I bought and played Shantae and the Pirate's Curse and enjoyed it a lot on the 3DS, but sadly I missed this game and found out about when I finally watched the whole Bloodstained live stream on youtube a few months back. I don't have money to throw around these days anyway but if it's coming on PS4 and Vita I'll buy it eventually.

I prefer the art style in Pirate's Curse much more than Half-Genie Hero, which I believe Inti Creates lend their hand to WayForward on graphic part according to the staff roll.
Anyway definitely would buy a copy once it's out.

I donated to the kickstarter and have been excited for it ever since.
I actually got talked down to because I would try to push for Shantae back when MN9's kickstarter was still going. I even got told Wayforward was trying to cheat people out of their money because they were gonna cover porting costs.
you can imagine my smugness and schadenfreude after the most recent events though.

Good to hear since physical is always to me the best version to get because servers don't last forever. Will get it on PS4 for sure, I enjoyed pirates curse which I got in a humble bundle with the first shantae on steam.

I'm a backer for this game! I like to hope that I got a bunch of people to back (or at least spread the news about the game) because I put an animation that Wayforward gave out on my DeviantArt page and it became a huge hit. At 15.4K views and over 300 favorites as of today, it is the most popular piece on my DA page. I guess I don't really deserve it since I didn't make the animation myself (I just use a GIF maker) but no one has flagged it and I figured it was okay because Wayforward said to spread the animation around the internet.
Anyway, I hope to have a Wii U by the time this game comes out, otherwise my code will go to waste.

I've played the older games, but I missed backing the Kickstarter campaign for Half-Genie Hero. Curses!

But I do hope that Nintendo keeps its line of backwards compatibile systems going. Once we hear more about what the NX is, I can make a final decision.

Money I definitely know how that is that is why I usually try to make big purchases like video game consoles around tax time when I actually have money to spare. I survived community college juggling a job at burger king and using all the government aid I could get so I know how rough that can be. I did things to avoid making payments like living at my parents house, sleeping in friends dorms when I couldn't make the drive. I also learned to be a good mechanic to avoid car payments as I am still driving the 1993 Buick Century my parents gave me 11 years ago. As for NX I am also waiting to see if its worth getting one at launch or not. I am also about 80% sure they will keep backwards compatibility although it may be digital only as I heard rumors NX may be a cart based system. |

I've only played Shantae and the Pirate's Curse (which is the most recent game in the series that is out and the best one from what people say) and I really enjoyed it. Just has a lot of really solid action platforming with a strong Metroidvania base and lots of cool weapons that double as traversal abilities. I think the strongest aspect of the game is the characters and world. It's not afraid to occasionally break the fourth wall and even when things "get serious" in the narrative, the game isn't above having fun and being cheeky. I always thought the characters and world were appealing before I ever go to play a Shantae game, which is part of the reason I backed 1/2 Genie Hero without having played a game in the series, but playing Pirate's Curse reaffirmed that I had made the right choice. The fact that I became enamored with the world/characters is part of the reason I'd be hyped to see Shantae content in Bloodstained which I think is more likely than not given Inticreates relationship with the Shantae series - they are helping with 1/2 Genie Hero and helped on Pirate's Curse too - and the precedent set forth by the Shovel Armor. |
