an apples to apples due to some of these points.

It being a male demon taking a form of its choosing, I imagine its grotesque and ridiculous appearance is meant to either disturb or get under the skin of the viewer and in this case by extension, the player. Mission accomplished, I'd say?

Oh, geez, pregnant? That is a scary thought! I can imagine the chest actually being where twins grow and eventually birth themselves...

My main point is that it's too silly. It's very unrealistic; it reminds me of typical ecchi anime with an oversized bust on some of the girls. Most women never reach that kind of size without being overweight themselves or having enlargement surgery. Sure, being a sea creature may exempt it from realism, but it's still humanoid.

It's odd, and it doesn't fit the game much at all. If the developers were going for creepy sexualization, there are much better ways to go about it, like the Nurses and Mannequins from the Silent Hill series, or nearly any incarnation of Mitochondria Eve from Parasite Eve.
