You know, I hadn't actually watched the full Nintendo Direct until just now, but I've got to say... I almost can't believe it! KAMUI ("Corrin") is in!  Sure, Corrin may be just another Fire Emblem character, but I do understand their reasoning for including this character in SSB4...and I'm excited for it! Corrin's moves look awesome, in my humble opinion. Not to mention that he/she is the first main character (Avatar) in the Fire Emblem series to be a Manakete (Dragon in human form). I'm actually happy that Bayonetta made it to the roster as the winner of the Smash Ballot, as she deserved it just as much as I still think Shantae & Shovel Knight do. The addition of Corrin to the roster makes up for their absence as well! Better luck next time for you two, Shantae and Shovel Knight. Corrin & Bayonetta will assume your mantle as the newest characters in the Smash roster for now. |

I'm very excited for Corrin. He'll be the last DLC character I'll be buying. Also plan to get his amiibo as well.
During the lead up to Fire Emblem Fates, I was eagle-eyed enough to notice that they eventually updated the boxart to have the amiibo icon. I was all ready to hunt down amiibos for Corrin and the Nohr and Hoshido royal siblings, but it turned out that FE:F only has functionality with the Smash FE amiibos. Dang.
Just hope that his amiibo is released closer to his Smash release then it was for Mewtwo. (Mewtwo came out in April, we had to wait until November to get his amiibo.)
Also, been playing Cloud. R.O.B. may have some competition on the subject of who is my main main now. Though I do wish they had gotten Steve Burton to voice Cloud, he just continues with his Japanese voice clips in the English Smash.

I won't be able to try this out til Sunday due to testing, Star Wars and celebrations, but I am pretty excited for this hehe. I also didn't even know the main new protagonist is a manakete which is exciting to hear as well.

Congratulation Bayonetta and Platinum Games for winning the ballot. Welcome to Smash.
I am intrigued by Corrin's playstyle or the fact that FE Fates features a Manakate. To me, it boils down to one question. Who is best Waifu? Nowi or FemCorrin?
I am a bit bummed that Simon Belmont didn't make it but since Konami is "Evil-er" than EA, He or Snake never really had a chance.

As usual, Max has provided a reaction that I found really funny.
I think I like the Cloud reaction better due to the utter disbelief to the point of him thinking it was an elaborate prank on an FF7 fanboy like him.
I have to admit though, I was rooting for the underdog indie dudes a little more though. Though Bayo was pretty much what I expected ever since Bayo 2 was announced(and was announced as a Wii U exclusive). I know my friend wanted Wonder Red as well. That wraps up Smash for the Wii U and 3DS. What a wild ride. I expect to continue to use Ryu, use Bayo, use Mario, and I might even give this Corrin dude a try. I'm going to get FE: If/Fates at as much of a discount as I can though.

It's funny to see that the Direct seems to have generated more un-hype then hype.
I guess I understand where people are coming from when complaining about the amount of FE characters there are. (I think that with Corrin added, it's the second most represented franchise in Smash.) But at the very least, Corrin isn't a clone like Lucina and Roy are. Honestly, in the next Smash game, I'd vote we keep Marth, Ike, Robin, and Corrin, but drop the two clone FE characters.
To be honest, Roy's claim to fame is entirely due to him being in Melee. His FE game is typically regarded as one of the worst entries in the series, and his overall character is flat and cookie cutter. The only thing that makes him stand out amongst other FE protagonists is that he actually understands how politics work. It doesn't help that he's one of the worst FE Lords, game stat-wise.

Good News Everyone~ In Celebration of Bayonettas inclusion in Super Smash Bros. 4 Nintendo and Sega will be re-releasing new print copies of Bayonetta 2. Since her announcement for SSB4 her game has seen a boost in sales, however copies of the original print are limited so that is why they are releasing this new series of physical copies. However the re-release comes with a catch, it will not include a physical copy of Bayonetta 1. To make up for this instead of the original $59.99 price tag, this re-release of Bayonetta 2 will only be $29.99. |

Hmm? Hold on a second.
In the broadcast, Sakurai said we'd be playing as Corrin before his game releases, and Fates releases on the 19th of February. Yet the wording Nintendo gave on Twitter regarding Bayonetta would imply that she'll still be unreleased for Smash by the time Fire Emblem Fates gets released.
I had assumed that Corrin and Bayonetta would be released at the same time, but this suggests that Bayonetta won't be available for download until after Fates' release, thus meaning they'll be released at two separate points in time. Either that or they had to push back the release date for the DLC a bit.
Man, and I had been hoping for a February 2nd release for both characters. It would mean that Bayonetta gets into Smash on Platinum's 10th anniversary, and Corrin would convinently also be released at the same time.

