Not sure if this has been asked but how would everyone prefer to switch characters? I'm talking things like separate save files or a hub to change them out, finding them at a fixed locations possibly. Maybe the extra characters could be made available throughout the game. Should they share things like exp, money or items if that is the case? Just curious about everyone's thoughts.

Im boring and prefer the old choose the character at the start and be stuck with them route. That way I can get a new experience with a new character every time. If you can switch mir game, it tends to be designed so that you are encouraged to use them for certain situations.

Well, back in my day switching characters on the fly wasn't really something you could do. I think it will be more of a "You pick one you stay with it." or there will be "save room" where you could switch. Although, considering we don't know who the other playable characters are or what they are capable of, that may not be the case. I don't see Zangetsu (as an example) benefiting from picking up magi-crystals so each character might have their own dynamic that makes them unique.
As for sharing things. Yeah, they'll probably share stuff if you could switch.

I'd say I prefer having different save files as well.

Yeah, they'll probably share stuff if you could switch. Castlevania 3 was switching on the fly. If you must play a certain character in a route I think having character move sets that allow for different exploration access might make plot and overall castle navigation slightly more linear, but better as an experience overall. You just limit the routes but still give choice. This can better give the designer control over the experience. Then as that character progresses they gain abilities that allow them to access anything and can go anywhere and switch characters at certain points. Does that sound interesting?

Heh, as "on the fly" as hitting select and waiting about 10 seconds was, yeah. (note: CV3 may be my favorite game)
I had just assumed that this would be a standard IGA game where you have one choice at the start, the main protagonist, and other characters are available as unlocks later for separate New Game files.
However, in our Classic Mode thread where we discussed similar ideas, I think that will involve having the 3+ characters on a select screen or CV3/Julius Mode style switching. Either way would be cool.
I'd like to say that it would be really cool if drops and power-ups changed depending on who the PC was at the time, again as with Castlevania 3, where Sypha gets spell books instead of whip symbols or subweapons for example. It always felt a little off how Richter could get money in SotN, it did absolutely nothing for him.

Character swapping is something you can do with success - Portrait of Ruin and Julius Mode of Dawn of Sorrow did it with great success. However its something you have to set up narratively and it requires you to heavily distinguish your characters. Nothing about what we know about the narrative of this game has been set up suggests the normal mode of this game will have character swapping. Given the strong appeals to SOTN that this game and campaign gives/gave I don't expect that to be the direction IGA will take this game. I'd be super down for it for like a Bloodstained 2 though.

I'd prefer switching characters on the fly (similar to DoS) so I can explore as many areas as possible at any time, especially if all the characters have different abilities. I like having that freedom and convienence.
I'm not a fan of reaching a hub to switch characters. It feels like time-wasting backtracking, especially if all I want to do is just check out one small area or minor detail. I liked it in Super Mario Bros 2 where you could select a different character after each level. I did not like it in games like Donkey Kong 64 where I found myself thinking "Why do I need to switch Kongs or split up in order to access these character barrels, ability pads, and areas? Why can't I just play as one character who can access everything?", and that annoyance left a big impression in my mind.
As for choosing one character for the entire game playthrough/save file, I'd be okay with that if all the characters can access every area on the map and felt different, similar to playing as Julius in the Sorrow games or Richter from SOTN.

Thats a point. Im assuming each character can eventually reach every area.i wouldnt like it much if each xoule only access 2/3 of the game.
