To help build the atmosphere of the game, I would love to see a set of diary entries scattered throughout the castle. These would explain the background of the Alchemists and their goal, the origins of the curse and the leadup to Gebel's massacre. A lot of games have these old notes scattered in certain areas to build atmosphere, a good example being Cinnabar Mansion in the original Pokemon games. I think it would really help here, and really, it fits the tone perfectly. That's very nice. Maybe something like visions from the past or dreams (like Succubus from SotN)? I like both of these ideas. Passive lore imo is much more fun than forced story elements.

Pretty much. Games like Metroid Prime wouldn't be the same without passive lore. I suggested this before in Kickstarter comments, but there should be notes scattered around the castle hinting at the super secret boss, along with serious passive lore of course. Like notes from dead Alchemists and stuff. Or maybe notes of Gebel before he went insane from the curse?

This thread has been submitted for design review. Any posts after this one that spark something not mentioned here already should probably be discussed in a different thread more focused on that particular category of game play. This is a general features type conversation, and some of the best things brought up here have been expanded upon in other threads. However, this thread contained a great number of ideas that have helped create a general list of things for consideration. Should anyone add anything significant after this post regarding a general feature suggestion, please let us know with a design review request.

Any news of any of these ideas came to fulfillment?
Impressive list of things they took directly or took inspiration out of would be nice to know. If not now, then perhaps later.

Not trying to encourage or promote alcoholism in any way but I think mysterious bottles of wine could be dotted around the castle (on tables, ledges, etc). These would have various side-effects once drank ... obviously! Some could be hugely beneficial, others highly hallucinogenic, maybe a couple that are lethal or could be used as weapons. Perhaps a rare vintage wine with the Iga label lies somewhere within the castle with untold, desirable effects.

I mean, we had peanuts in SOTN, which was kind of fun. And shiitake mushrooms. It would be cool to see a lot of different things you could eat and drink to gain health.

Based on this picture really... Instead though, she throws the bottle down after she's taken a swig. Imagine the immediate effect of the wine ... it goes to her head and she suddenly develops an ability (for a limited time) to contact/communicate with a ghost that reveals a secret for one example. I think a selection of special wines have a potential place in Bloodstained to make an impact on Miriam where other drinks might fail.

Right, well that is an ability she has, that image. She throws wine. I have no clue what it does. Maybe replenish something. But this "animation" should be in game, together with a few others.

If I missed this, I am sorry..
But a game design that are a chase in the game, either trying to grab something in a long corridor, or trying to flee from it. Since corridors are random, this could also be implemented as a short game perhaps. Glide, run, glide, jump, run, jump, jump..
And the KONAMI code could just change the game somehow. Dunno to what, it really depends on how you guys feel about konami. Make it harder, pixelated, easier, less enemies, more enemies? I dunno.. Perhaps giving 19 continues.. that doesn't do ANYTHING... ?!

Strong religious references, specially catholic ones. I'd actually like this too. The Catholic Church was mentioned multiple times in the (admittedly sparse) Castlevania lore/story. It wouldn't feel right for a game with a gothic castle not to include at least some Catholic imagery or references. Also, I suppose I wouldn't mind other smaller areas aside from what will supposedly be the largest castle IGA has ever made, but I don't think there should be too much focus on other areas. If the total space of the areas not a part of the castle is equal to even a quarter of the size of one of the castles in Symphony of the Night...I consider that too much. How about a few Castlevania easter eggs? Maybe the third playable character, if we don't know who they are yet, could be a character named Alucard with a slightly different design from SotN onwards Alucard? Konami doesn't have rights to the name, so it should work.

And easter eggs up until now are: IGA made both, hidden things in walls, classic control / moveset like SotN. IGA (hopefully) as a hidden boss with a Dracula Tunic. Exotic animals. SotN map overview. The gothic theme. Classic (8 or 16-bit) gamestyle as a feature. Whip! Got any more?

The SotN moveset (never heard of this), whip, and Dracula Tunic are the only real Castlevania easter eggs of those you listed. Those other features are just that...features. The "SotN" map overview is also a feature of Metroid, the gothic theme is not unique to Castlevania, plenty of other games were in 8 or 16 bit, and things hidden in walls isn't necessarily exclusive to CV either. I'm talking about having a portrait of someone who looks like one of the Belmonts in the background somewhere, or a remixed Castlevania track hidden away in the sound test.

So like more "in your face" stuff? Hmm.. Voice actor of Alucard is back, that would satisfy the most hardcore players of SotN perhaps. SotN moveset is how they are animated, with no walk / run but rather a jog, and also the UI and settingsmenues included with weapon/sub-weapon use (or shards here). Easter eggs are trivial. I found a dead body in Diablo III with green clothes on him, for me that was an easter egg for Link / Zelda games. To others, it's nonsense. So it really depends on personal preferences. Dracula tunic is, what I would believe along with the whip the ultimate Castlevania nod.

And the KONAMI code could just change the game somehow. I'm tempted to suggest it just links your web browser to a playlist of all the Jimquisition episodes that end with a certain "news segment"...

I would like to see a library where you can pick books to read that give you (accurate) information on Castlevania history. That would be pretty cool.

Castlevania has nothing to do with Bloodstained, besides being its spiritual ancestor. To add on this, we normally should have a game that truly distances itself from the former.
