So I love everything about Castlevania Order of Ecclesia.
BUT I know this game is going to be completely inside a castle. Am fine with that, there's no problem but...
How would other people feel if there were a few more areas outside of the castle, not a lot like Order of Ecclesia, but just a few say like 3 or 4 playable areas surrounding the land where the castle is. Like an abandoned town, a mountain or a forest that you'll go through before you reach the castle?
I always felt the journey to get to the castle would have been a cool idea even if it's an hour of gameplay.
Or do guys want everything to be in the castle?

Sure, I'm with you. Even in the games that take place "entirely" in castles, we usually have gardens and courtyards, underground areas and so on.
Many of the older games do start out in a town setting. The place usually isn't in great shape, sometimes it's completely on fire D:
I think it could be interesting graphically to see what they do with those flames, I've personally enjoyed how fire in video games has gotten much better looking than it used to be (something on fire in an early 3D game, lol wow). It would be just more visually interesting to have varied locations, and again the good news here imo is that when you have a "castle" as ridiculously expansive as something like what Iga usually makes, there's usually room for all manner of not-in-a-building, but still 'on campus' type locations.

If there's heavy alchemy and magic at work, along with the whole curse, I'm sure that the castle may get some interesting environments that will feel a little fresh and like they're not really part of the castle. Iga's full of good ideas, but it's nice to see threads like this start up, since they do check the forums for ideas from all of us. Sorry for the ramble, but yeah, good thinking, guys/gals

Now that Castlevania isn't in the title, I do like to think that Bloodstained doesn't have to be limited to a castle. I love exploring areas that are outside of the castle ... which is why I found Portrait of Ruin and Order of Ecclesia very refreshing to play. OK, there were many copy 'n' paste jobs throughout the areas (including the castles) but, more than likely, that was down to a limited budget.
One area that has often been in the back of my mind is a wasteland of some kind that precedes the castle. Since a wasteland may contain huge amounts of junk, rubbish, abandoned vehicles, old buildings, piles of rocks and other curious oddities, there'll always be a fair amount of exploration to keep oneself occupied. Not forgetting the creepy atmosphere knowing that something insanely horrible is lurking around ... inevitably, leading to a poo-inducing confrontation with a freakish, abomination of a boss.

While the castle will be the main star of the attraction, IGA did state he'd like to include various places like perhaps underground areas, garden/courtyards, etc. Also, looking at the concept art, the castle is on water.. I'm thinking there may be a hidden passage that would take us to an area down there somewhere...maybe even have something to do with the deep/great ones...

i think itd be awesome for one part of the castle to be a ruined town within the castle walls, all covered with ivy and bodies strewn everywhere, enemies could even attack from the buildings ^_^

I am fine with whatever IGA envisioned for this game. He has never disappointed me. Even when the game is entirely in the castle, it can be varied and interesting. If this game doesn`t have outside areas, the next game might have them.
I really liked the Ecclesia levels, with the whole beautiful castle revealed late in the game. From all the outside areas, my favorite is the snow village in DOS, ahhh, so beautiful!
Even if there is only a castle, I find it very interesting to explore one. Usually there was this special enchanting attraction and fascination with the castle because it was Dracula`s castle..his legend is so special that just the thought about being in his castle was special. I will miss THAT!

I like the castle most of all, but having a splash of other areas is perfectly fine. kind of like a bridge to a song. it stands out, sounds good, and makes the meat of the song better too. OoE had too much not-castle, and not enough castle for my tastes though.

Just to clarify: Am not worried that the areas won't have a good variety. Just like in the rest of his games there are a wide variety of places, gardens, caverns etc. as people mentioned.
Glad to see that some people dig the idea of everything not taking place in the castle though.

I want a garden or greenhouse. Or a rooftop. I know that would be weird for a castle, but I think that would be pretty cool.

There needs to be a graveyard in or around the castle that the player can explore.

I'd like to see areas outside of the castle. It'd allow the creative team to be a bit more creative with environments and I kinda like the idea of starting in a town or a graveyard before reaching the actual castle. But I still want the areas to feel connected as if it's a giant maze rather than separate locations like Order of Ecclesia.

They should have a graveyard with a duck in it, that drops material to forge a weapon named Death Star They should add atleast 1 toilet and 1 kitchen in this castle. Some underground areas would be cool too, like a crystal cave or aqueduct. Maybe a factory trapped inside the castle walls? Imagine how cool it would be if you start to traverse in a foggy area, only to discover that it is hiding a entire factory! But a must is a alchemy laboratory, where Gebel would try to study about the crystals

It would allow for a mechanical area similar to the Clock Tower from Castlevania while still being its own original thing, have a story connection because of the alchemy and crystals, and the underground location/use of crystals could give it a unique background. Maybe there could be mine carts and whatnot for transporting crystals moving around at regular intervals and they could act as platforms or obstacles.

I had this idea about a hidden factory because of the industrial revolution era. I also thought about suggesting instead of hanging garden, a literal floating garden where the fog from the factory would be holding the floor. But it wouldn't be very castlevania-ish right? So Gunlord idea is better. Even if Belmon's Revenge had a Sky Castle... But WAIT! Thats it, instead of a inverted castle, this fog could be holding a entire castle floating! Factoryvania lol

In the Castle Design Thread, I suggested/speculated that since there's a lookout tower type building in the concept art, that maybe there could be some kind of underwater "aquarium" type region connecting the two. It'd be interesting to travel through at least, and could open up the possibility of an interesting aquatic boss fight like Gyorg from Majora's Mask or Serris from Metroid: Fusion. I think quite a few people on that thread suggested other good outside regions. It's a worthy read for some good ideas.

Thanks, I'll give it a look and I really dig this aquarium idea. Since Castlevania have Merman, maybe we could finally have a mermaid.
