Crazy topic.
Ill just say that when I saw the newest pic I immediately felt like Miriam looked more mature. By that I mean she looked less like an innocent 16 year old girl and more like an adult woman. There's often a fine line with females in modern Japanese art between adolescents and adults, and that cutesy, pouty, innocent thing isnt something I loved about the initial concept art. But in the new pic she's looking much more mature, in that sense.
I don't know if her bust size is a factor, but if it's part of the package then keep it. I've said it before but I hope Miriam ends up being way more like Shanoa than like Charlotte or something. Shanoa had none of the cutesy innocence and was all baddass.

Yeah going off topic a little bit about her crystal curse, I wouldn't mind if it did look a bit more like it was actually made of glass or crystal. It's not something I'm willing to make a big fuss over, I'd just as soon accept a tattoo looking version, but if I were to give my preference it would be the one that represents the namesake.
Also, Atlus, and many other series, have shown that things such as Paganism don't seem to impact religious communities out there all that much. I think the biggest impact any game had over a religious community was Pokemon and Christianity, which was overturned by the actual Pope at the time, as well as Doom and Germany which isn't tied as closely to religion, but specifically with Judaism.

im sure therell be a glass/bumpmap test eventually for the tattoo, i have the feeling they havent gotten to that part of the shader/textures is why it looks painted on, along with her tiara crystals being plasticy and the lack of any glassy textures in the test room, so give it time ^_^

At least we aren't getting flack due to the game being centered around demonology and having Westborough Baptist Church nuts here. Shush! Quite you. Lest you speak of the devil and they appear. They haz the minionz evrywarez..... j/k Truly though, that'd be all we'd need is demonstrations from *that group* outside of video game stores.

Hey that would just be free press, but I wouldn't want to have to deal with them in the forums.
You know what sucks is that in the next podcast I say something about how we haven't had to enforce rules in a long time and then this thread happened about a day after I recorded it. I'm not going to edit that part out before I release, but we can all have a good chuckle when we hear that line.
I'm very happy to see that everyone is cool with each other again though. This was a good exercise for those of us who must enforce rules. I just hate that people who are new will see this as their first impression. Sure, we can have some long winded debates sometimes, but it's because we value those conversations. Otherwise we wouldn't bother replying to people who have different points of view.

It's kind of unfair to claim that anybody that mighthe complain wants all female protagonists to be 'flat chested and bundled I'm a sweater'. Just like there's a variety of reasons why people like Miriam there's also probably a reason why people might have issues with the last picture.
We shouldn't cast such a wide net against those we disagree with or else you're just doing the same thing you're accusing them of.

We shouldn't cast such a wide net against those we disagree with or else you're just doing the same thing you're accusing them of. I think they were just using an extreme to make a point. The only wide net that was cast was the, "Those complaining act like..." comment. Little changes like "Some complaining sound like..." would have been accepted more easily, but no one is trying to write like a lawyer. Lets just give our opinion on the subject and not pick apart other's posts so much (at least for this thread). When we read someone as having a negative attitude it's easy to want to do these things, but you must weigh the potential for helping them see things as you do against starting an argument.

I can't say there's any significant difference, I think it just has to do with the drawing perspectives and positions if that makes sense. Depending on the drawing the size can look varied sometimes. It happens in anime, sprite and concept art etc. If I wanted I could say the same thing about other female characters in Castlevania games and other franchises in general. Overall, her bust size is pretty standard. It won't be ridiculously massive but there is going to be a little more filling in her chest as they do with fictional female characters.

Now I'm thinking of the irony of someone who claims that culturally expecting women to wear Hijab is wrong yet telling women in our culture to cover up.

The suggestion to make miriam's crystal curse less "tattoo" and more "the prettiest glass scab you've seen" sounds like a cool idea. Stained glass doesn't naturally have those black borders anyway, unless its skin slowly going through the process...

The suggestion to make miriam's crystal curse less "tattoo" and more "the prettiest glass scab you've seen" sounds like a cool idea. Stained glass doesn't naturally have those black borders anyway, unless its skin slowly going through the process... Actually real stained glass does have those borders, though they may not always be black. In more traditional stained glass the edges of the individual pieces were wrapped with a thin channel made of led that held the glass until soldered together. In more modern practices the different pieces of colored glass in stained glass have their edges taped with a copper foil that slightly wraps around the glass front and back to effectively create a frame holding the piece. Next the glass is then soldered together using lead, tin, or a mixture there of depending on the artist's preference or if they are trying to achieve the look of a certain period (like in the case of doing a restoration or repair job). The tin starts off shiny but gradually gives way to a dull light gray border between the pieces, where as lead turns a very dark gray. In some rare cases you can even use silver to solder the glass together, though you have to be very careful because of the of the extra heat involved making the glass soft and or disturbing the color of the glass, in which case as the silver naturally tarnishes it will turn black. As far as the shading/gradients usually done in stained glass windows, I know it's a type of paint that is black but I am unsure of what it is or exactly how it is applied. That's a part of stained glass making I am not familiar with. Check out: www.instructables.com/id/How-To-Stained-Glass/?ALLSTEPS

I don't see the issue other than the crystal rose looking like a tattoo and not crystal. Other than that it's fine.

Well, they appear smaller now lol. The update does mention that further adjustments may be made to...things, though.

I don't see any significant difference. Though I of course am respectful of the opinions of others I didn't think there was a problem to begin with. I mean at the end of the day it was all angles. Give people screenshots that aren't just awkward zoom-ins of a character's midsection and its hard for them to find something to complain about (unless they are among the few who can't ever be pleased in this regard anyway - different people have different "lines" so to speak). With the previous screenshots, there was nowhere else for your eyes to go so those who might be hypersensitive about such a subject were alerted.

Ample breasted women exist in the real world. To make the movement that every video game female protagonist must be flat chested bundled in a sweater is the opposite of 'real'. They look natural and are fine the way they are right now. Nobody complained or even pointed it out in the first set of shader screenshots, it was only until they showed Miriam from a different angle that the nonsensical ones started to open their mouths. Those complaining act like they have never seen a woman before and her outfit is not super revealing at all - it's just a skirted dress! This is Iga's creation, and he has full freedom and absolute control over this, everything about this game should be envisioned true to what HE wants. This is his art. This game should be about what he envisions. As Thrashinuva pointed out, it's a big double standard when nobody complains about Zangetsu (The samurai character) and his wide shoulders and exposed, ripped and toned torso covered in scars. Yet, Miriam is getting heated over her size. Took the words out of my mouth. To be honest, I'm female, and not flat-chested. Miriam is normal!! Argh! Also yes, look at Zangetsu.
