Is the only reason this game isnt being deved for PS3 and 360 is because those consoles are old now and thus wouldnt be very profitable? I mean does it actually REQUIRE an Xbox One to PS4 to run? I dont really care as I have a PS4, but Id find it funny if a 360 and PS3 couldnt handle the "vast amount of processing power and graphical fidelity" 2d/3d platformer would require. If the PS3 can run a game that looks like the Last of Us, Uncharted 3 and FF13 surely Id think it could handle this. Would my assumption be correct?

I don't know much about SKUs, but I know additional published copies cost a lot. It's probably not cost effective to add more SKUs to the release of the game.

I feel like Ps4/Xboxone/pc are in the same arena, then you got PSVITA and the WiiU in a similar arena, and a 360 and PS3 would be in its own arena. Seems like a bit too much work for three sets of different capabilities. I want the most out of each set, don't wanna cross platform between PS3/PS4

We're already looking at 5 versions at launch, which seems like a lot to me as it is...and it always makes me nervous when a game tries to be -that- multiplatform. We do thankfully have Armature doing the Wii U/Vita ports.
I can't speak strictly from a tech standpoint, but I do know that Guilty Gear Xrd uses Unreal 3 and has to take a few dips quality wise to work on the PS3. Bloodstained is using Unreal 4. This may not be an issue, but I could see it...
We're also looking at a game that will be coming out some time at least well into 2017. I do think the PS3 will still be around then, but sales and marketing by that time will be certainly further down than they are now.
Don't get me wrong, I still feel like I prefer the PS3's experience overall. I like the controller better, the simplicity of the UI and how it still feels more like a "game" system than some kind of social, always-connected platform that everything is trying to be. I do however want what's best for Bloodstained though...

I think I see what you're saying, and I think the game should be able to run just as fine on either the PS3 or XBox360 too. Especially if either can have the game made at least in Unreal Engine 3.
But if there was a PS3 SKU release, I'd imagine it selling well in Japan and selling mediocre amounts everywhere else, something that Iga and co. will not accept. I don't follow XBox360 as closely, but I'd think it would do similarly at best there too.

I believe it would require too much extra work to make another port, also i believe it would require intense game adaptation because of certain limitations (remember we are using state-of-art engine, Unreal Engine 4), specially the RAM limitation of PS3/X360 since they use only 512 RAM of the whole system which means there is only like half (256 MB) for games compared to 512 MB dedicated RAM on PSvita. Of course there is the CPU/GPU set as well that may lack the power and/or needed instructions for that.
Even if these system are able to run it, it may require a lot of tweaks and downgrades. I believe a much more interesting future port would be for the Nintendo NX, but only after at least one year after the console launch so they can understand how it works and what it is capable of, and of course to watch the console reception around the world. A NX port would be great for the Bloodstained sales, after Bloodstained proved to be successful on the market on 2017 release it is just natural to port it to the current gen consoles (NX) from 2018 onwards.

well, word of rein is that the engine just isnt built to run on that hardware since they already have ue3 doing that job, plus itd be like loading windows 8 onto a machine built for windows xp, it might run but itll require a lot of work to make it look good and run smoothly, which is why armature is tasked with the vita and wiiu ports to keep that huge project from interfering with the main team, and releasing the source code for their ue4 compiler when theyre done

PS3 and XBOX360 are old console. Probably they didn't make PS3 and XBOX360 versions to push PS4 and XOne sales.

PS3 isn't a supported platform for Unreal Engine 4, so it would be a ton of work to port, if it were possible at all. The Vita and the Wii U aren't supported either, but that's why a completely different company is being contracted for those ports.

It could be made to work on last gen platforms if they really wanted to make it work given PSVita and Wii U don't naturally support unreal 4 either and Armature is "making it work" with some backyard engineering. However I think the reason they didn't decide to support them was because the game is scheduled to be released in 2017 and those consoles are already long past their expiration dates. Most people who owned those platforms have upgraded by now, or at least will upgrade by the time it launches which makes those releases kind of redundant. A PSvita version has portability and it will no doubt sell well in Japan given how much they love their portables. As for Wii U it still has a small army of Nintendo loyalists who tend to eat up games of this nature so I would expect that to be somewhat profitable as well.

There's no way that's the issue am pretty sure it's simply because of their processors and how those systems are. The PS4 and Xbox1 are made of parts that are in PCs so they're like PCs themselves. PS3 and Xbox360 are much different technologies especially the PS3 it isn't something easy to program for. This is why the Wii U and PS Vita were stretch goals, they can also run the game but it's going to require to port the game specifically for those systems. It's a pain to cling to those consoles after so long anyway that's why the new stuff took priority. Also by the time Bloodstained gets released it would be ridiculous to come out on those systems as a new game on 2017 or later, released on PS3 and Xbox360. The only "recent" console that wouldn't be able to run that game is the 3DS, but damn am so glad it will be on PS Vita. It'll be great to experience it on the big HD TV and on a small portable system.

I know you're asking because you don't want to buy a new console. However, the PS4 has been out nearly 3 years at this point with an upgraded version on its way. That's half the life of your typical Nintendo console. New hardware comes in, and it makes no monetary sense to keep developing for the old. I would understand if Bloodstained was targeted to release right near the end of the PS3 era, however we'll be half way into the current generation before it's done.

I would prefer to have BloodStained as a dual launch title for the Wii U and NX. This is probably just me. The whole point of the KickStarter was to prove there was still a market and that it would be successful. Why not go for the 2 for 1 combo.