A recent interview with Sakurai and Nomura has gone online, it is split into two parts, here is Part 1. They go on to talk about how Sakurai went about contacting SE to get an FF character into smash. He initially considered either Terra or Bartz, however since Cloud usually takes up 1/3rd of the FF character requests hes constantly getting, he pushed for Cloud instead. In the interview he said that while Terra or Bartz would have made the most sense, he feared no one would know who they were. I guess hes never herd of the many re-makes and re-releases that FFV and FFVI have gotten. I would comment on him not knowing about the Dissidia games, but the interview clearly states that Clouds appearance in SSB4 borrows from his Dissidia series design ... This FFVI fan and Terra fan shall be crying salty tears into his pillow tonight.
Really, it may be hype backlash to a degree on my part, but I never found Cloud all that remarkable. He's one of FF's better protagonists, ( I consider him better then Luneth/Onion Knight, Cecil, Bartz, Zidane, Tidus, Vaan, and Lightning, but worse then Warrior of Light, Firion, Terra, and Squall.) but not the one I'd get hyped for. I'll grant that he's a blast in Smash and has become my off-main (Robin is my overall main), just not my FF pick.
I'd have done cartwheels of joy if we got Terra or Squall.

Oh well...at least Final Fantasy is still represented in Smash 4, to an extent. Tina/Terra Branford, one of my personal favorite FF protagonists. Surely, we're all going to enjoy playing all of our favorite characters, including Terra, when the new Dissidia is released on consoles (hopefully in NA as well). _2015.png/revision/20150528051847)  I'm sure it would also be easy enough to think of Smash move-sets for both Bartz & Terra. |

nintendoeverything.com/rumor-bandai-namco-working-on-several-nx-games-smash-bros-a-launch-title/SSB4-NX's Exclusive Mode, if this is true, will hopefully be Story Mode. SSB4-3DS has the knock off Adventure Mode, SSB4-WiiU has a Board Game no one plays. If SSB4-NX is going to have a console exclusive mode, I'm hoping its the return of Story Mode. Because really there would be no point in getting it since it'd just likely be a shiny port of the Wii U version with all the DLC at once. In this generation of Smash I only intended to get the 3DS version, due to Smash run, and was planning on not getting the WiiU version due to lack of a single player mode that doesn't just mimic the multi-player mode with restrictive rule sets. I only got the Wii U version soly because my 3DS was broken and I had to save up for a new 3DS, and was able to find a copy of SSB4 for under 20 bucks at GameStop. Yes, Brawls story mode was nonsensical and didn't make much sense, but at least it was a fun side scrolling adventure that let you explore areas, find hidden rooms, solve puzzles, and take down huge bosses outside of stage boss fights. I really miss being able to do this, and while it is true I can go back and replay the story in Brawl when ever I want, I would be restricted to the games smaller roster, not to mention the slower game play mechanics, and poor game performance. If Sakurai is worried about people uploading cutscenes onto YouTube, then he needs a reality check. People do this with all games with over arching storylines, and removing a story mode from ANY game franchise simply because "I don't like they put the cutscenes on Youtube" is just asinine and infantile. Instead of the high quality graphic cinematics they did in Brawl, just use the games in-game graphics for real-time cutscenes with the characters game models. It would definitely make the game funner if players could have their costume choices show up during these things. Also, if SSB4-NX has all the DLC made available from the beginning, then that means they could include all the characters in the story. As of now, if the SSB4-NX rumor is true, I have no plans to get it. Not unless it offers a mode that would give gamers a worth while single player experience, one that doesn't just mimick Multiplayer modes with set rules *cougheventmodecough*, because otherwise I'm not buying this game a third time.
