The reverse Super Metroid boss order was incredible (even the same for LttP, too, even starting WITH Ganon!!).
I only got to catch the first 30 min of FFIV. I'll have to catch the repost of it.
It really was an amazing week...

There was some negativity around the LttP reverse boss order run. The guy on the left got too excited and kicked the other dudes console which reset it. It just left bad feels all over in twitch chat and it felt like some of the people in that room felt it too. Imo they should have had the one guy wait for the other to catch up, considering it was a race.

Oh, I thought the guy on the right kick-resetted his own console? Yikes... (I wasn't following chat). The guy on the left who was ahead was kind of a jerk about it a couple times after it during the run, like when the commentator said something about the guy on the right's progress, and the guy on the left was like 'what're you talking about' and the commentator had to say 'another guy is running the game...' Ouch.
Still, aside from that unpleasantness, the fact that they could do a 'true' reverse boss order is pretty incredible. That game has just been tricked out the wazoo...

Looking at the right dude you could see it in his lack of enthusiasm that he was just trying not to make a scene. Pretty much all commentary from him stopped after that. The twitch chat got modded a bit but it wasn't enough to hold them back, and eventually about 75% of the way through the left dude finally apologized (didn't feel very sincere). "Someone reset Andy's console!" over and over again.
The pre-interview the right dude said that he felt under pressure to perform well, which just goes to say he was probably pretty disappointed.

The best run so far was the Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze race between the USA and Canada. The worst one might be the Fast Racing Neo run. It felt like the speed-runner actually hated the game which made the whole thing unpleasant to watch.

If you aren't already, you need to tune in right this second!
EDIT: He finished the game, blindfolded, with a controller that broke during the run, in less than 1 hour and 10 minutes. Hopefully this run will go up on the Youtubes soon so everyone can see it.

It was funny, but at the same time I felt bad for him since that moment streamed live during a big event. Did the run get better after that? Significantly better. Turns out his Xbox controller broke (he lost the use of one of his shoulder buttons), and that's why he was having such a tough time navigating through the menus. He had a LITTLE bit of help from the couch getting through the library shop menu glitch, and then the rest of the run was back to his own devices. He nailed it pretty hard. |
